Veteran coach JE Sarpong has stated that he was not surprised when he heard about the sacking of Maxwell Konadu as head coach of Asante Kotoko.

According to the experienced trainer, Konadu was destined to fail because second terms are always difficult for most coaches in football.

The former Black Stars assistant coach was fired by the Porcupine Warriors last week Friday after 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics in match-day 3 outstanding Ghana Premier League clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Konadu guided Kotoko to secure one win, three draws and one loss in the games he played in the new season.

Speaking to Accra-based Asaase Radio, Konadu’s decision to reunite with his former club was wrong and was destined to fail.

“Second returns are always dangerous and it played a part in his sack. We saw Kwesi Appiah when he returned to the Black Stars as head coach. His performance was good but in the end, he was sacked and his contract was not renewed.

“I am worried about Kotoko at the moment because getting a coach to fix the situation will be an issue. I wish them the best of luck but this cannot keep happening,” he added.

Konadu joined Kotoko in 2011 but resigned after winning the club’s 22nd league title and securing qualification to the 2013 Caf Champions League.

He rejoined the Ghanaian giants in December last year after Kjetil Zachariassen was sacked.

Johnson Smith who was the assistant to Konadu has been named as the interim manager of Kotoko.

The GFA Ethics Committee at its meeting held on November 19, 2020 found Daniel Kwame Nsiah, a Referee and District Technical Instructor, guilty of having breached Article 25 of the GFA Code of Ethics (Abuse of position) of the GFA Code of Ethics (2019).

The Committee commenced investigations into Mr. Daniel Kwame Nsiah’s conduct after receiving GFA’s Integrity Report which accused Mr. Nsiah of arranging a meeting between the President of Unity FC Richmond Osei and Referees for the Club’s 2019/20 Division One League match against Wa Suntaa.

In arriving at its decision, the Committee found that Mr. Nsiah had invited the Referee for the match, namely Foster Bastious and his Assistant Kingsley Asare to meet an official of Unity FC ahead of the said match. It was found that the official of Unity FC was Richmond Osei.

It was found that Daniel Kwame Nsiah received the money from the said Richmond Osei to serve as an intermediary and had communicated the request of Richmond Osei to the said referees.

The Committee found that the referees had rejected the gesture and had told Daniel Kwame Nsiah to return the money on the basis that they were not interested in Richmond Osei’s request for his team to be given favourable officiating in the match.

On the basis of its investigations, the Committee found Mr. Daniel Kwame Nsiah guilty of breaching Article 25.2 which imposes the following sanctions in case of violation:

1. Banning from all football-related activities for a period of two years, and
2. A fine of GHC5,000.

COMMITTEE’S DECISION

The decision of the Committee is:

1. To waive the two-year ban that should have been imposed on Daniel Kwame Nsiah, for his cooperation with the Committee throughout the investigations.
2. Daniel Kwame Nsiah is to pay the fine of GHC5000. Payment shall be made to the GFA within14 days after receipt of this Decision.

Should Mr. Daniel Kwame Nsiah be dissatisfied with or aggrieved by this Decision, he has within One (1) day of being notified of the grounds of the decision to appeal to the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

The GFA Ethics Committee has decided to ban Mr. Kofi Manu from taking part in all football-related activity for a period of One year forbreaching Article 18 of the GFA Code of Ethics (2019).

The GFA Ethics Committee at its meeting held on December 10, 2020 found Mr. Kofi Manu to have breached Article 18 of the GFA Code of Ethics (2019) (Duty to Cooperate) which imposes a duty to assist and cooperate truthfully, fully and in good faith with the Ethics Committee at all times, and not to take any action actually or apparently intended to obstruct, evade, or otherwise interfere with any actual or potential Ethic Committee proceedings.

The Committee has commenced proceedings into Mr. Kofi Manu’s alleged involvement in Tiger Eye’s Number 12 Documentary. Mr. Manu was served notice in a letter dated November 23, 2020, to appear before the Committee in person on Thursday December 3, 2020.

A copy of the Tiger Eye’s video was added to the letter.  However Mr. Manu failed to appear before the GFA Ethics Committee. Mr Manu had also failed to honour a previous invitation to appear before the Ethics Committee on November 19, 2020.

In a letter dated December 1, 2020, Mr. Manu raised various issues which could have been resolved if he had attended the meeting scheduled for December 3, 2020.

On the basis of his conduct, the Committee found Mr. Kofi Manu guilty of breaching Article 18 which imposes the following sanctions in case of violation:

1. fine of at least GHc5,000
2. a ban on taking part in any football-related activity for a maximum of two years

Going forward, the Committee expects Mr. Kofi Manu to act in good faith and desist from acts that could bring the image of the game and the GFA into disrepute.

COMMITTEE’S DECISION

The decision of the Committee is:

1. To ban Mr. Kofi Manu from taking part in any football-related activity for a period of One Year with immediate effect in accordance with Article 18(6), of the GFA Code of Ethics.
2. To impose on Mr. Kofi Manu a fine in the amount of GHc5000. Payment shall be made to the GFA within 14 days after receipt of this Decision
3. Kofi Manu is expected to appear at the Committee’s next sitting on Wednesday December 30, 2020 at 4:00pm, failing which the Committee will proceed with its work without further reference to him.

Should Mr. Kofi Manu be dissatisfied with or aggrieved by this Decision, he has within Three (3) days of being notified of the grounds of the decision to appeal to the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association.
