Eddie Nketiah scores hat-trick in Arsenal 6-0 win over Charlton Athletic in a friendly

Ghanaian youngster Eddie Nketiah bagged a hat-trick as Arsenal thumped League One outfit Charlton Athletic 6-0 Saturday in a friendly.

The match which played behind closed doors at Emirates Stadium did not saw two goals scored in the first half.

But Nketiah scored his first goal in the second half when he slotted home from close range after Charlton failed to deal with a Dani Ceballos free kick.

The 21-year-old’s second his second goal also from closed range. He put the icing on the cake in the match with a header from a Joe Willock cross.

Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring for the Gunners with a powerful strike from distance before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 2-0 before half-time with a  curler.

Willock scored the last goal of the match when he found the top corner with s great finish from the edge of the box.

Arsenal are preparing for their trip to champions Manchester City on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 when the league resumes.

Vibrant Asante Kotoko supporters group Kum Apem on Saturday donated an amount of GHS 2000 and items worth over GHS 4,500 to a dyed-in-the-wool fan Kwame Arhin who got paralyzed after Asante Kotoko-Asec Mimosa Caf Champions League clash in 1992.

According to reports, Arhin picked a Black magic from the goal posts of Asec and had since been paralyzed until today.

The supporters raised money to go to his aid.

Asante Kotoko supporters wing Kuma apem Group have donated an amount of money and items worth GHS 4,500 to a loyal fan, Kwame Arhin, who got paralyzed during Asante Kotoko and Asec Mimosa Caf Champions League game in 1992.

The vibrant WhatsApp group founded by Prince Osei Agyekum (Hon Prince) decided to extend their usual gesture Mr. Arhin after he called for support in an interview with Kumasi-based Light FM.

The members within a spate of a week were able to raise over GHS 5,000 which they used a portion of it to purchase items requested by Mr. Kwame Arhin.

Among the items donated TODAY were Wheelchair, bags of rice, soaps, cooking oil, boxes of bottled water, milk, powdered milk, hand gloves, sanitizers, tin tomatoes, radio, a cash component of GHS 2000 and a customized Asante Kotoko jersey from Strike Ghana.

The president of the group, Big Joe led ta section of the group to present the items at his residence near Atonsu Agogo, a suburb in Kumasi.

Mr. Kwame Arhin is said to have taken a Black magic (juju) out of the goal posts of Asec Mimosa and had been paralyzed since today.

Daniel Kyere on target in SV Wehen’s 3-2 defeat to Dynamo Dresden

Ghanaian-born German Daniel Kyere was on target in SV Wehen Wiesbaden’s 2-3 home defeat to Dynamo Dresden in German Bundesliga II Saturday.

The 24-year-old netted his sixth goal in the season as his side lost to Dynamo Dresden at the Brita-Arena.

Dynamo Dresden opened the scoring in the game through an own goal on the eight-minute mark.

Daniel Kyere got the equalizer for the home side in the 24th minute as he was put through by team-mate Manuel Schaffler to slot the ball into the net.

Sixty seconds later, Moritz Kuhn made it 2 – 1 to the home team when he reacted the quickest to a loose ball in the penalty box of the away team.

Patrick Schmidt levelled up for the away side to make it 2-2 by connecting a cross on the stroke of half time.

Makienok scored late in the game to secure the vital points for Dynamo Dresden.

If you want to be great, read the Bible – Ex-Bayern Munich star Sammy Kuffour

Former Ghana deflector,  Samuel Osei Kuffour has affirmed his faith in God, insisting that if one wants to be great in life then he should read the Bible.

The 43-year-old indicated that reading the Bible always bring enlightenment.

The former Bayern Munich and AS Roma star said anyone who wants to be great cannot leave out the word of God.

He said that he hopes to read the Bible more often.

“I want to read more of the Bible to enlighten myself. Everything you need in life is in the Bible. If you want to be great, read the Bible,” Kuffour said on JoySports.

He also advised that it is always best to do what your conscience is tells whenever people criticize you.

“If you do good things, people will criticize. If you do bad things, people will kill you. So do what’s best for your conscience,” he added.

Kuffour played for the Black Stars from 1993 to 2006, making 54 appearances and scoring three goals in the process.

Mohammed Polo urges Hearts supporters to use their brains to help Togbe Afede to succeed

Former player of Hearts Of Oak, Mohammed Ahmed Polo has called on the supporters of the club to put a stop to the ‘needless’ radio talks, and help Togbe with ideas that will see the club being successful again.

The Phobians supporters have always blamed the Board Chairman for the club woes. According to them, they have not seen any significant improvements in the team for the past ten years.

Despite changing the playing body as well as coaches, 2000 Caf Champions League winners are yet to lift a league title in the past 10 years.

Polo – who has coached the club before – urged the supporters to assist Togbe Afede XIV.

“The supporters should exercise patient and help Togbe. He [Togbe] is using his money, they [supporters] don’t have money so they should use their brains and bring ideas. Togbe is there with his money to help the team to grow. The Radio talks will not help anybody, ” Polo told Kumasi-based OTEC FM.

He also indicated that the supporters should play their role as supporters of the club by offering constructive and informative criticism of the club since they have a bigger role to play in ensuring unity in the club.

I have passion for Football more than Acting – Kumawood Actor Yaw Dabo

Ghanaian actor, Yaw Dabo eminently known as ‘Adwen Kese’ has implored football stakeholders to consider investing more in developing young talents, noting that he has passion for football more than acting.

The West African nation has been a hub for football talents who have gone on to global stardom but much has not been done in recent times to groom the talents locally.

There has been a growing discussion on whether to revisit the Colt system or employ the academy approach in nurturing talents. Whichever way it is, Kumawood actor Yaw Dabo wants heavy investment into juvenile football in order to meet the standards set.

“It is about time Ghana Football pays more attention and invest heavily in juvenile football. There must be a proper plan to expose and develop juvenile football players in the country,” he told Accra-based Angel 102.9FM.

The actor revealed he has more passion for football than his chosen profession of acting.

“I have passion for football more than acting. I use to have colts football club but due to financial constraints I have put everything on hold” he concluded.

Football and other contact sports such as rugby and boxing are still on suspension due to the outbreak of the novel COVID-19 pandemic has caused a standstill in world activities.

Meet Ghana Premier League midfielder who now drives ‘Pragyia’ to make a living

Football activities have been frozen since the widespread of the COVID-19 pandemic and it has affected clubs worldwide.

Clubs now find it difficult to meet their financial obligations. The payment of monthly salaries of players and club officials have become a problem for many clubs.

The situation forced many clubs including European giants to slash salaries of players because no income were being received from their usual activities.

The situation has not been different in the West African country. Most clubs have not paid players for more than three months.

Nuhu Seidu is a Ghanaian player, who last played for Ghana Premier League side Accra Great Olympics before the top-flight was suspended on March 15, 2020.

The 20-year-old who resides in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region now drives ‘Pragyia’ to make a living; a gesture which has been commended by many.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Opemsuo Radio, Nuhu disclosed that he has had to drive in order to earn money to cater for himself.

“I’m a professional player and because there’s no football I decided to work for a living.

“I don’t feel shy because I know what is good for me. I cannot beg for money and if I’m to do, how much would I get?

” I’ve been seeing some players but it doesn’t bother me. I am happy with it and I know by the time football returns I’ll be ok.”

The good of Ghana have extended the ban on social gatherings until July 31,2020. This is to reduce fresh COVID-19 pandemic cases.

He has also played for Liberty Professionals Berekum Chelsea.

Ashanti Gold coach, Thomas Duah says the team is capable of completing in Africa should they be given the opportunity to represent Ghana in the 2020/21 Inter-clubs competition .

Football activities is still on hold due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ghana Football Association are to submit names of two clubs as reps after taking a decision on the fate of the 2019-20 Ghana Premier League season.

Like other clubs who were performing well in the suspended league, Duah believes given the chance the Miners would perform better than they did last year in the Confederation Cup.

”My team is ready to compete in Africa,technical team and management have discussed this and should the opportunity come,we will go again and make sure we do better than we did the last time,” Coach Thomas Duah.

Ashanti Gold were crashed out of the Caf Confederation Cup last year edition following a 2-0 loss to Morocco’s RS Berkane.

With a slim 3-2 away defeat in the first leg, the North Africans progressed 4-3 on aggregate to the play-off round.

Kotoko goalkeeper Osei Kwame undergoes successful surgery

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Emmanuel Osei Kwame has undergone a successful surgery Wednesday to correct crucite ligament.

The operation was conducted by a team of doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The injury date back to his time with his former side Inter Allies FC.

The shot-stopper expressed his hesrtfelt thanks to the team’s insurance company Hollard, who paid all the bills for the operation.

“I thank Hollard Insurance Company Limited so much for coming to my aid to sponsor the surgery,” Osei Kwame told Kotoko Express App when General Manager, Nana Akwasi Gyambibi visited him at the Accident and Emergency Unit at the KATH on Thursday.

“They have saved my career and I cannot thank them enough.”

“Injuries are part of football, so for as long as we continue to be in this sport, players will always be prone to it. My plea is that the supporters keep on doing business with Hollard Insurance so they can continue to flourish to be able to assist when injuries like this occur.”Osei Kwame also thanked the Management for all the attention it gave him throughout his time in the club.

“I thank the Management and the club. Players are mostly left on their own when they sustain an injury like mine. But the club stood by me through it all, and ensured that I get back to my feet.”

“I feel a new sense of happiness especially now that I am assured of full fitness. And I promise to come back stronger to fight for a place in the team.”
