Hearts of Oak recorded their second victory of the season after inflicting a 2-1 loss on King Faisal Babies FC on Matchday 6 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

Hearts of Oak were clearly the better side in the opening minutes of the match.

The Phobians made several incursions into the King Faisal box but their final delivery at the final third of the pitch left much to be desired.

King Faisal after sitting on the fence for so long in the opening 13 minutes, found a breather and nearly went ahead through Wadudu Yabuku.

Wadudu’s instinctive goal was ruled out for a handball after Robert Addo’s poor clearance hit his hand before the ball fell at his feet.

Hearts of Oak recaptured hold of the game and had a chance to break the deadlock but Michelle Sarpong’s free-kick went just wide.

The visitors finally got their deserved lead in the 20th minute after Benjamin Afutu eluded his marker to tap home from close range after King Faisal failed to deal with Michelle Sarpong’s lofty cross.

Hearts of Oak continued to probe for the insurance goal but couldn’t make the plethora of possession they had count as Mohammed Alhassan was poor with his header despite being unmarked in the box.

Wadudu meanwhile continued to be a thorn in the flesh of the Phobians. The powerful forward again tested Richmond Ayi with a long range strike.

Kosta Papic’s men looked dangerous on the flanks as King Faisal struggled to deal with the long crosses Umar Manaf and Raddy Ovouka were putting in the box.

Hearts of Oak went to sleep early on in the second stanza just like they did in the 2-0 defeat against Aduana Stars in midweek as King Faisal drew level.

Wadudu sent in a superb cross for Kwadwo Frimpong to nod home the equalizer in the 50th minute.

Kign Faisal took hold of the game there on, creating several chances to go ahead but failed to apply the finishing touch.

Dominic Eshun, who came in for Michelle Sarpong in the 68th minute, had a wonderful opportunity to put Hearts in the driving seat after he was perfectly set up with only goalkeeper Yuisu Kaisan to beat but he delayed as ya the keeper closed the angle, forcing him to miss the chance.

Hearts of Oak were fortunate after referee Philip Attah Forson adjudged Pius Baffour Awuah to handled the ball with on a minute to the end of regulation time.

Umar Manaf stepped up to score from the resultant penalty to give the visitors a 2-1 victory.

Hearts of Oak climb to 5th on the table with 8 points from 6 matches while King Faisal remain 16th with 4 points.

King Faisal Babies will on Saturday fight to get back to winning ways when they take Accra Hearts of Oak in their Premier League game at the Nana Gyeabuor park at Techiman.

King Faisal are desperate to turn their fortunes around having won just 1 game, lost 3 and drawn 1 of the first 5 games of the season. (W1 D1 L3).

Both Hearts of Oak and King Faisal lost in midweek, setting the stage for an exciting contest they fight to avoid a second straight defeat. Hearts of Oak lost 2-0 to Aduana Stars at Dormaa. While King Faisal got walloped 5-1 by AshantiGold at Obuasi.

King Faisal will go into the game wounded following that embarrassing 5-1 loss on Wednesday.

Coach Slaviša Bozicic’s side have conceded the most goals (12) in the competition with the 5-1 loss, being their worst of the season.

Accra Hearts of Oak moved straight to Techiman after the game against Aduana Stars at Dormaa. They move into Saturday’s fixture reeling from their poor outing on Wednesday, a 2-0 loss to Aduana Stars.

Kosta Papic’s team sit in 9^th place on the standings with 5 points while King Faisal languish in the bottom half of the table with 4 points.

The Phobians are seeking to end their inconsistent form in the top-flight having failed to taste glory in five games on the road.

King Faisal are hoping to get back to winning ways as they host the Phobians on Saturday.

Benjamin Acquah’s first half brace helped Ebusua Dwarfs to their first win on the road in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League on Friday night with victory over Legon Cities. 

Acquah scored twice before the half hour mark, but Legon Cities pulled one back right at the stroke of half time through defender Joseph Adjei.

The game started with high intensity as as the two teams were eager to break the deadlock, but it was the visitors who netted first through striker Benjamin Acquah after just 14 minutes.

Legon Cities struggled to contain the Crabs and just at the half hour mark, Acquah netted his second.

But Legon Cities were awarded a penalty at the stroke of half time which was converted by former Ghana U-20 defender Joseph Adjei.

The hosts returned from the break more determined for an equalizer, and came close through Baba Mahama whose effort went straight into the hands of goalkeeper Yusuf Razak.

Despite the pressure from Cities in the second half they failed to take their chances leaving them to another defeat in the campaign.

The win lifts Dwarfs to six on the table with Legon Cities misery compounding as they fall deep into relegation dogfight.

Bechem United pulled the brakes on Karela United’s unbeaten run with a 2-1 win on matchday six of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League at the Nana Fosu Gyabour park.

Bechem United, the home side started the game with a lot of possession as they tried to unsettle Karela United in the opening minutes.

Karela United goalkeeper Richard Baidoo came up with a brilliant save to deny Bechem United from scoring the first goal of the game in the 18th minute.

The first half ended goalless with the two sides failing to put the ball into the net.

Stephen Owusu broke the deadlock for the home side  just after recess as he headed the ball into the net from a cross as Karela United goalkeeper Richard Baidoo failed to grab the ball.

Karela United got the equalizer in the 57th minute through star man  Diawisie Taylor.

Stephen Owusu nearly increased the lead for Bechem United in the 64th minute but his effort went off target for a goal kick.

Karela United goalkeeper Richard Baidoo was shown a yellow card for time delay but the goalkeeper complained about injury.

Bechem goalkeeper Prince Asempa came up with a beautiful save to deny Karela United a second goal as Diawiase Taylor effort struck the goalkeeper’s leg from entering the net in the 79th minute.

Bechem United appealed for a penalty in the 84th minute following calls of a handball in the opponent goal area but the referee ignored and waved for play to continue.

Listowel Amankona scored the winner for Bechem United after he latched onto a rebound and tapped the ball into the net in the 89th minute.

Karela United have been beaten for the first time this season on matchday six and may have to relinquish their position as league leaders in week six with other games coming up.
