Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway joins Adama City FC in the Ethiopian Premier League

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway has completed a transfer move to Ethiopian Premier League side Adama City FC.

GHANAsoccernet.com understands the 25-year-old joined Adama on permanent basis from FC Samartex for an undisclosed amount.

The newly-promoted Ghana Premier League club announced the signing of Botchway a fortnight having sealed his transfer on the deadline day.

Despite signing for Samartex and without kicking a ball for the club, he has been transferred to the Ethiopian side.

Botchway sealed his move to the East African country on Sunday after putting pen to paper on a one-year contract after passing his medical examination.

The former Liberty Professionals player joined Hearts in January 2020 where he played a total of 60 games in all competitions during his stay.

Botchway played a significant role for the Phobians last season as they won the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Kwame Baah joins Adama City

Ethiopian Premier League club Adama City FC have completed the signing of former Ghana U-23 goalkeeper Kwame Baah.

The 24-year-old shot stopper joins Adama on a free transfer after leaving Asante Kotoko SC following the expiration of his contract.

Baah sealed his switch on Sunday where he signed a one-year contract after passing his medical examination.

He played five matches for the Porcupine Warriors last season having helped them clinch the Ghana Premier League title for the first time in eight years.

Baah signed for Kotoko in July 2019 after joining from Inter Allies FC. He made 24 appearances in total in the Red shirt, conceded 12 goals and kept 12 clean sheets.

Baah was Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper at the U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2019 where he contributed immensely for the Black Meteors to finish 4th.

He previously played for the Ghana U20 national team.

United have now won two of their last eight Premier League games against Arsenal, having drawn three and lost four.

Manchester United earned a thrilling victory as Antony scored on his debut and ended Arsenal’s winning run this season with an intense game at Old Trafford.

The Gunners had won all five of their games so far and United have now won their last four on the spin.

Arsenal were on top for long periods, pegging United back in their own half with Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli a persistent threat.

But United’s £82m signing from Brazil was clinical when his opportunity came, curling his shot around goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale against the run of play.

Arsenal got back on level terms when Jesus lost control of the ball in the box and it fell to Bukayo Saka, who comfortably turned it home before Bruno Fernandes picked out Marcus Rashford with a sublime pass six minutes later and the 24-year-old calmly finished his shot.

Mikel Arteta’s side seemed to still be in control until Rashford got his second of the game – a clinical finish from a speedy counter-attack.

Match Report: Ghana defeat Nigeria to qualify for 2023 CHAN tournament

Ghana home based national team, the Black Galaxies booked their place in next year’s CHAN tournament despite losing to Nigeria on Saturday.

The Black Galaxies succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the Super Eagles in the second leg of the final qualifying round at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Annor Walker’s side sailed through on after winning on post-match penalty shootouts after 2-2 aggregate scoreline having beaten Nigeria 2-0 in the first leg a week ago in Cape Coast.

Walker made two alterations to last week’s starting lineup with David Abagna Sandan and Dominic Nsobila taking the places of Jonah Attuquaye and Evans Osei-Wusu respectively.

The Super Eagles dominated the first half of the match but failed to create scoring opportunities as Ghana’s defence reacted very well to keep the game barren.

Nigeria continued with their dominance in the second half and finally got the breakthrough in the 76th minute through Zulkilfilu Muhammed.

Ghana goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim made a fantastic save to deny Nigeria a second goal moments later.

The Super Eagles got the second goal to level matters on aggregate after Nigeria League top scorer Chijioke Nnamdi Akuneto netted in stoppage time to force the tie into penalty shootouts.

The Black Galaxies secured their first qualification to the CHAN tournament for the first time since 2014 as they won 5-4 in the penalties.

Ghana scored all five of their kicks with Great Olympics’ Amos Acheampong netting the winning goal while Nigeria missed one.

Ghana star Kudus Mohammed climbs off the bench to score first goal of the season in Ajax’s victory

Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus scored his first goal for Ajax this season after failing to secure a last-minute move to Everton.

The Ghana international attempted to force his way out of the Dutch giants this week, but the club stood firm, and he scored a good goal on Saturday as Ajax maintained their perfect start to the season with a comprehensive win against Cambur.

Kudus started Saturday’s game on the bench for the fifth time this season, but when he came on in the second half, the 22-year-old made an immediate impact.

Kudus entered the game in the 61st minute and scored the fourth goal in the 4-0 victory three minutes later.

Kudus had agreed personal terms with Everton and had boycotted training on Wednesday in an attempt to force a departure to the Premier League.

The midfielder, unhappy with his bench role after excelling during pre-season, wanted to leave, but Ajax insisted he stay.

The goal increases his chances of starting Ajax’s next game which is against Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday.
