Bechem United coach, Bismark Kobi Mensah, has refuted earlier reports of his termination amidst the club’s challenging start in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

Despite the team’s current bottom-of-the-table position with just three points from four games, the coach remains resolute in his commitment to lead the squad to a successful turnaround.

Speaking to Peace FM, Coach Bismark Kobi Mensah clarified the situation, stating, “It is not true I am still at post. The truth is that there was an issue, and the issue has been resolved now, so I am still at post.

“The club did not come out and officially announce that they have parted ways with me. It is just something like a rumor, but as I said, there was an issue that made people start saying things, and that thing has been resolved.”

Bechem United are now preparing for their next Ghana Premier League game, where they will take on Legon Cities away on match day five.

The Hunters are hoping to bounce back after recording only a single win in their first four games.

In a highly anticipated rescheduled fixture of the Ghana Premier League’s matchday 3, Dreams FC and Nsoatreman FC locked horns in a thrilling encounter that culminated in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

Nsoatreman fought back from a goal down to earn their first point at away this campaign at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ Dawu Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Dreams coach Abdul Karim Zito made three changes to the team that drew 0-0 with Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend.

Ebenezer Adade, Agyenim Boateng Mensah, and Sulemana Suhiyini made way for Solomon Boateng, Jonathan Nemorden, and Abdul Aziz Issah in the starting lineup respectively.

On the other hand, Maxwell Konadu made no alterations to the squad that pipped FC Samartex at home in the last round, retaining the same starting lineup against Dreams.

The home side was first to score in the match when Abdul Aziz Issah got the breakthrough as early as the 4th minute with a beautiful strike.

Abdul Manaf Umar is proving to be an important figure in the Nsoatreman setup. He drew the visitors’ level with his 3rd goal of the campaign in the 21st minute with a brilliant effort.

Both teams failed to get a second goal in the second half of the game despite their efforts to get the ball behind the net.

Nsoatreman move to the second place on the league standings behind the newly-promoted Bofoakwa Tano while Dreams sit in the 10th position.

Bechem United have parted ways with coach Bismark Kobi Mensah, according to ghanasoccernet.

The decision was reached through mutual consent after a disappointing start to the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

Bechem United currently occupies the bottom spot in the league table, having secured just one victory and suffering three losses in their four matches this season.

Mensah was appointed at the beginning of the season, taking over from Kassim Ocansey Mingle, who left the club after guiding them to a top-four finish in the previous season to join newly promoted Nations FC.

While the club are yet to officially announce the departure, they are expected to make an official statement soon and may appoint a permanent or interim coach ahead of their upcoming game against Legon Cities on Sunday.

Asante Kotoko have successfully resolved the salary arrears of former coach Seydou Zerbo, amounting to $9,000, equivalent to three months’ salary.

The 60-year-old had signed a 12-month contract to take over as Kotoko’s head coach in August 2022, but his tenure was cut short when he was dismissed in March 2023.

At the time of his dismissal, Kotoko owed Zerbo three months’ worth of salary, and despite his attempts to retrieve the money, he had not received any communication from the club. In response, Zerbo had threatened to report the matter to FIFA.

In a recent update, Zerbo confirmed that the issue has now been resolved. He said on Fox FM, “I have now received all my money. They have paid my salary for three months. I have checked my account, and the money is in there.”

Zerbo had been brought in as head coach after the departure of the title-winning coach Prosper Ogum. However, in July 2023, Prosper Ogum returned to take charge of the club after the management led by Nana Yaw Amponsah had reached the end of its mandate.

The settlement of Zerbo’s salary arrears marks the conclusion of this financial dispute, allowing both parties to move forward.
