COACH Samuel Boadu has named a strong starting lineup for Dreams FC showdown this afternoon at the Dawu Park in a matchday 22 battle of the Ghana Premier League.

Right-back Caleb Amankwah gets his second start since joining the Phobians after his debut start in the 1-1 draw with Karela United.

William Dankyi maintained his position at the left-back while goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah remains in the posts.

Former Black Stars striker, Asamoah Gyan has hit back at football fans who jeered at him during a game for club side, Legon Cities FC against Kotoko in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The veteran striker was making an appearance for the Royals in match day 22 when he replaced experienced forward, Hans Kwoffie on the 75th minute.

His inclusion was not enough to salvage a point for Legon Cities who had already succumbed to an Augustine Okrah tipped-in goal from Fabio Gama’s free kick in the 13th minute for Kotoko.

The former Sunderland striker was booed by some fans but Gyan describes their actions as hypocritical.

“There is only one Asamoah Gyan.

“They [fans] can boo, they know they are hypocrites but they know there is only one Asamoah Gyan.

“There is only one Asamoah Gyan, they can say I am arrogant, I will be arrogant because they know the hard truth.

“I’m just here to help my team.They should even be thankful I’m in the league.

“So it is what it is.” Asamoah Gyan said.

Gyan, who is Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals is yet to replicate his old form at Cities ever since his acquisition in a reported $1 million deal.

The 35-year-old has travelled wide after cutting his teeth with Dansoman based Liberty Professionals.

Notable among clubs he has featured for are, Rennes of France, Sunderland in England, Udinese and Modena in Italy and Kayserispor in Turkey.

He has spent some time in Asia with Al-Ain of Dubai, Shanghai SIPG of China and NorthEast United of India.

Striker Asamoah Gyan has hit out at his critics in Legon Cities’ 1-0 defeat to giants Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Porcupine Warriors secured all three points in the match-day 22 battle of the Ghana Premier League, thanks to Augustine Okrah’s 13th-minute strike.

The former Black Stars skipper was introduced in the last 15 minutes of the encounter as a replacement for Hans Kwoffie.

The former Sunderland striker received a hostile welcome from Asante Kotoko fans in the stands as he was booed by a section of them.

Responding to the boos during the post-match interview, Gyan said: “There’s only one Asamoah Gyan, they can boo. They know they are hypocrites and they know there’s only one Asamoah Gyan. They can say I’m arrogant, I’ll be arrogant because they know the hard truth.

“I’m just here to help my team. They should even be thankful I’m in the league. So it’s what it’s,” he added.

It would be recalled that Gyan was heavily linked with a move to Asante Kotoko before he joined the Royals before the commencement of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The report indicated that the Ghanaian giants were unable to meet Gyan’s demand.

The 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko leaves the Royals in the 16th position with 23 points after 22 games.

King Faisal are hoping for a positive start to the new month as they welcome Karela United on Sunday.

It has been a miserable past few months for the ‘Insha Allah boys’ who are languishing in 17th spot, 6 points ahead of basement club Inter Allies and tied with Eleven Wonders with 22 points apiece.

King Faisal come into this encounter with a lot of confidence as they shove off fellow relegation battlers, Inter Allies in a hard fought 1-0 win last weekend.

A win against Karela United will be huge statement of intent for surviving in the Ghana premier league.

Hearts of Oak will be looking to recover from last weekend’s lacklustre 1-1 draw to Karela United when they continue their GPL campaign away to Dreams FC on Sunday afternoon.

Samuel Boadu’s side missed the chance to move to the top of the table last time out and remain in third position heading into the next set of fixtures, while an inconsistent Dreams FC occupy 7th spot.

The ‘Still Believe’ boys left it very late before beating Karela United 1-0 at the Theatre of Dreams in their penultimate fixture to this one.

Serbian trainer, Vladislav Viric was not happy when his side drew 1-1 with Legon Cities last weekend and there is no question that it has been a desperately disappointing second round for the club.

Indeed, a record of eight wins, 7 draws and 6 losses so far in the competition doesn’t augur well for a side which had one of the brightest chances of clinching the ultimate at the end of the season.

There’s some good news as Mohammed Alhassan returns from suspension to bolster Boadu’s defensive options. The former WAFA captain missed the game against Karela due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

However, the Premier League giants will be without suspended trio – Raddy Ovouka, Obeng Junior and Ibrahim Salifu- as they miss out due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

Trusted Goalkeeper, Richard Attah still remains out of the team but Ben Mensah, who has been splendid in the second round retains his spot together with Richmond Ayi.

Hearts of Oak lie 3^rd on the league log with 34 points and will be on the look to bounce back to winning ways after drawing away to Karela.
