Asante Kotoko’s newly-signed goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, has sustained an injury in the club’s pre-season friendly against Al Hilal in Sudan on Friday evening.
Asare started the game for the Porcupine Warriors at the Al Hilal Stadium. The North African side opened the scoring in the 29th minute of the encounter through a free-kick.
Glody Lilepo, who snatched Hilal’s first goal, netted the second for the side with a few minutes to end the first half through a free kick.
In an attempt to save the ball from entering his net, Asare sustained an injury, notifying the technical team to replace him.
The degree of the injury is not known yet.

Coach Seydou Zerbo has named Asante Kotoko lineup for their second preseason friendly against Sudanese giants Al Hilal.
Zerbo has made changes to the starting lineup for their first game honoured on Tuesday evening.
Al Hilal defeated Kotoko 2-0 in the first friendly encounter.
The game kicks off at 5pm local time.

Ghanaian quartet Razak Abalorah, Salifu Mudasiru, Edmund Addo and Patrick Kpozo will play against Manchester United in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.
The four players will be representing Moldovan side Sherrif Tiraspol in the group stage of the competition this season.
Sherrif Tiraspol have been paired against Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Omonia in Group E.
Razak Abalorah reacted on his social media page after the draw.
Mudasiru joined Sherrif Tirasspol on loan from Asante Kotoko in the ongoing transfer window.
He has made four appearances so far since joining the club.
Abalora have been with the club since leaving the Porcupine Warriors midway through the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League campaign. Razak Abalora has made four appearances for the Moldovan giants this season.
Ghana will play Nicaragua in an International friendly on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 to wrap up our European tour in the FIFA International window for September.
This forms part of the team’s preparations towards the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals in November/December. Ghana have already announced two matches against Brazil and Switzerland ahead of the finals in Qatar.
The Black Stars will face former World Champions Brazil on Friday, September 23 – before playing the Blue and Whites at Artes Carrasco in Lorca, Spain 4-days later.
Coach Otto Addo will use the matches to continue his assessment and team building for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals that kicks off on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Aside the two matches in the September International window, the Black Stars will face off with Switzerland in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, November 17, 2022 to wrap things up before our first Group game in Qatar.
Ghana have been paired with Portugal (November 24), South Korea (November 28) and Uruguay (December 2) in Group H in the World Cup.
In order to focus on his job with the Ghana national team in preparation for the 2022 World Cup, Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng has resigned from his position as manager of Aston Villa’s U-23 team.
Prior to the nation’s World Cup qualification play-off against Nigeria, Boateng was temporarily selected as a member of the Black Stars technical team.
After the Black Stars qualified for the World Cup, he was given a permanent position through December 2022.
The former Netherlands player departed the English club’s youth team with less than three months until the start of the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar, in order to concentrate on the Black Stars position.
A statement posted on his official Instagram page confirming his decision read: “Leaving Aston Villa after 3 wonderful seasons was not an easy decision but having the opportunity to coach my country at the World Cup was too good to turn down. I have learned so much and I’m grateful for the time spent at this beautiful, amazing club.
“I want to thank the players, staff and the fans for their wonderful support and I wish the club every success in the future. As for now I will concentrate on my role as the Assistant Coach of Ghana ?? ahead of the World Cup.”
Boateng was recently seen with Crystal Palace duo Jordan Ayew and Jeffery Schlupp after a league game.
He will play a role alongside head coach Otto Addo, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and technical director Chris Hughton when the Black Stars begin preparations for Qatar.

The Champions League final will take place in Istanbul in 2o23, with European football’s premier competition set to come to a later than usual close on June 10, 2023.
And in the draw, Uefa have confirmed the make-up of all eight groups, with a number of mouth-watering ties in store for teams in each group.

Tottenham Hotspur also received a relatively favourable group alongside Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt, with Antonio Conte’s side also paired alongside Sporting Lisbon and Marseille.
Premier League champions Man City were drawn in a group including Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund and FC Copenhagen. Meanwhile, 2021 Champions League winners Chelsea were placed in a grouping that included AC Milan, RB Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb.
