OFFICIAL: Hearts Of Oak appoint Man City-trained Richard Oppong as goalkeeper’s coach

Hearts of Oak have appointed Richard Oppong as the club’s new goalkeeping coach, according to a club statement on Monday morning.

Oppong joins David Ocloo as new additions to the club’s technical team as they work around the clock to name a head coach before the end of the week following Samuel Boadu’s sacking last week.

The 35-year-old had to quit football due to injury and turned attention to coaching.

Oppong, who played for Red Bull Academy and Right to Dream Academy, was on attachment at the Ettihad and Red Bull Salzburg after completing his goalkeeping course.

He helped in the development of current Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi and he is the CEO and co-owner of “Richard Oppong Goal keeping Centre” at Aburi – Kitaase.

Berry Ladies CEO receives Forty Under 40 award

Gifty Oware-Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Women’s Premier League side, Berry Ladies Football Club, has won the sports category of the prestigious FortyUnder40award.

Mrs. Gifty Oware-Mensah swooped the award following her exploits as a doyenne in the football industry, serving as the C.E.O of model club, Berry Ladies.

The award ceremony, which took place at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra, sought to reward outstanding entrepreneurs in their respective fields of endeavor.

The young administrator beat out competition from other nominees to take home a trophy and medal at the ceremony that honored 39 others who have distinguished themselves in various fields.

Gifty Oware-Mensah holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master of Public Administration degree, both from the renowned KNUST; an MSc in Diplomacy and International Politics from Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College; a Masters in Development Policy and International Politics from the University of Birmingham; a Postgraduate Diploma in Management of Democratic Elections from the University of South Africa; a Post Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Texas in Austin; and several more degrees. She is currently pursuing an MPhil in history.

She has accomplished this feat as a young businesswoman who overcame the difficulties of working in a male-dominated environment.

Gifty is also the Vice President of Ghanaian men’s top-flight club, Berekum Chelsea Football Club, and a management member of the Black Maidens.

She is also the vice chairperson of the Super Cup of the Ghana Football Association.

She is the National Service Scheme’s current Deputy Executive Director (General Services).

She has a hub dubbed “The Afia Oware Summit,” which gives young women the chance to be mentored. The astute football luminary is exceptional in her capacity to recognize talent, engage, and develop it into something spectacular.

She is a young, ambitious politician, a mother and a loving wife, while excelling in her sector remarkably.

She led Berry Ladies to be nominated as Best Female team of the year, Most vibrant club on social media and Best Ghana Club CEO during the Ghana Football Awards 2021, along side clubs like Hearts, Kotoko, Olympics, Legon City and Ridge City as the only female clubs.

Ex-Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum lands Black Stars job

Former Asante Kotoko coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has been appointed as a one of the scouts for the Black Stars ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Narteh Ogum is currently clubless after parting ways with Asante Kotoko despite steering the club to annex the 2021/23 Ghana Premier League.

With Ghana set to participate in the 2022 Mundial in Qatar, the former West African Football Academy [WAFA] gaffer will scout for the Black Stars during the global showpiece.

 The black Stars who are making a return to the Mundial after missing out in 2018 in Russia have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea,  and Uruguay.

The technical of the Black Stars will be counting on Narteh Ogum having beaten all odds to lead Kotoko to emerge as champions in his debut season with the Porcupines.

OFFICIAL: Hearts Of Oak appoint former Kotoko assistant trainer Ocloo as their new deputy coach

Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak have appointed former Kotoko assistant trainer as their new assistant coach.

The 38-year-old has been tasked to take temporary charge of the team as head coach ahead of their upcoming campaign at Real Bamako in the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup qualifier.

The club confirmed on Sunday, 2 October 2022: ”His appointment takes immediate effect and forms part of the club’s restructuring exercise of the technical team.

”In the interim, Ocloo will act as the Head Coach and will be assisted by Samuel Nii Noi until a substantive coach is appointed shortly. He is expected to lead the team’s preparations ahead of this weekend’s Confederation Cup first leg against Real Bamako of Mali in Bamako.”

Cloo was an assistant coach for Kotoko last season when they won the league title under the tutelage of Prosper Narteh Ogum.

However, Ocloo left the Porcupine Warriors following the departure of Prodper Ogum due to some misundanding between the gaffer and the Reds’ management.

2022/23 DOL Day 1: Nations FC, Sefwi All Stars secure big wins, Na God FC silence Tema Youth as Heroes hold Asekem [FULL RESULTS]

The 2022/23 Division One League commenced on Friday, September 30, 2022, with Match-day 1 fixtures, producing some exciting moments across the venues.

The first match of the season was played at the Tema Stadium, where hosts Attram De Visser were held in a 1-1 stalemate by A5 Rences FC. Osah Bernardinho Tetteh’s 70th-minute strike secured a point for the home side after the visitors had scored through Noi Jessey early in the game.

On Saturday, Bofoakwa Tano secured a slender 1-0 victory over Baffour Soccer Academy at the Sunyani Coronation Park. Junior Ranius Alipio grabbed the only goal of the encounter in the 79th minute.

At the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale, Steadfast walloped Wa Suntaa 3-0 to open the season on a high note.

Prince Karikari opened the scoring for the home side before Abubakar Abdul Shakum netted a brace.

Emmanuel Tetteh scored early for Golden Kicks FC at the Tema Sports Stadium, but two goals by Paul Kwame and Seedorf Asante handed Liberty Professionals a 2-1 win on the road.

Vision FC picked up their first win of the season by posting a 2-1 win over Mighty Jets at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex. After a goalless first half, Baki Alifoe opened the scoring for Vision in the 55th minute, but three minutes later, Usmanu Gyanyu pulled parity for the visitors. With 15 minutes to go, Festus Darko got the second goal and restored the lead for Vision FC.

The game between Kenpong Soccer Academy and Soccer Intellectuals at Gomoa Fetteh produced no goals.

On Sunday, Nations Football Club defeated All Blacks 3-1 at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. Suraj Seidu opened the scoring for the hosts a few minutes to end the first half. Just after the start of the second half, Anthony Quainoo for the visitors but two goals from Asamoah Boateng sealed the famous victory for Nations FC at home.

Bright Frimpong’s brace secured a 2-1 victory for Elmina Sharks over Nzema Kotoko at the Nduom Park.

Brefo Owusu’s solitary strike in the 72nd minute secured all three points for newcomers Na God FC over hosts Tema Youth.

Sefwi All Stars thrashed Deportivo 3-0 at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani while Mighty Royals defeated Betekum Arsenal 2-1 at the Golden City Park.

Two of the match-day 1 fixtures will be played on Monday afternoon.

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland became the first player to score three successive Premier League home hat-tricks as Manchester United were humiliated in the derby at Etihad Stadium.

Haaland’s rampage this season continued as he made it 17 goals in 10 games since his move from Borussia Dortmund and Phil Foden also scored a treble as City closed the gap on pace-setters Arsenal to one point.

This was a brutal reality check for United after their recent improvement, as the reigning Premier League champions ran riot to illustrate the gulf in class between the teams.

City’s lightning start was rewarded when Foden swept home Bernardo Silva’s cross after eight minutes before Haaland inevitably joined the action with a header from a corner 11 minutes before half-time.

As United subsided, Haaland slid in a third from Kevin de Bruyne’s perfect pass then turned provider to set up a simple finish for Foden before the break.

United’s new signing Antony struck a superb goal from 25 yards to pull one back but it only provoked City to up the tempo again, Haaland thumping home his third from Sergio Gomez’s cross then again showing he can be creator by setting up Foden for City’s sixth.

Haaland’s third put him in the record books following hat-tricks at home to Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

Anthony Martial’s late goal for United was greeted in near silence, as was his added-time penalty, on a day of embarrassment for United and manager Erik ten Hag and one of elation for City and Pep Guardiola.
