Ghanaian defender Godfred Agyemang Yeboah joins Al Jolan Club

Former Karela United centre-back, Godfred Agyemang Yeboah, has completed a move to Iraqi outfit Al Jolan Club in the ongoing transfer window.

The former Karela United captain has joined the Iraqi First Division side on a season contract with an option to extend after passing the mandatory medical checks and a fruitful negotiations.

Yeboah will be expected to bring his enormous experience to bear at the Al-Fallujah Stadium ahead of the 2022/23 season.


 

Agyemang Yeboah started training with Al Jolan in the middle of August and has been impressive in the pre-season games he has played so far.

He has been without a club since leaving Karela United.

The 24-year-old, in September 2021, terminated his contract with the Pride and Passion lads following the demise of his father.

Yeboah despite starting the 2020/2021 season very well lost his place. As a result, he featured in fourteen matches.

Yeboah, in his five years with the Passioners, played about 67 matches and scored 9 goals.

He joined Karela United from Proud United in the 2016-2017 season.

Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo scores on injury return in Bristol City’s Cup win

Ghana international Antoine Selorm Semenyo marked his injury return for Bristol City in their EFL Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers on Wednesday night.

Semenyo rounded off the victory for Bristol as they recorded a 3-1 victory to progress in the cup competition.

The 22-year-old was introduced in the second half to make his first appearance of the season after recovering from an injury which has kept him out for over a month.

Semenyo picked up the injury during his debut for the Black Stars in June when they faced Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Cape Coast.

Bristol got their noses in front in the fixture as early as the 7th minute through debutant and teenager Dylan Kadji.

Wycombe drew level just five minutes into the second half with a goal from Iraqi forward Ali Al-Hamadi but the visitors restored their lead in the 77th minute.

Semenyo was brought on in the 70th minute when he replaced Scottish forward Chris Martin and got his name of the scoresheet in stoppage time having connected a pass from Tommy Conway.

The Ghana new boy has been linked with a move to the Premiership with Everton, Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth among his suitors.

Kwame Baah bids goodbye to Asante Kotoko

Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Kwame Baah has sent a farewell message to Asante Kotoko’s board, management, players, technical team and fans following his departure from the club.

The former Ghana U20 and U23 shot-stopper exited the club following the expiration of his contract two months ago.

In his farewell message, Baah expressed his heartfelt thanks to all stakeholders of the club.

The 24-year-old played a significant role for the Porcupine Warriors in the last season where he managed five games in total in the Ghana Premier League.


In the five matches, Baah kept three clean sheets and conceded just two goals which saw Kotoko clinch the league title for the first time after eight years of droughtiness.


Baah joined Kotoko in July 2019 from Inter Allies FC. He previously played for Heart of Lions.

Asante Kotoko’s duo of Richmond Lamptey and John Tedeku left Ghana on Wednesday en route to Sudan, where they will join the rest of the team for their pre-season tour.

The two players are expected to join the rest of their teammates on Thursday.

The Porcupine Warriors departed Accra on Sunday for the north African country for the second phase of their pre-season.

Lamptey, who joined the team las season, was unable to trek with the contingent on Sunday due to documentation problems.

Tedeku recently joined the reigning champions and was sorting out other important issues before he could join his new teammates.

The duo are expected to arrive in Khartoum in the early hours of Thursday.

Kotoko on Tuesday evening played their first friendly encounter against Al Hilal, losing 2-0. They are expected to play the same side on Friday as they continue to prepare for the 2022/23 season.

They will faceoff with Simba SC before returning to Ghana on September 1 to wrap up preparations for their first CAF Champions League preliminary round game against Kadiogo.

Ghanaian giant, Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of another player as the club continues to strengthen the squad of the team.

In an official club statement today, the Kumasi-based side has confirmed that it has signed attacking midfielder Shadrack Addo.

The talented youngster has been signed from Panthers FC and will join several players that have signed for the club in the offseason.

“It is our pleasure to announce the signing of Attacking midfielder ???????? ????, a young warrior with huge prospects to the Porcupine Family from Panthers FC.


“??????? ???D,” a statement from Asante Kotoko has said.

Currently, Asante Kotoko are in Sudan where the team is embarking on the second phase of pre-season training.
The team lost 2-0 to Al Hilal in a friendly match and will play three more games before returning to Ghana.

Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon ran riot over Hearts of Oak with a thumping 4-0 win.

The Blues locked horns with the Phobians today in a second group game of the ongoing 2022 GHALCA G6 tournament.

Just like Hearts of Oak’s first match, the team fielded a squad made up of reserve players and players selected from the junior team.

With the quality of Hearts of Oak’s team below par, Berekum Chelsea took advantage to whip the team.

The Blues led 1-0 at halftime but returned from recess to score three additional goals to demolish the Phobians.

After today’s defeat, Hearts of Oak have failed to progress to the knockout stage of the GHALCA G6 tournament.

‘We need the money now to prepare’ – GPL clubs go after GFA over StarTimes money

The Ghana Premier League clubs have expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in payment of the Startimes Television Broadcast Right sponsorship money.

The Premier League clubs took home $30,000 each as their share of the StarTimes Television Broadcast Rights for the 1st season in the 5-year deal.

In the TV coverage sponsorship package by Startimes, it is stipulated that in the 2022/23 season, the premier league clubs will share $800,000.

The clubs have written to the Ghana football association as a matter of urgency to work on the disbursement of their money as the 2022/23 approaches with few days to commence the league.

They stressed that the situation of receiving their monies when the season is in session should be avoided this time.

In the first year of the sponsorship package, the clubs got their 1st tranche of the money after barely half of the season.

This time they say, their monies should be paid to them before the season kickstart to adequately prepare for the season.
