Supporters of Hearts of Oak demand immediate reconstitution of board of Directors

Leadership of the Supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak has asked the leadership of the club to with immediate effect reconstitute the members of the board of directors of the club.

The supporters led its chairman Elvis Herman Hesse in a speech delivered at the club’s secretariat presented a 4 point resolution to the board of the club to ensure the club is repositioned.

The Supporters are also demanding the Appointment of a new chief executive officer and a new Coach for the club.

Below is the full statement from the National Chapters Committee of the club.

DEMAND FOR A ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WITH BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Kindly accept our warm compliments.

At a meeting of the leadership and the entire supporters front of our Great Club Accra Hearts of Oak, we have come to a situation where we believe this is thw right time for the Board of Directors of the Club to offer some pertinent answers and actions to the Supporters at this crucial moment the club finds itself.

We do this inview of the fact that our dear club has had its fortunes sunk both on and off the field of play.

The Supporters are therefore demanding the following.

_Below is the resolution of the Supporters of the club_

1. The NCC on behalf of Supporters and other Organs of the club [Hearts Ladies, Ahoopa etc] is calling for the immediate reconstitution of the Club’s Board of Directors to make accommodation for stakeholders and Minority shareholders and holding of the long overdue Annual General meeting of the Club.

2. The NCC demands an emergency meeting with the majority shareholders for briefs on the current state and happenings in the Club

3.The NCC demands immediate consensus stakeholder meeting between the majority/Minority (Shareholders) on one hand, and other key organs of the Club in order to Foster lasting Unity for the Club.

4. The NCC demands an immediate appointment of a CEO/First Team [Local] Coach and this must be done in consultation with all stakeholders of the Club to energize support base of the Club.

It is our utmost belief that the club can return to its glorious days if these demands are met by the board of directors

U-20 Afcon: Boah scores twice as Black Satellites thrash debutants Tanzania

Three-time champions Ghana sent a strong message to rival title contenders with a 4-0 mauling of debutants Tanzania in their Group C opener at the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania on Tuesday.

A brace from Percious Boah, a sensational strike by 16-year old Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Joselpho Barnes’ goal earned the Black Satellites the massive win at Stade Municipal de Noadhibou.

Boah’s free-kick and Fatawu’s strike from the halfway line earned the Black Satellites a 2-0 lead at halftime with the burly striker completing his brace in the second half as the Ghanaians showed their early intention at the biennial tournament.

Ghana were leading by the break and duly deserved as they had been the more enterprising side in attack.

They were ahead after just four minutes when Boah’s freekick from range took an awkward bounce in front of keeper Daniel Mgore and leaped into the bottom left corner.

Tanzania were guilty of giving away cheap freekicks in dangerous positions and they survived two subsequent dead-ball situations with Boah driving both into the wall.

Tanzania had a glimpse of goal twice in succession in the 12th and 15th minutes, first Hassan Kapalata hitting one from range which skied inches over while the second from Novatus Dismas also flew over the bar.

On the other end, Ghana should have doubled the tally and Boah completed his brace when they turned over possession, the quick feet of Mohammed Sulemana feeding Boah on the left, but the striker’s shot flew over the bar.

Tanzania had slowly grown into the game and pulled the strings well in their passing, but failed to pose any danger on the most important end of the pitch; the final third.

Their surge was punctured right on the bally on the half-hour mark when Abdul Fatawi noticed Tanzania goalie Mgore off his line and took a brilliant shot a few yards away from the halfway line, dipping beyond the shot-stopper and into the net.

Stunned after going two down within half an hour, Tanzania remained determined to turn the tide, and they should have done better four minutes to the break when Abdul Hamisi brilliantly cut the ball back from the left, but South Africa based forward Ally Msengi struck the ball high and wide from good scoring range.

The Ngorongoro Heroes came back off the break a different side and straight from the restart piled the pressure on the Ghanaians. Nassor Hamoud was brought in for Kapalata, a change that was meant to solidify the midfield as they sought to overturn the deficit.

They came close nine minutes into the second period when Hamisi collected the ball from the left off a throwing but his shot on quick turning went just inches wide.

They came ever so close in the 67th minute when some beautiful combination play on the left saw a cross come in, but Kevin John’s well-angled header struck the bar. Almost immediately, Tanzania had another chance, Hamisi again galloping away on the right from a quick turn of play, but his final shot was inches over the bar.

Tanzania’s fight was punctured and perhaps put off in the 71st minute when Boah completed his brace with another sensational strike. The burly striker picked up a cross from Mohamed on the right before some magic feet sat his defender down to give him space to fire a left-foot belter past the keeper.

Tanzania attempted to respond with two shots from John, but both were easily collected by the Ghanaian keeper.

It was all over for Tanzania two minutes to time when the Black Satellites sealed the victory, Barnes signing off with the fourth with a calm finish past the keeper after Mathew Cudjoe’s defense splitting pass cited his brilliant run into the box.

#GPLwk14 Match Report: Abbey Quaye nets winner as Great Olympics go second

Maxwell Abbey Quaye scored in the 21stminute as Great Olympics pip Elmina Sharks 1-0 at the Accra sports stadium to go second Tuesday.

The Dade boys took advantage of a sloppy play from Sharks as they dominated the opening minutes of the game.

Life wire Gladson Awako controlled the ball before sending a delicious pass to Razak Kassim who sent in an intelligent pass to forward Manan Mudasiru. Kasim laid the ball into the path of Abbey to slot home for the opener.

The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Great Olympics.

Back from recess, Great Olympics created some decent chances in search of the second goal but striker Mudasiru Manan and Abbey Quaye missed the two that came their way with Elmina Sharks goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey standing in their way.

Elmina Sharks then had moments that struck fear in Olympics, with Alhaji Mustapha and Tahiru Mensah coming close but they fluffed those chances.

The victory sends Olympics second on the table as Elmina Sharks’ record their first defeat in the last six matches.

Hearts of Oak sacks Sabahn Quaye from team manager role – Report

Accra hearts of Oak has completed a total overhaul of their technical set up with the Sacking of the last man standing Sabbahn Quaye as the team’s Manager.

Sabahn Quaye who’s been team manager for more than a decade, remained the only technical member of the team still at post following the resignation of the entire set up led by Head Coach Kosta Papic, Assistant coach Joseph Asare Adjei and Goalkeepers coach Ben Owu.

A directive from the Board has asked Sabahn Quaye to leave his position as the club prepares to name a new Technical team.

Source close to 442gh.com say the board has not been happy with Sabahn Quaye for revealing to them the identity of the man alleged to be influencing selection of the coach.

Sabahn Quaye was said to have told the board in an emergency meeting that Alhaji Braimah Akambi and Mr Vincent Sowah Odotei were the individuals manipulating the coach’s selection.

Our source at the club’s traning grounds say Sabahn Quaye was told of his dismissal from the club after completing the day’s training with the team.

Kosta Papic reveals why he resigned as Hearts of Oak Head Coach

Kosta Papic has disclosed why he resigned from his position as the head coach for Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak.

The 60-year-old didn’t show up for training on Monday, February 15, 2021 and has left his job as the head coach of the Phobians.

He tendered in his resignation letter on Monday.

He becomes the second person to quit his job within the Hearts technical set up following the resignation of Asare Bediako as the assistant coach last week.

The former African champions have been churning out unfavourable results in their recent games as huge pressure continue to mount on the Sebian gaffer.

However, Papic reveals that, boardroom interference on his player selection is one of the reasons behind his decision to quit the club.

“The influences from the management and Board in player selections will make every professional coach uncomfortable at Hearts of Oak,” Papic revealed to Accra-based Angel FM.

The former Chippa United manager was appointed in November 2020 for a second stint with the club having coached the Phobians in 2009.

He replaced Edward Nii Odoom after just two matches into the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

Papic guided the Rainbow club in 10 matches in the Ghanaian premiership where he won four, drew three and lost three.

Cephas Doku late strike ensured Legon Cities avoided defeat at home to King Faisal in this matchday 14 fixture of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The game ended 1-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Legon Cities started the game with a lot of intent in on winning the game by dominating playing in the opening minutes.

The first half ended goalless as both sides failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

King Faisal took the lead in the 77th minute after a sloppy defensive blunder.

Cephas Duku drew level for Legon Cities with his brilliant left footed curler in the 81st minute to rescue Legon Cities from defeat.

The two sides shared the spoils after 90 minutes.

Hearts Of Oak goalkeepers’ trainer Ben Owu resigns

Hearts of Oak goalkeepers’ coach Ben Owu has resigned from his post with immediate effect just minutes after the departure of the club’s head coach Kosta Papic .

Head coach Kosta Papic left the club on Monday after tendering in his resignation letter to the board of directors following a meeting.

Owu joined the Hearts of Oak in December 2019 from AshantiGold SC after his fo iour years spell with the Miners came to an end.

He has rich experience on the local scene having been goalkeepers’ coach for Sekondi Hasaacas, Medeama SC and King Faisal Babes.

Owu becomes the 3rd person to leave his post in the Hearts of Oak technical department as assistant coach Asare Bediako also resigned last week.

The Serbian gaffer has tendered in his resignation letter to the hierarchy of the club after a meeting on Monday, February 15, 2021.

Ghana Premier League side Accra Great Olympics have completed the acquisition of midfielder James Akaminko on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old joins the Wonder Club on a two-year deal after fruitful negotiations.

Akaminko was without a club after his three-year contract with US Tataouine was cancelled after failing to impress the club’s technical team during their preseason exercise.

He joined US Tataouine following the expiration of his contract with Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold SC.

He was a key member at AshantiGold during his three-year stay at the club since he joined the Miners from Tema Youth FC in 2017.

Akaminko also had stint with Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC but he left after one season due to lack of regular playing time.

He featured 15 times for AshantiGold SC in the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.

Ukraine chasing former Ghana U-17 defender Najeeb Yakubu

Ukraine Association of Football(UAF) are chasing former Ghana Under-17 defender, Najeeb Yakubu to switch his nationally and play for their country.

The 20-year-old has attracted the attention of the football officials at the European country and they bent on holding talks with him about a possible switch of international allegiance.

Yakubu currently plays for FC Vorskla Poltava. The Ghanaian youngster joined the Ukrainian top-flight club in 2018 after ending his stay with New Town Youth, where he has since improved his game.

His initial 3-year contract would have expired at the end of the 2020/2021 football season but FC Vorskla Poltava extended his stay by 4 years last year.

The former Unistar Academy defender is ready to accept a call-up to their national team.

“I want to become the first black player in the national team of Ukraine. If I’m called to the Ukrainian National team, I agree. If there is such an opportunity, I certainly agree, ” he told Sportsarena

“Just what, I like it in your country. Ukraine is my second home. Ghana is the house where I grew up. But I love Ukraine.

” Glory to Ukraine. And one more thing; I am a good boy.”

Najeeb was a key member of Ghana’s U17 side at the 2017 FIFA World Cup in India, playing all five matches for the Black Starlets.
