Asante Kotoko SC got back to level pegging with Hearts of Oak at the summit of the Ghana Premier League after beating Inter Allies FC on Monday in a round 29 fixture.

The Fabulous club recorded a 3-2 victory over the relegation threatened side to keep their title hopes intact.

Evans Adomako and Andrews Kwadwo Appau scored their maiden goals in the league for the Kotoko to ensure they claim all three points.

Allies trainer Felix Aboagye made only change to the team that lost 1-0 to Legon Cities FC in the last round at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Youngster Andy Okpe replaced Samuel Armah in the starting lineup with Emmanuel Agyemang Badu also starting against his former club.

Mariano Barreto made three alterations to the Kotoko squad that pipped AshantiGold SC 1-0 in the Ashanti derby last week in Obuasi.

Habib Mohammed returned from suspension to replace Wahab Adams in the starting lineup.

Razak Abalora and Abdul Ganiu Ismail also returned from the Black Stars camp to earn starting places for the Porcupine Warriors.

Striker Adomako was handed his first start in the Red shirt as he took the place of Ibrahim Osman in the team.

Kotoko opened the scoring of the match in the 26th minute after Emmanuel Gyamfi connecting a headed pass from Adomako.

Allies levelled matters in the 39th minute when Alex Aso scored from close range after he was set up by Nafiu Sulemana.

Adomako restored Kotoko’s lead with three minutes to halftime as Gyamfi turned the provider with a low cross from the left to set him up.

Allies levelled proceedings again in the 63rd minute through Okpe but that didn’t last long as the Porcupine Warriors got their noses in front once more in the 71st minute.

Young defender Appau connected a pass from Brazilian playmaker Fabio Gama dos Santos to slot in the match winner.

Kotoko are now on 53 points with only goals difference separating them and the Phobians.

Accra Hearts of Oak deputy coach Hamza Obeng has been ushered by the Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association to pay Gh¢37,500 to Medeama SC for breach of contract.

Two-time FA Cup holders, Medeama SC were demanding damages in excess GH₵ 90,000 for the “unilateral” termination of Obeng’s contract.

But the Status Committee of the Ghana FA has rejected the residual value claim by Medeama, insisting the coach must pay the club a meagre GH₵ 37,500 for breach of contract.

The Tarkwa based club backed their case with legal justification for financial claims citing multiple adjudication cases from FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

In the case filed by Medeama SC, they said the decision by coaches Samuel Boadu and Hamza Obeng are “premature, hasty, arbitrary, unacceptable and above all abuse of office as an employee” and did not find it expedient and prudent to warn or complain to the club before taken the decisions.

Hamza Obeng resigned from his role as assistant coach at the club on March 16 to join his boss at Hearts of Oak.

Eleven Wonders head coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu has looked to backtrack from his controversial post-match comments about FIFA referee Charles Bulu.

Following a 2-1 loss against Karela United on Friday, June 11, 2021, the Techiman-based boss suggested his side were beaten due to the incompetence of referee Bulu.

He further stated that the referee failed woefully on the day because he had not recovered from a recent sickness.

An early first-half brace from Bernard Benjamin Boateng ensured that the home side secured the maximum three points with Ganiu Abass scoring the consolation.

The high points of the game happened when the visitors had two clear goals disallowed.

Veteran Alex Asamoah tapped in from Felix Akolor’s cross on the 37th minute but was ruled out by the assistant referee one for offside.

Then in the second half, Ganiu Abass nearly netted a brace too after his shot outside the box went off the crossbar with the whole circumference of the ball crossing the goal line but again wasn’t given.

 However, television replays show the ball crossed the line.

And those decisions by the referee elicited a bitter reaction from the outspoken gaffer who indicated that, they lost not based on performance but incompetence on the part of the referees.

Those comments unsurprisingly might land him in hot water as it is likely that he would be invited by the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

Asked about the matter on Monday in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Ignatius Osei-Fosu apologised stressing that his criticism came out poorly.

“I am not sure I said referee Bulu was not fit, I said he could not get to the proper positions at the right time, they should check his fitness so if I said he hasn’t recovered from his previous experience then I will say sorry to referee Bulu, ” Ignatius Osei-Fosu told Oyerepa FM.

Eleven Wonders occupy the 14th position on the 18-club league with 33 points, just a point above the relegation zone.
