Former Black Stars coach, James Kwasi Appiah will be in the stands to offer technical assistance to the technical bench of Asante Kotoko when they battle Al-Hilal in the CAF Champions League clash on Wednesday(today).

The Porcupine Warriors will battle the Sudanese side at the Accra Sports Stadium as they seek for a group stage spot in the elite competition.

The Ghanaian giants sacked their head coach, Maxwell Konadu last week Friday after a 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League.

Coach Johnson Smith was appointed as an interim coach, but he is not eligible to head the technical team because he does not hold a CAF license A certificate which will qualify him to sit on the bench.

According to footy.ghpush.com/ sources, Coach Abdulai Gazale's name will appear on the team sheet of Kotoko as head coach this afternoon because he holds a CAF license A certificate.

However, Information reaching Oyerepa FM Sports is that Coach James Kwasi Appiah will be in the stands to offer technical support to Asante Kotoko when the Porcupines play Al Hilal of Sudan.

It would be recalled that Appiah has had stints with Sudanese side Al Khartoum and will have much information about the style of play of the visitors.

The match is scheduled to kick off 15:00 GMT.

It will be live on GTVSports+ and Kotoko partners CEEK VR.

Football administrator Kofi Manu says ‘he laughed a 100 gallons’ upon hearing his one-year ban by the Ghana Football Association.

This was after Manu breached Article 18 of the Ghana FA Code of Ethics (2019) (Duty to Cooperate) which imposes a duty to assist and cooperate truthfully, fully and in good faith with the Ethics Committee.

The Committee has opened proceedings into Manu’s alleged involvement in the Number 12 Documentary-an investigative piece by famed journalist Anas Armeyaw Anas where several members of the Ghana FA were caught on tape allegedly taking bribes.

He failed to honour a previous invitation to appear before the Committee on 19 November, 2020.

But Manu argues that the Ethics Committee is an illegality and had written to the Ghana FA telling them members did not have the competence and capacity to sit on his case.

”Let me say on authority that, that ban served on me yesterday [Monday] has no effect,” an upset Manu said on Asempa FM.

He added: ” Because the committee that served the ban is unlawfully constituted based on the Code of Ethics and I want to say on authority and emphatically that I shall never, never on any occasion appear before this committee if it exists in this form as constituted now.

”I can only appear when they have two chambers [Adjudicatory and Investigatory] as demanded by the Code of Ethics.

”So the Committee members if they are listening to me well they must understand that the work they have is gone to nothing.

”Yesterday, I laughed a 100 gallons because the GFA is a laughing stock.”

The television star who is known to be a staunch supporter of the Wonder Club has donated some items worth thousands of cedis to the club at their training grounds Tuesday.

The items included bags of rice, soft drinks, boxes of bottle water, energy drinks etc

According to Nana Aba Anamoah, she presented the items to them as a gift for beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko, WAFA and other teams. She also expressed how impressed she is with the current form of the club.

“Christmas is here and I’ve been impressed with the team’s recent form especially after beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Accra. That is the highlight of 2020 for me. 2020 has been a tough year but beating Kotoko in Accra made my day”, Nana Aba said.

She also encouraged the team to continue with their wonderful performance.

“I hope that the winning streak continues because we are the greatest team in Ghana”, she added.

Nana Aba also used this gesture as an opportunity to thank the team for making the fans happy this season.

Officials of the club received the items on the behalf of the team and expressed gratitude for her kind actions.

The team has been brilliant so far in the early stages of the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

Accra Great Olympics is third on the league log with an outstanding game, having won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1.

The team takes on Ebusua Dwarfs on Thursday to clear off their outstanding game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana U-20 trainer, Abdul-Karim Zito believes that Asante Kotoko erred in sacking Maxwell Konadu.

The Porcupine Warriors fired the former Black Stars assistant coach after losing 1-0 to Great Olympics in the week 3 Ghana Premier League outstanding fixture.

A section of the local media and fans have indicated that the decision by the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management is premature.

According to Zito, Konadu’s sacking was wrong because he did nothing wrong.

“I am not happy Kotoko axed Maxwell Konadu because he has done nothing wrong.” Zito told Ashh FM after Kotoko win against Dreams FC.

“We have just played 6 matches and they should have given him time because the players are new and now playing together and it will take time for them to assemble a strong team.

Zito didn’t rule out Kotoko return When asked if he will be available should Kotoko consider him for the vacant post

“I am a professional coach and if Kotoko needs me they should go to the management of Dreams Fc because I work for them.

“For me, I don’t like foreign coaches because the apparatus they use to train coaches in Europe, we have non of them in Ghana and I can use empty sachet rubber to form cones to coach here in Ghana but the foreign coaches can’t do it.”he added.

Halmstads BK forward Sadat Karim has described Asante Kotoko Brazilian midfielder Fabio Dos Santos Gama as ‘very good player ‘.

The 28-year-old joined the Porcupine Warriors on a free transfer in October this year, having been without a club since parting ways with Swedish second-tier outfit Jonkoping Sodra in March.

Despite being a former Brazil youth star, having represented the South American nation at U17 and U20 levels, many have questioned his quality although he is yet to be seen in a game for the Ghanaian giants.

The midfielder is the third Brazilian to sign for Kotoko in the last 15 years following Gleisson de Souza Ferreira in 2005 and Hermes da Silva in 2013.

According to Sadat – who played in the Swedish league with the Brazilian – Fabio Gama is a quality player who controls and does everything well with the ball.

However, he is afraid that the Brazilian could fail due to the nature of pitches he will be playing on in the country and the weather conditions.

“I saw Fabio Gama in the Swedish league even though we were in a different club. He’s very good, ” he told Kumasi-based Pure FM.

” His control and everything but the only thing am afraid of is the kind of pitches we have in the country and the weather condition.”

Fabio Gama is expected to play his first game for Kotoko very soon after securing the necessary documents that will allow him to feature for his new employers.

The Ghana Football Association has released fixtures for the 2020/21 Ghana Women’s Premier League season which is scheduled to kick off on Friday, January 15, 2020 across the country.

The upcoming season is expected to run through till June 14, 2021.

Prison Ladies, Kumasi Sports Academy, Ashtown ladies, Soccer Intellectuals, Police Ladies, Halifax Ladies and Lady strikers will all begin the new season at home whereas Ampem Darkoa FC , Sea Lions FC and Immigration Ladies will be on the road on Matchday 1 of the season.

Kumasi Sports Academy will welcome neighbors Ampem Darkoa FC with the game between Lady strikers and Hasaacas Ladies FC promises to be a cracker.

Weekend matches may be played on Fridays, Saturday, Sundays or Monday
