As the two most successful clubs in the Ghana Premier League prepare to face off in a Week 19 encounter of the 2022/23 season, Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Slavko Matic, has acknowledged that the upcoming Super Cup match against Asante Kotoko will be challenging.

Despite his team’s current form not being the best, Matic remains optimistic about securing a victory.

“It is a big game. Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak and for me, everything is possible.

“The injured players must recover for the game on Sunday,” coach Slavko Matic said.

The Serbian tactician said this during the post match interview of the game between Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak on Wednesday afternoon.

Coach Kobby Mensah praises Great Olympics players after derby win over Hearts of Oak

After leading his team to a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday, Great Olympics head coach Bismark Kobby Mensah was in a jubilant mood.

In his post-match interview, he attributed the win to his players, praising them for their excellent performance.

“I am happy with this win because it was a big game. When I took over this club, the fitness level of the players was not in the best shape but for them to win this game is massive for us

“Credit to the players. They played very well. It was a derby and they played according to the game plan. Credit to them,” coach Kobby Mensah said after the game.

After their recent loss, Hearts of Oak’s chances of winning the league title have been significantly jeopardized.

The team now needs to focus on the upcoming Super Clash match against Asante Kotoko, which is scheduled for Sunday.

Bechem United coach Kassim Mingle blames his goalkeeper for Kotoko defeat

In the BetPawa Premier League match held on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Bechem United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko, with Enock Morrison’s goal in the 21st minute proving to be the difference.

Coach Kassim Mingle’s team had secured a victory over Great Olympics in their previous outing and was aiming to close the gap on Aduana Stars by securing another win against Kotoko. However, the Hunters dropped from the second to the third position in the league table, as Morrison’s goal helped the reigning champions earn a crucial victory.

The away team’s head coach acknowledged that his players did not begin the game well but held goalkeeper Aziz Haruna Dari accountable for the 1-0 loss.

“I’m disappointed. Initially, we were not playing our normal game when the match started untill we conceded before we started playing our normal game. Is unfortunate we conceded that early goal.

“It was a mistake from the goalkeeper. At where he was, they shouldn’t have scored him at the first pole. It has happened so we will go home and correct our mistakes,” Coach Kassim Mingle stated in an interview with StarTimes.

Match report: Asante Kotoko end winless run with narrow win over Bechem United

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday afternoon.

The win has put the Porcupine Warriors in second place and within touching distance of the top spot, while Bechem United has dropped out of the top four.

Enock Morrison scored the only goal of the game in the 21st minute, finding the back of the net with a powerful strike to Kotoko the lead.

Bechem United tried to mount a comeback, but the Kotoko defence held firm, and the home side held on to secure all three points.
