Bibiani Goldstars failed to make their home ground count as they drew against newly-promoted Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League matchday six fixture on Monday.

Lions rallied from a two-goal disadvantage to earn a point from the match at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani, extending their drawing streak to five.

Goldstars head coach Michael Osei rang two changes to his setup that held Bofoakwa to a scoreless stalemate in Sunyani in the last round with Appiah McCarthy regaining a starting place.

Ronald Frimpong was also brought back to the starting eleven when he took the place of Eric Bosomtwi.

Heart of Lions trainer Abdul Fatawu Salifu made two alterations to the squad that drew goalless with Bofoakwa Tano in the last league game.

Kwesi Pong returned to the starting lineup in place of Benson Kofi Yeboah, while Mustapha Yakubu replaced Alhassan Ali for his second start of the campaign.

Alex Aso got the breakthrough in the match on the stroke of half-time with a decent effort to give the Miners the advantage.

Goldstars doubled their lead nine minutes into the second half through midfielder McCarthy with a fine finish, but the deficit was reduced two minutes later, with Yakubu pulling one back for Lions.

The Kpando-based side made the scoreline even when the skipper Ebenezer Abban scored the equalising goal in the 72nd minute.

Aduana FC, Dreams FC and Nsoatreman FC picked up vital home wins in their Matchday six betPawa Premier League games whiles Nations FC scored late to deny Asante Kotoko at the Dr. Kwame Kyei sports complex.

Aduana FC fell to Emmanuel Antwi’s 20th minute strike at Nana Agyeman Badu I Park but fought back to lead at half time.

Forward Isaac Mintah scored two goals to give his side a commanding lead before the break. Mintah equalized in the 37th minute and added the second inside 45 minutes to give Aduana FC a 2-1 lead.

Emmanuel Gyamfi put the nail in the coffin as he connected a lovely pass in the 98th minute to round up an eventful afternoon for the hosts.

At the Konamansah Park in Nsoatre, Nsoatreman FC recorded an impressive 2-0 win over Legon Cities. Maxwell Konadu was up against his former team for the first time since he moved to Nsoatre in the summer.

Abdul Manaf Umar continued his fine form with a 4th minute goal before Mohammed Abdul Rahaman added to the tally inside 69 minutes.

At Dawu – John Antwi and Ishmael Dede scored in either half as Dreams FC overcame Champions Medeama SC at the Theater of Dreams.

John Antwi opened the scoring in the 4th minute for Dreams FC following a strong start to the game. The Still Believe lads were very purposeful as they held on until the break.

Ishmael Dede netted the decisive goal in the 88th minute to give his side a two goal lead before substitute David Boison Frimpong reduced  the deficit for the champions.

Elsewhere at Bechem – Bechem United left it late to beat Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at Fosu Gyeabuor Park.

Two second half goals from Augustine Okrah and Cephas Mantey was enough to take the pressure off coach Bismark Kobby Mensah momentarily.

There was drama at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports complex at Abrankese where Nations FC scored on the death to secure a point against Asante Kotoko in a 2-2 draw.

Finally in Tamale – Bofoakwa Tano maintained their unbeaten streak with a goalless draw against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama stadium.

There was drama at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports complex at Abrankese where Nations FC scored on the death to secure a point against Asante Kotoko in a 2-2 draw.

After a barren first half, Nations FC were off to a flying start to the second half as Amidou Diarra took advantage of a sloppy ball in the Kotoko area to slot home the opener.

Asante Kotoko piled the pressure and equalized through Steven Dese Mukwala the 88th minute. The Ugandan man slotted home from a rebound following Augustine Agyapong’s free kick off the edge of the box.

The Porcupine Warriors extended their lead in the 92nd minute through Kyei Dwamena Michael but Nations FC rallied back for the equalizer with a late penalty.

Amidou Diarra sent Danlad Ibrahim the wrong way to sent the home fans into a frenzy as the game ended 2-2 at Abrankese.

Bechem United will do battle with Berekum Chelsea at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. 

Bechem United suffered a 2-1 home loss to Medeama SC on Matchday after throwing away an early lead to surrender a 15-game unbeaten run.

Bechem United have won one, lost three and drawn one of their first five matches in the league and sit in 18th place with 4 points. 

Berekum Chelsea have also won two games in the league with both wins coming at home against Bibiani Gold Stars and Nations FC. But their away form leaves much to be desired after losing their first two games on the road against Karela United (3-1) and 1-0 against Aduana FC.

Bechem United have won 2 of their last three meetings at home against Berekum Chelsea with one ending in a draw – 2020/21 Bechem United 2-0 Berekum Chelsea, 2021/22 Bechem United 1-1 Berekum Chelsea, 2022/23 Bechem United 2-0 Berekum Chelsea.

Cephas Kofi Mantey, Augustine Okrah, Isaiah Nyarko, Francis Twene, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, Gabriel Yapy Tenlep and Abdul Karim are all available to start for BechemUnited as Berekum Chelsea aim to end their miserable away form with the likes of Edwin Kuffuor Asamoah, Zackaria Fuseini, Yaw Dankwah, Lord Amoah and Collins Ameyaw.

Asante Kotoko will trek to Abrankese as guests of Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday.

The first ever Premier League clash headlines fixtures for Matchday six of betPawa Premier League.

Nations FC have won one, lost two and drawn one – with their only win coming against FC Samartex at home. 

 The new boys are 14th in the Premier league table with four points and are winless in their last two games.

They go into the match against an Asante Kotoko side that seem to have discovered their winning formula under Dr. Prosper Narteh-Ogum.

The Porcupines have won two consecutive games after their lackluster start to the season. The Reds have also drawn two, won two and lost one in their last five matches and sit in 5th place with 8 points after 5 matchdays.

Asante Kotoko have played 7 times against  newly promoted sides on the road since 2021/22 and have won 3 games with 1 defeat and 3 draws coming of  9 goals scored and 6 conceded.

Coach Kasim Mingle Ocansey’s Nations FC have not been overly impressive at home following one win and one draw against FC Samartex and Legon Cities respectively.

Emmanuel Agyemang, Barimah Baah, Razak Simpson, Kwame Boakye, Emmanuel Boahene, Victor Oduro, Prince Acquah and Amidou Diarra are some of the notable names in the side who are likely to start on Sunday.

Kalo Ouattara has shrugged off the early season struggles to score two goals in his last two games to give Asante Kotoko all the spoils. Kalo netted in added time to give Kotoko the points against Accra Lions before his towering header gave them a 1-0 win over Aduana FC in Kumasi.

Dr. Prosper Narteh-Ogum will heavily rely on the likes of Augustine Agyapong, Yussif Nurudeen Mohammed, Sherif Mohammed,  Richmond Lamptey and Enock Morrison for a third successive victory. 

Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Martin Koopman, has revealed that the team’s recent goal-scoring slump is a national problem that needs to be addressed rather than putting it at his doorstep.

He said these things after the Phobians failed to halt their current winless streak, having again played to a scoreless tie in the sixth matchday of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League on Saturday afternoon with FC Samartex.

Hearts have performed appallingly, particularly when it comes to scoring goals. They have gone three games without scoring and have only scored once in their first five games, which came on match day two against Nsoatreman FC thanks to a goal by Kashala Ramos.

The Dutch strategist said in a post-match press conference that no one should place the blame for the team’s most recent goal scoring problem on him, stressing that it is a national problem which is even with the senior national team – the Black Stars.

“I’m not the problem here; it’s a national issue. Even the Black Stars don’t have wingers and strikers to score goals”, he told StarTimes.

“Ghanaian players like holding onto the ball too much, and they need to develop.”

Hearts will travel to the Dun’s Park to play Bibiani Goldstars in the next round of matches on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

The woes of Hearts of Oak persisted as they struggled to secure a win against FC Samartex, resulting in a goalless draw in their 2023/24 Ghana Premier League week six fixture.

The Phobians have now gone three games without a victory, causing concern for fans and management alike.

Coach Martin Koopman’s squad appeared to be at a loss for answers in breaking through the staunch Samartex defense, as they failed to create substantial goal-scoring opportunities.

Their hopes seemed dashed when Samartex’s goalkeeper, Kofi Baah, pulled off a spectacular save to deny Hamza Issah’s goal attempt in the 67th minute.

In a bid to rejuvenate the attack and search for a goal, Hearts of Oak introduced Kashala Ramos and Salifu Ibrahim into the game.

However, Samartex maintained a solid and impenetrable defensive formation, thwarting every offensive move by the Phobians.

The result further compounds Hearts of Oak’s position, as they now languish in the 12th spot on the league table with a mere five points out of a possible 18.

Their struggles at the Accra Sports Stadium have left them with just one win, along with two draws, in the current season.
