Dreams FC sign midfielder Baki Mohammed

Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC have announced the signing of a professional contract with young midfielder Baki Mohammed Jiji Alifoe.

As the second window comes to a close in the Ghanaian football transfer period, Dreams FC have again unleashed a staggering midfield force into the ongoing season.

The young baller dripping of talent is an offensive midfielder and will line up for the ‘Still Believe’ lads in matches as the league wears off.

Baki Mohammed Jiji Alifoe will be expected to join the attacking brains of the club to help increase the goal-scoring prowess of the club.

Club Consult Africa denies Habib Mohammed handing in transfer request

Club Consult Africa – representatives of Habib Mohammed, have stated emphatically that their client has not handed in a transfer request to leave Asante Kotoko as reported in the local media.

According to the hierarchy of the player management agency, the lanky centre-back has a contract with Asante Kotoko and is ready to stay and fight for the club.
 

Reports emerged on Monday morning that Habib Mohammed is said to be unhappy with the lack of first-team action at the club in recent times and has handed in a written transfer request to the club for an imminent departure.

The report further stated that Habib is also not happy with how management has handled offers that came his way.

But his agency has denied the report in a tweet

Two Asante Kotoko players hand in transfer request

Two Asante Kotoko players have handed in a written transfer request to the club for an imminent departure, according to reports monitored on Oyerepa FM.

Asante Kotoko centre-back Wahab Adams and Habib Mohammed are said to be unhappy with the lack of first-team action at the club in recent times.

According to Kumasi-based radio station Oyerepa FM, the duo has officially written to the management of the Asante Kotoko to cancel their contract citing a lack of playing time.

Habib is also not happy with how management has handled offers that came his way. Reports indicate the hierarchy of the club rejected offers from Turkey and recently the USA.

Adams’ contract with the Porcupine Warriors expires in December 2022 but the former Aduana Stars defender wants to look elsewhere before the Ghana Football Association second backlinensfer window closes.

The two players have been struggling to find a place in the starting line up of Asante Kotoko at the back line with the presence of Abdul Ganiyu, Mubarik Yusif,etc

However, the timing of this decision to leave the club will another bitter blow to the Asante Kotoko whose fans are devastated with the recent players’ exodus

Northern Ladies’ FC striker Anatu Sadat becomes the first player to play in “Yaatuiba” in the Women’s League

Northern ladies FC striker, Anatu Sadat becomes the first player to wear the “Yaatuiba” in a 2020/2021 Women’s Premier League.

The former Right to Dream and Nimoobi Ladies FC player was spotted covered-up in a Nike branded “Yaatuiba” when her side took on Ampem Darkoa Ladies in Techiman on Match day 7.

She is the first player to benefit from the “ Maxwell Woledzi project” aimed at providing such apparels to Muslim girls in Ghana who are into football and willing to honor their faith along side.

Though Anatu Sadat is the first beneficiary, Muslim players in Northern Ladies willing to wear the “Yaatuiba” will be used as models before extending it to all Muslim players in the Women’s League.

The package includes a sports bra, boots, and long stretch coverings for the legs and this initiative comes as a relief to Muslim girls willing to play active football but are restricted due challenges of exposure.

GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo expressed the Association’s appreciation of the gesture and stated that the GFA supports such initiatives to create the enabling environment for players to exhibit their talents

“Through our core value of inclusiveness and creating enabling environment for every player to feel comfortable and exhibit their talents, the Football Association allows wearing of the “Yaatuiba” during our league games.

“The FA is appreciative of any initiative aimed at eliminating any hindrance or anything that inhibit any of our players from exhibiting their talent and enjoy long our football.”

“We believe through initiatives as such, we can bring back the love “, said the FA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo told ghanafa.org.

Maxwell Woledzi is a former Right to Dreams defender now with FC Nordsjælland. He started this free distribution project last year using girls in Nima as models before extending it to his former mate, Anatu Sadat.

The four coaches were nominated for the award after following impressive performances of their clubs in the month of February.

Before moving to Hearts of Oak, Coach Samuel Boadu led Medeama SC to three wins and one away win in the month of February.

Dreams FC coach Vladislav got his second successive nomination after leading his side to three home wins and one away win.

Abu Abdul-Hanan of Berekum Chelsea also saw his side secure three home wins and a draw away last month.

Véron Mosengo-Omba appointed CAF General Secretary

Véron Mosengo-Omba will leave his role as Chief Officer of the Fifa member associations (MAs) division with immediate effect to take on the position of Caf General Secretary.

Mr Mosengo-Omba initially joined Fifa in 2016 as Chief Member Associations Officer with responsibility for Africa and the Caribbean, and subsequently spent the past two years supporting all Fifa 211 MAs to implement the FIFA Forward development programme, as well as managing relationships with all Fifa MAs and continental confederations in his role as Chief Officer of the division.

A native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mr Mosengo-Omba was particularly involved in supporting the 54 African MAs in their Fifa Forward projects, in the development of youth and women’s football throughout the continent, and in the recent implementation of the Fifa COVID-19 Relief Plan.

Fifa President Gianni Infantino and Fifa Secretary General Fatma Samoura issued a joint statement expressing their gratitude for the work that Mr Mosengo-Omba has overseen at Fifa.

“On behalf of all of Fifa, we would like to thank Véron Mosengo-Omba for his excellent work and wish him the very best of luck in his next challenge as Caf General Secretary,” it read.

“Fifa also looks forward to working with him on future projects in helping to project African football to the summit of world football.”

FEATURE: Kwame Opoku’s Imminent Exit Leaves Kotoko Richer Off The Pitch, And Poorer On It

It’s easy to forget that there was a time when Asante Kotoko could hold on to its best players for years — even up to an entire decade.

These days, top performers do well to last a full season on Kotoko’s books, and, for a fact, striker Kwame Opoku won’t be reckoned among those exceptions.

Opoku, if you’ve been paying attention to the news over the last few days, is on his way to Algerian club USM Alger, for a deal that rewards him and Kotoko handsomely.

The decision to head to North Africa, however, doesn’t appear to be Opoku’s. Kotoko, a club drowning in overwhelming financial commitments, saw the chance to make a healthy profit on a player recruited for far less only about a year ago, and jumped at the offer.

Financially, Opoku’s departure should pay off pretty well. Kotoko, it would seem, has hit the jackpot, raking in money it could certainly make use of right now. From a purely footballing perspective, though, the vacuum created is the last thing Kotoko needs.

See, Kotoko’s fourth spot on this season’s Ghana Premier League table rests on two pillars: the division’s best defence, and Opoku’s finishing. The latter has accounted for over half of Kotoko’s 13 league goals; the next player on that chart, on two strikes, is a rather adventurous left-back.

On that front, then, Kotoko is struggling to compete with the rest of the field; only Inter Allies (bottom) and Liberty Professionals (next to bottom), enduring truly wretched campaigns, have scored less.

Opoku was arguably the most valuable attacker Kotoko had — the goose that lay the golden eggs, if you like — but Kotoko have cashed in on it, leaving the team a little lean upfront.

There is hope that young Osman Ibrahim can take up that leading role, but he is only just returning from injury, and hasn’t yet settled in fully at the club (having spent much of the period since his 2018 arrival on loan).

Kotoko could also look to Naby Keita, whose winner against King Faisal last Wednesday — in what was almost certainly Opoku’s farewell game — seemed to make a case for him as a viable alternative.

The Guinean import, though, can only be trusted to score with any regularity from 12 yards, yet even that reputation appears to have been dented somewhat by a costly failure to convert a penalty in Kotoko’s most recent continental tie.

Oh, Evans Adomako?

Well, let’s just say Kotoko would be better off looking elsewhere for answers.

Hitting the market with good money to spend could open up other options, but that guarantees very little. There aren’t, after all, many in the top-flight capable of matching — let alone exceeding — Opoku’s standards.

Of the handful who tick that box, Kotoko would have a hard time prising any away from their current employers — most of whom might actually consider Kotoko a direct title rival — halfway through this keenly contested season.

Kotoko might find a more willing seller among lower-tier clubs — from where it dug up Opoku’s special gifts — but, even there, the Porcupine Warriors could run into a brick wall in pursuit of the player rumoured to be their priority target, Bofoakwa Tano’s nine-goal striker Welbeck Takyi.

The Sunyani-based Division One League club’s hierarchy doesn’t appear too keen on doing business with Kotoko, and the record Premier League champions might want to quickly refocus on more realistic prospects, given that the mid-season transfer window closes in — *checks calendar* — exactly four days.

A failure to find some sort of solution to this headache, from within or without, could leave lots of cash in Kotoko’s hands — and lots of egg on its face.

Great Olympics midfielder Michael Yeboah, Hans Kwoffie of Legon Cities and Dreams FC’s Joseph Esso have all earned recognition for their respective performances in last month.

These are top performers in the Ghanaian top-flight having considering the number of Player of the match awards won and goals scored in the month.

The winner of the Player of the Month for February award will be announced on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

The Winner will receive a NASCO Television set and a personalized trophy.
