The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lined-up a massive friendly against five-time world champions Brazil next month in a bid to give the Black Stars their best preparation possible for the 2022 World Cup.

The GFA, led by the dynamic Kurt Okraku, is leaving no stones unturned in ensuring that the Black Stars are in the best shape for the tournament in Qatar in November.

The Black Stars will take on the South American giants on 23 September during the FIFA international break.

A deal for the match to take place has been signed by both federations as the two countries aim to get the best preparation for the World Cup to be played in the Asian country.

The GFA has been working overtime to secure high pofile matches for the Black Stars for the upcoming FIFA break which resulted in the decision to play the Brazil.

The approach is to ensure that Ghana played the toughest possible opponents before they travel to Qatar to face their opponent in the group phase of the global tournament.

It is in this direction that the four-time African champions will play the South Americans next month at a venue yet to be decidced.

However, insiders have told Ghana’s leading football news outfit Ghanasoccernet.com that the match is likely to be played in Europe with most of the players of both teams plying their trade with top sides in Europe.

The move is meant to minimize travel time for both side while maximizing of the training time the players will have with their national teams during the international break.

Ghana are likely to organise another friendly during that break to give coach Otto Addo the chance to see about six new players that have switched nationality to play for the Black Stars.

It will also give the former Ghana international winger the chance to also observe the current form of his players who are mostly based in Europe.

The Phobians recorded a convincing win over lower-tier side Kaakyire FC in their second pre-season game at the St. Thomas Aquinas Park in Accra.

Accra Hearts of Oak continued their pre-season exercise for the upcoming season with a 2-0 win over Kaakyire FC on Friday morning.

Midfield dynamo Frederick Ansah Botchway, who has returned to the club, needed few minutes to announce his return after registering his name on the score sheet for the Phobians.

Former Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom opened the score for Hearts of Oak with a brilliant strike before Ansah Botchway sealed their 2-0 win.

Hearts of Oak commenced pre-season for the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup and the Ghana Premier League season earlier this month.

They defeated Revelation FC 2-0 in their first pre-season friendly on Tuesday afternoon.

Hearts of Oak are currently preparing for the 2022/23 season’s campaign with the acquisition of Junior Kaaba, Konadu Yiadom, William Bumekpor, Zakaria Yakubu and Eric Ofori Antwi.

Hearts of Oak will compete in the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup scheduled to commence in September.

Asante Kotoko continued their pre-season with an impressive 4-0 victory over second division outfit Ghana Army Academy on Friday morning.

Interim trainer Abdulai Gazeli handed starting berths to new goalkeeper Frederick Asare and Augustine Agyapong, Nicholas Osei Bonsu, Mubarik Yusif and Kwadwo Appau in defence.

Emmanuel Sarkodie, Enoch Morrison, Dickson Afoakwa, Isaac Oppong, Shadrach Addo, and Steven Mukwala all started.

Kotoko showed their intentions clear early in the game as they opened the scoring in the 4th minute through Shadrach Addo, who is on trial.

Addo scored a great goal after a fantastic build-up from the midfield.

Isaac Oppong, who had a wonderful start to last season, increased Kotoko’s tally to 2 with a sublime finish in the 26th minute.

With two minutes to end the first half, Dickson Afoakwa netted Kotoko’s third goal with a towering header.

Kotoko paraded a new set of players for the second stanza of the game.

Cameroonian shot-stopper MoisePouaty started in posts with Samuel Appiah, Christopher Nettey, Abdul Ganiyu, and Mohammed Sharif in defence.

The rest were Richard Boadu, Serge Eric Zeze, Dickson Afoakwa, Ernest Osei Bonsu, and Sarfo Taylor.

Four minutes into the half, Sarfo Taylor netted another goal for the Porcupine Warriors to complete the demolishing exercise.

No goal was produced again in the entertaining encounter.

Kotoko on Monday defeated Panthers FC 4-2 in their first pre-season friendly.

Berekum Chelsea defeated Medeama SC 2-0 in the second game of the GHALCA G6 tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.

An early strike from Shaibu Haruna and a header from Mensah Afriyie in the second half ensured the Bibires claimed the maximum points of the match.

Chelsea proved too strong for the Yellow and Mauves as they dominated the game from start to finish.

Haruna opened the scoring of the match with a beautiful curler inside the box to put Chelsea ahead in the 6th minute. Medeama goalkeeper Appiah Kubi was hapless.

Medeama came close twice in the first half but efforts from Joshua Agyemang and Zakaria Mumuni couldn’t beat goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekyere as he made two decent saves in the process.

Afriyie’s low carpet drive was denied by the framework in the 50th minute preventing Chelsea a second goal.

Chelsea increased their advantage in the 70th minute from a Afriyie’s header to make it 2-0.

The pre-season tournament conti on Sunday when Great Olympics face off with Karela United with Hearts of Oak up against Medeama in a late fixture.
