Kudus Mohammed grabs assist in Ajax draw with Excelsior

During an Eredivisie clash held at the Van Donge & De Roo Stadium, Mohammed Kudus played a pivotal role in Ajax’s 2-2 draw against Excelsior on a Saturday afternoon.

Kudus was named in the starting lineup and remained on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes, joined by Dutch-born Ghanaian striker Brian Brobbey, who also kicked off the match and completed the full game duration.

Ajax surged ahead in the 25th minute as Brian Brobbey’s right-footed shot from the center of the box nestled into the bottom right corner of the net. The goal was facilitated by an assist from Carlos Forbs.

Although Brian Brobbey’s 41st-minute goal was scored, it was invalidated due to an offside ruling.

Just before the first half’s conclusion, Excelsior restored parity as Siebe Horemans slotted a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net from the center of the box. The goal was confirmed following a VAR review.

Nikolas Agrafiotis extended Excelsior’s lead in the 48th minute, with an assist from Lazaros Lamprou.

Ajax managed to secure a draw when Davy Klaassen scored in the 72nd minute, with Mohammed Kudus playing the role of provider for Klaassen’s goal.

In their upcoming league fixture, Ajax is scheduled to face Fortuna Sittard.

Black Meteors striker Emmanuel Yeboah joins Danish side Brondby IF

Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Yeboah has completed his transition to Danish top-tier club Brondby IF.

The 20-year-old has inked a four-year deal with Brondby IF, making the switch from Romanian side CFR Cluj.

Initially designated for the reserve team, Yeboah’s rapid progress led to his debut for CFR Cluj in a Liga I match against Rapid București, where they secured a 1–0 victory on July 16, 2022.

His notable performance earned him a promotion to the first team, and by the end of the same year, he had netted three goals in 16 league games, demonstrating his capabilities under the guidance of manager Dan Petrescu.

In January 2023, Yeboah came close to a transfer to Slavia Prague. However, the deal fell through due to concerns raised about a meniscus issue that emerged during his medical evaluation.

Emmanuel Yeboah was also a part of the Ghana U-23 squad that participated in the U-23 AFCON held in Morocco. Despite his contributions, the team was eliminated during the group stage.

Ajax turn down West Ham United’s bid for Mohammed Kudus

Ajax has rejected an offer from West Ham for attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus, as reported by The Athletic.

West Ham’s proposal failed to meet Ajax’s valuation of Kudus, resulting in its swift dismissal.

The future course of action in this situation remains uncertain. Initially, Ajax had tentatively agreed to transfer the Ghanaian international to Brighton & Hove Albion for approximately €40 million, although that deal did not materialize.

Despite several departures from their squad this summer, Ajax is keen on retaining Kudus, even though the player himself is keen on a move. Chelsea has also expressed interest in the 23-year-old during this transfer window.

Kudus is under contract with Ajax until 2025, but he declined a one-year extension in April. His three-season stint in Amsterdam has seen him score 16 goals in 63 Eredivisie appearances, and he has notched seven goals in 24 outings for the Ghana national team.

While West Ham has bolstered their midfield with the signings of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, they are actively seeking further attacking reinforcements ahead of the September 1 deadline.

The club is reportedly close to securing a deal with Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, with the player expected to arrive in London within the next 24 hours.

The departure of Kudus from the Dutch club before the transfer window closes on September 1 remains a distinct possibility.
