Asante Kotoko coach Dr. Prosper NartehOgum has expressed content about the impressive performance of goalkeeper Razak Abalora in the slim win over Bibiani Goldstars on Friday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory Goldstars to make it three wins from three in this season’s Ghana Premier League.

Youngster Isaac Oppong snatched the only goal on the day in the 55th minute with a Neymar-Esque curler.

Abalora put up a splendid performance as he made some decent saves in both halves to keep Kotoko in the contest.

And Ogum was full of praise for the goalkeeper after the encounter at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani.

“Its by his grace, the victory is good for our confidence if you look at the intensity of the game they were just kicking and following. They are very strong in the air, the pitch was not conducive for our usual passing and moving game. We were finding it very difficult to receive the balls and pass well but then irrespective of that we did the needful by scoring,” Ogum said.

Abalora was excellent in goal, makseveralr of key saves to deny Goldstars from scoring at the Duns Park on Friday.

Ogum added, “And as for Razak that is why he is part of the team, that is his responsibility. When the last linedefenceense is beaten it is his responsibility to keep the team in the game and that is what he did both in the first half and second half. Kudos to him!.

“I like his confidence, his bravery and I like his judgment and his anticipation. He is great…he is a wonderful goalkeeper.”

Kotoko are still on top of the league following the win.

Asante Kotoko prodigy Isaac Oppong snatched the only goal on the 55th minute to secure a win for the Reds against Gold Stars in Bibiani.

This becomes Kotoko’s third straight win in this campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors have made it three wins out of three as they strengthen their lead on top of the league log

Asante Kotoko defeated Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 on matchday three of Ghana Premier League at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani on Friday.

Despite struggling to defeat Bechem United five days ago, the Porcupine Warriors laboured once again to pick another priceless win at a venue they were making their first appearance.

Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Narteh made four changes in the squad that defeated Bechem United 2-0 last weekend.

Abdul Ganiu Ismail missed the game since he is on international duties with Ghana and his place was given to Andre Appau while Maxwell Agyemang took over from Mubarik Yussif.

Stephen Amankonah was also dropped while Richard Boadu ‘Agadas’ made his debut start for Kotoko in midfield to partner Mudasiru Salifu and Richmond Lamptey while Fabio Gama partnered youngster Isaac Oppong Neymar and Samuel Boateng upfront.

After both side struggled to create clear cut chances, Gold Stars had an opportunity to open the scoring but Kingsford Boafo’s effort was saved by goalkeeper Razak Abalora.

After the break, Kotoko pushed men forward for the opener with Boateng and Oppong causing troubles.

On 55th minute, Kotoko finally found an opening. Oppong capitalised on a lose ball and calmly slotted in the ball beyond the reach of Gold Stars goalkeeper

Deep in additional time, Gold Stars had the best of opportunities to level the scoring. However striker Prince Owusu fluffed the chance to break the hearts of the vociferous home supporters.

Kotoko have now opened up a three point lead following the win as the rest of the matchday games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
