Hearts of Oak suffered a 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC, Asante Kotoko bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory against Legon Cities, whiles Medeama maintained their lead at the top with a resounding 3-0 victory against Ebusua Dwarfs.

Substitute Maxwell Boakye denied King Faisal a place above relegation in a 1-1 stalemate against Karela United

BEREKUM CHELSEA 2-3 WAFA

Poor travelers WAFA recorded only their 2nd victory away from home when they defeated Berekum Chelsea 3-2 at the Golden City park. Chelsea opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the game, Bright Amponsah scored from close range. WAFA pulled parity in the 22nd minute, Jostus Torsutsey the goal scorer. Minutes later, the academy boys took the lead through Enock Asubonteng. However, they failed to hold on to their lead into the break, Stephen Amankona scored from the spot to make it 2-2. WAFA regained their lead just two minutes into the second half through Abdul Basit Issah. Despite late pressure from Chelsea, WAFA held on to win 3-2.

ELEVEN WONDERS 2-1 ADUANA STARS

Eleven Wonders came from a goal down to beat Aduana Stars 2-1 and move out of the relegation zone. Wonders found themselves a goal down after just 13 minutes of play, skipper Bright Adjei reacted the quickest to a rebound to open the scoring for Aduana Stars. Just minutes later, Eleven Wonders pulled parity through Tetteh Nortey from the spot. In the second half, Eleven Wonders saw more of the ball and took a deserving lead in the 88th minute through Samuel Boakye, he beautifully controlled a ball from the edge of the box, went past a defender and curled the ball past the goalkeeper.

LEGON CITIES 0-1 ASANTE KOTOKO

Asante Kotoko defeated Legon Cities 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to bounce back to winning ways after failing to win their last two games. After an evenly contested opening minutes, Asante Kotoko opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Augustine Okrah. He made the slightest of contact to a free kick from Fabio Gama. The Porcupine Warriors came close to make it 2-0 in the 35th minute, Emmanuel Gyamfi reacted the quickest to a lose ball in the 18-yard box, but his effort was whisker away from the post. Legon Cities were the best side in the opening minutes of the second half and should have pulled parity in the 69th minute, Baba Mahama was set through on goal by Jonah Attuquaye, but he he failed to beat Razak Abalora after a decent run from almost the halfway line. Kotoko managed the game well in the remaining minutes to secure all three points.

GREAT OLYMPICS 2-0 LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS

Liberty Professionals saw their run of 3 consecutive victories come to an end after a 2-0 defeat to Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium. The Dade Boys took a deserving lead in the 37th minute through Maxwell Abbey Quaye. Hopes of grabbing the equalizer was shattered in the 85th minute when Joshua Rhule scored to make it 2-0 and hand Olympics their first win in 4 games.

BECHEM UNITED 2-1 INTER ALLIES

Bechem United compounded Inter Allies’ misery after defeating them 2-1 at the Nana Gyeabor park. After dominating the opening minutes of the game, Bechem United took the lead in the 28th minute through skipper Salifu Moro from the spot. Bechem United doubled their lead in the 42nd minute through Hafiz Konkoni. Inter Allies pulled one back in the 65th minute, goalkeeper Boubacar Sidiki Doumbia put the ball in his own net.

DREAMS 2-0 HEARTS OF OAK

Second half strikes by Ali Huzaif and Sylvester Simba handed Dreams FC a historic 2-0 victory against Hearts of Oak. Hearts of Oak started the game on the front foot and came close to taking the lead in the 9th minute, Daniel Afriyie took advantage of an error by goalkeeper Solomon Agbesie, but his final effort was cleared off the line by Massaudu Abdulai. Hearts of Oak came close again in the 14th minute, a powerful drive from Mohammed Fatawu was tipped over the bar by Solomon Agbesie. Just minutes into the second half, Hearts of Oak were reduced to 10 men after Nuru Sulley was shown a second yellow. Dreams took advantage of the resulting free kick to open the scoring, Ali Huzaif put the ball into the net from close range. Dreams FC extended their lead in additional time, substitute Sylvester Simba after a decent work from a short corner put the ball into the net from a tight angle to seal three points for his side.

ELMINA SHARKS 2-1 ASHANTIGOLD

Elmina Sharks came from a goal down to beat AshantiGold 2-1. The first half of the game ended scoreless, both sides had their chances. AshantiGold broke the deadlock in the minute through David Abagna. Elmina Sharks leveled the score in the 69th minute through Ishmael Hammond. Sharks took the lead for the first time in the game through Kingsley Braye, his first goal for the Fearsome Sharks. Sharks from then hold on to pick all points.

KING FAISAL 1-1 KARELA UNITED

King Faisal and Karela United shared spoils at the Ohene Ameyaw park. Alhaji Grusah’s side took the lead in the 17th minute through Zubairu Ibrahim. Karela came close to leveling the score twice, but both efforts struck the woodwork. Karela continued to mount pressure on King Faisal and finally had the equalizing goal in the final minutes of the game through Maxwell Boakye.

MEDEAMA 3-0 EBUSUA DWARFS

Medeama defeated Ebusua Dwarfs 3-0 to remain top of the league table. The first half of the game ended scoreless, with Dwarfs creating the best chances. Medeama came back from the break a different side and took the lead in the 49th minute through Ahmed Toure. Medeama doubled their lead in the 57th minute through Ibrahim Yaro, before Prince Opoku Agyemang scored in the 67th minutes to seal the victory.

Struggling Ghana Premier League side, Legon Cities are set to name Coach Maxwell Konadu as their new head coach, according to Joy Sports report.

The current coach of the side, Bashir Hayford has come under pressure following the poor performance of the side in the ongoing campaign.

The Royal current defeat came on Saturday evening when they lost to Asante Kotoko in a match-day 22 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to reports, the management are unhappy with the performance of the former AshantiGold head coach trainer and have decided to part ways with him

Joy Sports report that Legon Cities have reached a deal with Maxwell Konadu after talks were held on Saturday night and the 48-year-old has agreed to take over the club with an unveiling expected to be done within the week.

Konadu’s appointment will be the third after Goran Barjaktarevic was sacked at an early stage of the season.

Maxwell Konadu, however, has been jobless since parting ways with Asante Kotoko in December last after losing Accra Great Olympics.

He is a former Wa All Stars coach and has served as the Black Stars assistant coach. Konadu also led the Black Stars B to place second in the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal
Legon Cities have now dropped into the relegation zone and now sit at the 16th position with 23 points after 22 games.

Legon Cities will be hosted by Ebusua Dwarfs in the matchday 23 games at the Cape Coast Stadium this weekend.

Leaders Medeama SC produced three second-half goals to secure the three points against a stubborn Ebusua Dwarfs side in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 22 clast at Akoon Park Sunday afternoon.

After a difficult opening half, the Mauve and Yellow finally broke the deadlock within three minutes of second-half action through Burkina Faso international Amed Touré who netted his 5th goal in as many games since arriving at the club.

Defender Ibrahim Yaro struck to make it 2-0 in the 56th minute when all thought he was about setting up Touré with a pass.

10 minutes later, striker Prince Opoku Agyemang put the gloss on Medeama’s victory by hitting home the third.

The impressive second-half showing sees Medeama preserve their spot on top of the 18-team Ghana Premier League standings with 39 points from 22 matches. Dwarfs fall into 12th place.

Dreams FC made numerical advantage count as they beat ten-man Hearts of Oak 2-0 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Sunday, 2 May 2021.

The Still Believe Lads punished the visitors minutes after Nuru Sulley collected a second yellow card to take an early shower in opening nine minutes of the second half and then struck again in additional time.

In the opening minutes Ibrahim Issah benefitted from a miscommunication at the back by the Phobians but could not make it count.

Hearts replied minutes later when Dreams goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi produced a powerful fist to stop Fatawu Mohammed’s long-range effort.

After a first quarter, Ali Huzaif found striker Agyenim Mensah with a beautiful pass but the latter’s long-range effort was saved by Ben Mensah, the Hearts goalkeeper.

Before the half-time whistle, a beautiful team effort from the right saw the ball drop on Emmanuel Ocran’s left foot but his strike deflected for a corner. The resulting corner is cleared out of danger.

Six minutes into the second half, Hearts were reduced to ten men when defender Nuru Sulley got sent off for a second yellow card offence.

From the resultant free-kick of that infringement, Dreams FC took the lead then Huzaif bundled home a rebound after Mensah had spilled his powerful header.

Just after the hour mark, Victor Oduro unleashed a thunderbolt but his effort at goal lacked direction.

Hearts closest attempt to snatch the equalizer was in the 68th minute when William Dankyi raided the left and whipped in a cross from the left back captain Fatawu shockingly shot wide from inside the box.

Dreams could have scored the second goal in late on but Sylvester Simba had his shot at goal deflected by Fatawu Mohammed for a throw-in.

In injury time, substitute Simba picked up a loose ball from the close to the corner flag on the right, raced with it and then delivered a low one which beat goalkeeper Mensah at the near post.

Bechem United continued their impressive home record after beaten relegation-threatened Inter Allies FC 2-1 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides locked horns in a match-day 22 encounter of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

Captain of the Hunters, Moro Salifu opened the scoring before striker Hafiz Wontah Konkoni doubled his side’s lead with a few minutes to end the first half.

Inter Allies, knowing the importance of the fixture commenced the game on a high note but could not score despite their numerous goal attempts.

Nafiu Sulemana fired several shots on target but all were met with equally good saves by Bechem United goalkeeper Isaac Asempa.

Bechem took control of the game and on the 27th minutes earned a penalty kick.

Midfielder Moro Sslifu – who has been impressive in the season so far nicely converted to give the home side the lead.

With three minutes to end the first half, striker Hafiz Konkoni netted his team’s second goal on the afternoon.

After recess, Inter Allies pushed more men forward to come into the game again.

In the 68th minute, the Capelli boys reduced the deficit.

Hashmin Musah’s header forced Boubacar Sidiki Doumbia to put the ball in his own net.

Both teams tried out shots but none could enter the net as the home team record another victory.

Inter Allies remain at the foot of the league with 18 points.
