Asante Kotoko Owner and Life Patron, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has appointed three new members onto the ‘young’ Kotoko Board of Directors.

The newly-inducted board members are Kofi Amoah Abban, Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey and James Osei Brown, making the Board members now twelve (12) in number.

The Sole Shareholder of the Club announced a nine-member board of directors in late May to steer affairs of the Porcupine Warriors. But His Majesty has decided to add three persons to the board – who had already organized three meetings – to make the number 12.

Mr. Kofi Amoa-Abban is the  founder and CEO of Rigworld Group – a Ghanaian Oil and Gas entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

Mr. James Osei Brown is the managing director of Joshob Construction Limited.

 It would be recalled that the new Kotoko Board member donates US$100,000 to the COVID-19 Trust Fund.

Mr. Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey is a Marketing expert. He holds Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Marketing and Support Services.

Henry Asante Twum, the Ghana Football Association Communications Director has hinted the FIFA Relief Fund could play a crucial role in determining the fate of the season.

Since mid-March, association football together with other contact sports in the country have been halted as a measure of curbing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Discussions about the destiny of the current season has given birth to divergent opinions most especially with the state not ready to lift the ban on contact sports. However, those that have argued against the restart of football have lamented about the struggling state of clubs financially, citing the return might complicate the already dire conditions bedevilling the football sides.

Speaking about the imminent Covid-19 relief fund set to be doled out by the world governing body, Henry Asante Twum suggested:

“FIFA’s relief fund could play a role as the EXCO decides on the future of the league season tomorrow but it may not be the main reason to influence the decision of the EXCO,” he told Eugene Adu Poku ‘Striker’ on Mabesh TV.

With the Ghana Football Association giving herself June 30 as deadline to come out with a decision on the fate of football in the country. It is apparent the season might be cancelled.

FIFA is set to release $1.5 million to her member associations to ease off the financial burden sparked by the global pandemic on the sport world-wide.

Former Asante Kotoko gaffer, Bashir Hayford has called on the Ghana Football Association to appoint him as the Technical Director in order to inculcate in the upcoming coaches the knowledge he has acquired before he dies.

Hayford, who applied for the top job is yet to hear anything from the hierarchy of the Association despite reports that applicants are being interviewed by the GFA.

According to him, the football governing body should not sit there for him to die with the knowledge gained like what happened to the likes of Afrane, Ben Koufie and others.

“I’m yet to hear from the GFA since applying for the Technical Directorate position but I’ve heard that they’ve been calling people to interview them on this same position I have applied too,” he told Wontumi Sports

“I think this is the time that the upcoming coaches need to learn from me and that can happen by me being the Technical director of the FA,

“As a technical director, I will make sure I mobilise the coaches for a meeting to let them know the direction of the FA, organise coaching courses for them, upgrade them, let them know new ideas of coaching etc”

“It hurts me that I might send my knowledge in football to my grave I won’t disseminate to anyone,

“Now where is Ben Koufie, Osam Duodu and Afrane, will join them soon so the FA needs to make use of my knowledge until I leave the earth.”

The two-time Ghana Premier League winner has also expressed interest in becoming the Technical Director of the yet-to-be formed Asante Kotoko Academy.

President of the Ghana Olympic committee, Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah has called on all who matters in the game of football to throw their weight behind the current president of the Ghana Footballootball Association – Kurt E.S Okraku to succeed.

Speaking on Agopramanso on Ashaiman TV, the former Hearts of Oak management member believes Kurt well equipped to lead the Association and therefore, people should put aside their agenda and rally behind the current administration to succeed.

“I have known Kurt since he joined us at Hearts of oak and I don’t have any doubt about Kurt’s administration making things happen, especially creating something out of nothing. On any day I will give that to him. He’s a very good and solid marketing personnel. I think so far he’s done well.

” He still hopes to reach out to the people, but for me I do not have any doubt, if somebody can take us there I do not have any shred of a doubt that it is Kurt. He can, all he needs is everybody’s support. We need to stop the agenda and the pull him down attitude,” he told Ashaiman TV.

Mr Mensah also indicated that Kurt will succeed despite all the challenges he is facing.

“There are so many challenges in our football, no matter how good you do, there are people out there, who will go up there and pull him down but at the end of the day, your good works will show. He must just be focused and have hi head up and he will definitely make the difference, even though there are lots of destructions and obstacles,” he asserted.

Asante Kotoko board have told Nana Yaw Amponsah they will get back to him in a month’s time after the Phar Rangers President was interviewed in their last meeting held in Accra.

During the marathon meeting the football entrepreneur shared his plans for the club with the board in a presentation that covered the cost of the proposed club Academy project.

According to the Spokesperson of the National Circles Council – Osei Owusu, who hinted Oyerepa FM, the board is left with some formalities.

“Fortunately we met a board member at Manhyia when we went to meet the Chief of Staff and he confirmed they have interviewed Nana Yaw Amponsah and have told him they will get back to him in a month’s time.”

“He said there are some formalities they will need to go through especially with the Prof Lydia Nkansah- committee working and also they have to inform Manhyia about such decisions also.”

The Chief of Staff of Manhyia, Mr. Kofi Badu has asked the hierarchy of the National Circles Council (NCC) to put on hold their decision to pay the five months salary arrears of former Chief Executive Officer of the club – George Amoakoh.

The supporters wing headed by Christopher Damenya were also asked to halt their efforts to ensure that the club acquires AshantiGold midfielder – Latif Anabila.

The two directives were given on Saturday during a meeting between Kofi Badu and the NCC executives at the National House Chiefs. The supporters came out public about purchasing one player and decided to buy Anabila. Discussions were far advanced until Manhyia directed the hierarchy of the club to suspend all signings.

The NC revealed their readiness to pay the outstanding salaries of George Amoakoh after it was divulged that the club owed him five months salaries from February to June.

Speaking to Oyerepa FM, the Public Relations Officer of the NCC Osei Owusu revealed that the supporters have been reported to Manhyia and have been asked to stay off competition with management of the club.

“Asante Kotoko NCC put on hold the decision to buy Latif Anabila for Asante Kotoko and will no longer pay for George Amoako’s 5 months salaries in arrears after we were reported to Chief Of Staff of Manhyia,” Osei Owusu said on Oyerepa FM.
