Jimmy Cobblah takes over King Faisal coaching job

Jimmy Cobblah has been named the new head coach for the Ghana Premier League outfit King Faissl.

The Kumasi-based side on Monday sacked coach Branko Bozovic and his assistant Ivica Cvetanovski following their poor start to the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.

The gaffer was brought in to take charge of the team in the off-season. Unfortunately, he is not living up to expectations in the Ghana Premier League, having lost all three games played so far.

According to footy.ghpush.com/ sources, King Faisal have appointed former Black Satellites trainer Cobblah to steer affairs of the club.

Cobblah previously worked with Ghana Premier League sides Wa All Stars and Inter Allies before taking up a challenge in Togo with Maranatha FC.

Ghana Premier League side King Faisal FC have sacked head coach Branko Bozovic.


The gaffer was brought in to take charge of the team in the off-season.

Unfortunately, he is not living up to expectations in the Ghana Premier League.


In his usual ruthless handling of affairs, Alhaji Grusah has sacked the coach and his assistant, Ivica Cvetanovski.


“The club would like to announce that we have parted ways with our coaches, Branko Bozovic and Ivica Cvetanovski,” an official King Faisal statement said on Monday, October 3, 2022.


The club statement added, “We are grateful for the commitment, professionalism, and passion they displayed during their stay at the club and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.”


Under the two sacked coaches, King Faisal failed to win a single match from the three games played in the Ghana Premier League this season.


King Faisal will now bring in a new coach to prepare the team before the league resumes from suspension.

Hearts of Oak loses 1M cedis sponsorship deal with NLA – [Here’s why]

The National Lottery Authority has ended its partnership deal with Hearts of Oak due to the club’s inability to enter into the top-four last season.

The National Lottery authority last year signed a partnership deal worth 1 million cedis each with both  Asante Kotoko  and Hearts of Oak  to help boost their finances.

Director General of the National Lottery Authority, Sammy Awuku during Kotoko’s visit to the firm after winning the GPL trophy stated that his outfits stand not to sponsor all the clubs they aided financially heading into the new season.

“The NLA going into the next season might not sponsor all the clubs again but Kotoko you have made yourself worthy so we will consider sponsoring you,” Awuku said when GPL champions, Asante Kotoko presented the trophy to NLA as appreciation for their sponsorship.

“For every team, we decide to sponsor going forward if at the end of the season if you are not part of the top three, we won’t consider you again,” he added.

However, according to Angel Sports, a close source from the Phobians hinted that the one year marriage with NLA which will expire next month will not be renewed due to the state own agency decision to sponsor only Asante Kotoko who won the league last season.

The National Lottery Authority still owes Hearts of Oak from the previews contract and the club.

2021/22 Ghana Premier League: GFA to award ex-Kotoko coach Ogum, Franck Etouga, Yaw Annor

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will award the most outstanding player, the best coach and the top scorer of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko won the league title for the 24th historic time, amassing 67 points from 34 games. The Porcupine Warriors’ triumph was largely to credited to Franck Etouga Mbella

The Cameroonian who recently departed Kotoko for Egyptian side Al Masry scored 20 of the team’s 48 league goals. A feat which has gone unnoticed and has earned him the most outstanding player award.

Prosper Narteh Ogum who led the team to achieve the triumph has also been named the Coach of the season.

Erstwhile Ashantigold SC forward Yaw Annor will also be awarded for emerging as the top scorer for the previous season with a total of 22 goals in 30 leagues matches.

The trio will be awarded by Electroland Ghana Limited at a date and venue to announced later.

After helping his team to lift the league title last season, Former Asante Kotoko SC forward Frank Mbella Etouga has been recognized as the Most outstanding player in the 2021/22 league season.

Former Asante Kotoko Head Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum who guided his side to a record 24th league triumph also emerged as the best coach for the last season.

Ashantigold SC forward Yaw Annor will also be awarded for emerging as the top scorer for 2021/22 League season with a total of 22 goals in 30 matches.

Electroland Ghana Limited will soon announce a date for the presentation of awards to the three individuals.

Former Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel has said he was overwhelmed by the state-of-the-art Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, the home venue of Division one side Nations FC.

Boadu who attended the game between Nations FC vs Swedru All Blacks at the Abrakese encouraged other football clubs to emulate. He commended Dr Kwame Kyei for such a great investment in the game.

Prosper Narteh Ogum congratulates newly-appointed Hearts Of Oak assistant coach David Ocloo

Hearts of Oak on Sunday announced the appointment of former Asante Kotoko coach, David Dickson Ocloo as interim head coach ahead of their CAF Confederation campaign.

Coach Prosper Ogum, who led Kotoko to a famous league title win and resigned after an alleged misunderstanding between himself and the board of directors at the Kumasi-based club, has congratulated Dickson Ocloo whom he worked with at Kotoko after his appointment.

In a post on social media, Prosper Ogum wrote: “Congratulations David on your appointment as Hearts of Oak assistant coach. I wish you all the best.”

The former Kotoko coach is currently out of work and it has been alleged that he is one of the coaches that is being considered for the job at Accra Hearts of Oak. Sources close to the coach have ruled out a move to Accra Hearts of Oak but have indicated that anything is possible in football.

Hearts of Oak parted ways with Samuel Boadu after a run of 2 draws and a loss in this season’s Ghana Premier League.

Annor Walker reveals only condition to take up Hearts of Oak’s vacant coaching role

Head of coach of Ghana Premier League side Samartex and Black Galaxies, Yaw Annor Walker has revealed his condition for accepting the role of Hearts of Oak’s coach, following the sacking of head coach Samuel Boadu.

The FA Cup champions are currently without a head coach following the mutual termination of Samuel Boadu’s contract last week Tuesday.

The decision to part ways with the former Medeama SC boss emerged following the club’s poor start to the ongoing 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

Following Boadu’s dismissal, the board and management are in talks with several coaches to takeover the club’s managerial affairs with Annor Walker a leading candidate for the job.

However, Walker, 62, have revealed the pressure the Phobians have mounted on him to accept the job and has registered his readiness to join them should Samartex allow him leave.

“To be honest, I’m very sad because I was in Accra with Hearts of Oak after the season but they couldn’t approach me for the job. They didn’t show interest in me but now that I have signed a deal with Samartex and they want me to come.

“For about two weeks now, I am not free in the hands of Hearts of Oak if am not telling lies. They are giving me pressure that they want to snatch me from Samartex. Let me ask if your husband or wife is taking good care of you and others want to snatch you will you go? It has affected me, talking about the Hearts of Oak job because I was with them in Accra but they couldn’t approach me now that they are tagging and calling me whiles am in Samartex.

“My current club wants a good coach like me [Annor Walker] to help them unless they want to offload me for Hearts but am not sure of it now. That’s what I have to say.

“There is pressure on me because they are calling me but I’ve told them everything but still they don’t understand. Some of the supporters are also calling.

“I am in Algeria now for the CHAN draw. I will know what to do when I touch down in Ghana but I’ve told them to discuss it with Samartex.

“I want to ask, who will let a good coach like me go? Samartex is also a good team, they have a young team. But everything will be disclosed when I touch down in Accra,” Annor Walker told Ghanasportspage.com

Asked whether he will be happy joining the Rainbows if only Samartex agree with Hearts, he said,

“We know Hearts of Oak is a big club and they are going to compete in Africa. We are all hoping to see them progressing in the tournament. Though I am in a good relationship with Samartex now if they want me to go I can come and help Hearts of Oak. I will be ready to help them but it will depend on Samartex.”

Meanwhile the Phobians have appointed former Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo as a stop-gap until a substantive coach is announced.

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim, has been featured in FIFA’s 2023 EA Sports.

Being the only Ghana Premier League player who was captured in FIFA 23, the Black Galaxies goalkeeper is also the 51st highest-rated Ghanaian player in the football simulation video game.

Danlad Ibrahim was rated 68 in total while earning 70 for his reflexes and 69 for his handling of the ball.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper also had 68 for positioning, 67 for dividing, 60 for kicking, and 43 for speed.

FIFA 23 is a football simulation video game published by Electronic Arts that is developed by EA Sports.

A FORMER Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Alhaji Ali Raji, has said he has no faith in Black Stars Coach, Otto Addo, to deliver with the Black Stars at the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

He said he witnessed Ghana’s World Cup playoff against Nigeria in March and realised that the Germany-based Ghana coach lacked what it took to handle the Black Stars.

“After the Nigeria game, I didn’t have any belief in our coach. In fact, I don’t think he will make any impact with the Black Stars at the World Cup,” Alhaji Raji told Graphic Sports in an exclusive telephone interview in Accra.

He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to be measured in their expectations of the Black Stars at the Qatar 2022 World Cup since the team was relatively new and could not perform any magic at the Mundial.

“If you look at the team, you can see that the players are not gelling; they need time to do a lot of work. We have to be patient and minimise our expectations,” he cautioned.

The veteran soccer administrator also questioned the rationale behind the campaign for the return of former Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan, into the Stars fold.

“Asamoah Gyan should forget about the Black Stars; he must not even dream of returning to the team. If others had done the same in the past would he have got the opportunity to play for the team?” he questioned.

He tasked the former Legon Cities and Sunderland striker to discard the idea to rejoin the senior national team as a player.

“If he wants to serve in any technical capacity or play a role as an advisor to the striking department then that is fine, but as a player, he should forget it,” he stated.
