Ghana Football Association(GFA) Club Licensing Manager, Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, has disclosed that it will be extremely difficult to implement fully the club licensing regulations assessing the current state of the clubs.

The Club Licensing Board is the body directed by the GFA to ensure clubs are managed and administered professionally and according to the standards.

Dr Baah-Nuakoh revealed that it will be left with some few clubs to compete in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) if the regulation strictly adhered.

“For clubs to meet the full requirements of the Club licensing it requires money. These clubs play a league that is sponsorless. These clubs fund themselves but you need to also recognize the challenges they are going through.

“As a regulator, you have to be smart and understand the clubs too. We have to give them a time frame whereby they can meet the standards too. As we think about how the clubs should meet the requirements the aspect of money should also be considered”, he told Happy FM.

He also added that the difficulty in implementing the club licensing rule has to do with monitoring.

“The most difficult part of club licensing is monitoring. If we don’t get the chance to go around during the course of the season to monitor these clubs after giving them the conditional license it makes it difficult that’s why some of the clubs don’t even go ahead with what they promise to do, an example is the Liberty Professional case.

“Monitoring is a very important one but it comes at a cost. The GFA must also empower the club licensing board to ensure the regulations are adhered to”, he added.

Several Ghanaian players who play for clubs abroad are disinterested in playing for the national team because of juju and other negative tendencies, a Ghana FA official has revealed.

George Amoako, a GFA Executive Council Member has disclosed that, most of the Ghanaian players in Europe are unwilling to play for Ghana due to certain perceptions and long held notions about Ghana and African football.

Ghana has a history of convincing Ghanaian players born and/or raised abroad to switch allegiance and play for the Black Stars.

The cases of Quincy Owusu Abeyie, Emmanuel Frimpong, Kevin Prince Boateng, Akwasi Appiah among others are clear examples.

With the Ghana FA still engaging current active players about such a switch, George Amoako has revealed the frustrations that the National team officials have encountered in their efforts.

In an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM, the Black Stars management committee Chairman disclosed that, these players are not too convinced about playing for Ghana because of some erroneous perceptions that need to be corrected.

“There are a lot of perceptions about how Ghanaian footballers play the game,” Amoako told Nhyira FM.

“Destructive tendencies in the game, those who deliberately want to injure you and cut short your career.

“Then the usual unending speculations, especially about Ghanaian players using juju to play football.

“Even those who were raised here and go to Europe to play there, most of them because of juju don’t want to play for Ghana.

“Its a very big problem we are trying to unravel and make right,” he concluded.

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have appointed erstwhile Division One Advisory Committee member, David Obeng Nyarko as the Special Assistant to Nana Yaw Amponsah with oversight responsibility on Branding and Marketing.

Asante Kotoko has appointed vibrant politician Eric Amoako Twum as the club's new Commercial Manager, footy.ghpush.com/ can confirm.

Amoako, who is a member of the Communications team of the ruling New Patriotic Party has vast experience in the department he has landed.

The former Parliamentary aspirant for the Fanteakwa South Constituency was appointed on September 16, 2020, to help identify the areas of the Porcupine Warriors that can be expanded for the holistic development of the Ghanaian giants.

Twum is a Government spokesman at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and therefore have in-depth knowledge in the marketing field as he had worked as Brands Manager for UK-based Telecommunication giant, Orange Telecom between 2002 and 2004.

He has also performed the role as Business Development Manager at Milicom Ghana(Tigo) in 2010.

He is expected to use his rich knowledge to help the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management to revamp the Reds in the next three years.

Accra Hearts Of Oak have accepted Muaither Sporting Club’s $150,000 offer for striker Kofi Kordzi.

Muaither Sporting Club bypassed Hearts Of Oak and sent a letter to the 25-year-old striker requesting him to trek to Doha on September 6, 2020, for medical, physical and technical examination before negotiating his personal terms for a one-year deal.

But Hearts issued a warning letter to the Qatari club to desist from dealing with the player directly and engage the hierarchy of the club.

According to reports monitored on Oyerepa FM, Muaither SC responded to the Phobians’ letter and submitted a $150, 000 deal for the 25-year-old attacker with a 20% onward transfer fee.

The report indicates that the Ghanaian Giants have accepted the offer and are ready to release the striker.

Muaither SC had earlier proposed a $150,000 transfer fee and 20% onward transfer to Hearts through a Ghanaian intermediary, but the hierarchy of the Phonians rejected and suggested they increase the amount to $200,000 and maintain the 20% onward transfer fee or be paid the $150,000 offer and increase the onward transfer fee to 30%.

But the latest development means that the Rainbow Club has agreed to the terms of the deal submitted by Muaither SC who were bent on securing the services of Kordzi.

Kofi Kordzi netted 5 goals for the Accra-based club in the truncated Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko, Ashantigold must pay outstanding salaries to players or face sanction from CAF – Dr Baah-Nuakoh

Ghana Football Association(GFA) Club Licensing Board Manager, Dr Kwame Baah-Nuako has disclosed that Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold must pay all debts owed players or would face disqualification from the 2020-21 CAF inter-club competitions.

According to Dr Baah-Nuakoh, CAF has directed the various Federations and Licensing Board not to authorize the participation of any club that owes its players and technical team outstanding bonuses and salaries for more than six months.

He explained that his new directive from the continent’s football governing body is already in place, and will apply to Ghana’s representatives for this year’s campaign – Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC.

Speaking to Happy FM, Dr Baah-Nuakoh gave a hinted that:

“Let me give you a hint. The current Ghanaian Clubs that are going to compete in Africa, Asante Kotoko and Ashgold, CAF has reminded the club licensing board and the FA that, one of the key tenets of club licensing they will implement this year is that, a club cannot have an overdue debt to any player or any of its staff.

“Let me explain; if a club has an active promise to pay a player signing on a fee which was due as at 31st December 2019 but has defaulted in paying such debt, the club licensing board should not give that club clearance to play in Africa. It does not necessarily mean the club should not owe but the said debt should not be overdue. Even our own statutes say so but then how many of our clubs can meet this?” He added.
