Newly-added board member of Asante Kotoko, Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey has expressed his readiness to help run the club professionally.

The life patron and owner of the Porcupine Warriors – Otumfuo Osei Tutu II – on Monday afternoon added three persons to the already inaugurated nine-member board of directors to serve as the highest decision making body of the club, increasing the number of members on the board to 12.

The new additions include Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey (CEO Lexta Ghana Ltd), James Osei Brown (CEO Joshob Construction Ltd), and Kofi Amoah Abban (CEO Rigworld Group).

Speaking to Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Mr Brobbey indicated that he will advocate for the inclusion of supporters in decision making.

“I am coming to Kotoko to help run the club professionally, not sidelining the supporters. I will make sure we have a day with the fans, to make them feel part of the club.

He continued: “We will share ideas with them, solicit advice from them on all policies.

“Kotoko should not be run by one man, all financial burden on a person but it should not be so, all hands should be on deck,” he ended.

The 12-man board is chaired by the former Executive Chairman now Board Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei with Mr. Jude Arthur as his vice.

New Asante Kotoko board member, Mr. James Osei Brown has said that he is ready to support the club with his ‘knowledge and money’ as they strive to make the club great again.

Osei Brown – who is the Chief Executive Officer of Joshob Construction Company Limited – was added to the new Asante Kotoko board of directors by the Life Patron of the club – Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Monday.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM, Osei Brown expressed his happiness after he was contacted to work with the already inaugurated nine-member board of directors.

“I was surprised but I saw it as an honour too. I was pleased and I am in to help. It’s true I have not been heard when it comes to football but as an Akan – we support Asante Kotoko. I normally do things on the low,” Osei Brown told Hello FM Tuesday Morning.

He continued: “It is too early to say something as I am yet to attend my first Board meeting. But since I’m part ot it, we hope to achieve the club’s target.

“We will support the club with all our strength, knowledge to bring great things to the club and I know the supporters’ expectations will be met.

“I’m in to support the club with everything. Money isn’t anything but if it gets a point to support financially, why not. We are in to make the club great.”

Former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey has indicated that meagre salaries paid to Ghanaian players in the local leagues is the reason behind the mass exodus of players in the West African country.

Last week, videos of Ghanaian players plying their trade in countries like Ethiopia, Dr Congo and others went viral asking for assistance to be evacuated home due to the hardships they are going through as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reacting to the issue Lamptey said that the players will not trek for greener pastures if their earnings in Ghana was lucrative.

“The problem is that players in Ghana think they are not getting enough money here so they go elsewhere. Who are you to advise him not to go? At the end of the day, everyone talks about life after football so you have to take care of yourself,” Lamptey told Joy FM.

“If we are not able to change our attitude and pay our players well, this thing won’t change. I understand that sponsorship is a problem so some of the clubs find it difficult to pay players but I’m sure we have a lot of huge companies in Ghana.”

The former Eleven Wise coach believes that the Kurt Okraku led Ghana Football Association will find innovative ways to combat the problem.

“With this new FA [led by Kurt], I believe he is doing things behind the scenes. We should be able to bounce back. Clubs should be able to get sponsors and we should be able to pay players well. I was very sad to see the players in the videos from Ethiopia, India and others.”

The borders of Ghana are still closed in order to reduce the import of the virus.

Manhyia Palace has expressed its displeasure about the approach former Chief Executive Officer of the club George Amoakoh is using to get paid his outstanding salaries.

George Amoakoh was recently relieved of his position after a new board was announced by the Life Patron of the Porcupine Warriors.

The Ghana Football Association Executive Council Member publicly divulged that, he is owed five months salary by the Ghanaian giants.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Mabesh TV, the Special Aide to the Chief of Staff of Manhyia Kwame Aboagye Mensah has disclosed that Manhyia is unhappy with the manner Mr. George Amoakoh has handled the issue.

“Manhyia Palace is not happy with the way George Amoako has handled the issue of his salaries in arrears,this issue has damaged the the reputation of the club and for that matter Manhyia,” he told Mabesh TV.

“He could have done that in a proper manner,it doesn’t augur well at all.

“We are displeased with the way he has handled it,we are not happy with him. He could have written to Prof Lydia Nkansah- committee and it would have settled the issue.”

The Manhyia Palace has turned down the imminent appointment of the 2019 Ghana Football Association elections Presidential candidate as the Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko.

Founder and Bankroller of Division One League club Phar Rangers, Nana Yaw Amponsah who was in line for top position at the Ghana Premier League giants has been rejected.

Earlier last week, Nana Amponsah had an interview with the newly constituted Board of Directors in Accra after being emerged as the possible candidate for the position.

Asante Kotoko has been without a Chief Executive Officer after the George Amoako led management team was dissolved few weeks ago by the club’s Board of Directors.

Special Assistant to the Chief of staff of the Manhyia Palace, Kwame Aboagye Mensah revealed in an interview with Opemsuo FM that Nana Yaw Amponsah is not a candidate for the vacant Chief Executive Officer job at Asante Kotoko.

“We have heard the news circulating in the media that the Board of Directors have settled on him [Nana Yaw Amponsah]. It’s not true and I repeat it’s not true,” Kwame Aboagye Mensah told Opemsuo FM in an exclusive interview.

“Everyone should take note that Asante Kotoko is a big brand and it can’t work with someone who is not secrecy”

“Being interviewed by the Board of Directors and the next hour everything said during the meeting is in the media….how can we work with such individual” he quizzed.

“If people have forgot, let me remind that of Osei Kuffour who publicly said he’s the new President of Asante Kotoko. Was Osei Kuffour appointed to lead Asante Kotoko after all the interviews. It’s a big no”

“We have plans for the club and announcements are not to be made by the public but His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II” he concluded.

Owner of Asante Kotoko has added three individuals namely Kofi Amoa-Abban, Martin Brobbey and James Osei Brown to the newly constituted Board of Directors to steer affairs of Asante Kotoko.
