I will gladly accept any role at Asante Kotoko – Yusif Chibsah

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Yusif Alhassan Chibsah has expressed his readiness to serve the club in a position that will not affect his work as a Fifa Intermediary agent.

Chibsah, who retired from active football in 2017, is an accredited FIFA Intermediary. He has been linked with the International Relations position at Asante Kotoko, according to reports in the local media.

Reports indicate that the Manhyia three-member Committee investigating the affairs of Kotoko recommended him to the current board of Directors.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Chibsah disclosed that he cannot decline to serve Kotoko if called upon by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“I can’t refuse any appointment from Kotoko, i will gladly accept any role especially that which is in line with my career path now- Yusif Alhassan Chibsah on Oyerepa FM.

He is the country rep for Strike – Kits manufacturing company that sponsor Asante Kotoko.

Snippets of information gathered indicate the board of Directors have asked the current management members to reapply for their positions.

Otumfuo bans Kotoko from recruiting new players for at least a year

Asante Kotoko Sole Shareholder, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has banned the club from recruiting any new player for at least for one year.

The directive from the Asantehene was revealed by the Chief of Staff of Manhyia Kofi Badu, during the inaugration of the newly-constituted nine-member Board of Directors Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of the Asantehene in the short ceremony, Kofi Badu indicated that Manhyia thinks the club has enough players to compete and therefore, should be maintained.

Kwame Kyei-led administration have recruited 83 players in the three years they have been in charge This is contained in their official report submitted to the Committee set up by the Life Patron, Otumfour Osei Tutu II to investigate the affairs of the Porcupine Warriors.

The club has subsequently signed over 186 players in the last decade and most of them left without the club getting any benefit from their departure.

‘Nana Yaw Amponsah open to Asante Kotoko job’

Special Assistant to Nana Yaw Amponsah, Jones Asante Mfodwo has confirmed that his boss is open to take a position at Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.

Reports were rife that the football administrator is close to joining the Porcupine Warriors after the newly-constituted board of the Reds was announced.

According to the grapevine information, Nana Yaw was approached by officers of Kotoko to take up the Chief Executive Officer job.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Asante Mfodwo disclosed that talks were already ongoing before the new board members were appointed by Manhyia palace.

“Nana Yaw Amponsah is open to the Asante Kotoko job,what I know is that talks were ongoing before the lockdown for him to join Kotoko even before the new board was constituted but I can’t tell if it’s still on but what I can confirm is that of QPR which if not for the closed boders and issues of the COVID-19, he should have started work with the English side.”

The CEO position is currently held by Ghana Football Association Executive Council member George Amoakoh. However, reports indicate he might lose it as the board are scheduled for their maiden meeting Tuesday.

Mfodwo also disclosed that Nana Yaw Amponsah has contacted by Queens Park Rangers for management position.

He contested in the 2019 Ghana Football Association presidential election but lost to Kurt Okraku.

Nana Yaw Amponsah is the Bankroller of Division One League side Phar Rangers.

We’ll keep fighting for the title till end of the league – LASK’s Samuel Tetteh

Ghana international, Samuel Tetteh insists LASK Linz will keep fighting for the Austria Bundesliga league title despite the points gab between them and league leaders – Salzburg.

LASK currently occupy the 4th position with 22 points, 8 less than leaders Salzburg, who are on 30 points after 24 rounds of matches.

Linz were leading the table before the break due to the novel COVID-19 disease. But have been deducted 6 points for holding team training sessions in violation of pandemic restriction prior to the resumption of the league on June 2.

A few of the European countries and others have resumed football activities including the Austrian top-flight league and LASK Linz have secured a draw and one defeat.

“We are just taking every game step by step, game after game. Looking at our position on the league log now, we’re not favourites, but anything can happen in football so we just have to keep fighting,” Tetteh told footy.ghpush.com/.

The former WAFA forward was on the scoresheet over the weekend for Linz in a 3-3 stalemate against Wolfsberger AC.

Tetteh, who came off the bench to rescue a point for his side says he feels happy but would have been happier if his late goal had fetched Linz all three points.

“I feel happy, we could have won the game. I would have been happier if it was the match winner, but I would all the same happy to help the team snatch a point.”

The goal is Tetteh’s sixth goal of the season in 21 appearances.

They welcome Austria Wien in their next game.

Good news to Soccer loving fans as some European country resumed after two months break due to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

As usual some Ghanaian footballers were on target for their respective clubs around the globe.

GERMANY
In the Bundesliga, teenager Kelvin Ofori replaced Velon Berisha in the 66th minute as relegation-threatened Fortuna Dusseldorf were held 2-2 at home by TSG Hoffenheim. Kasim Adams, Bernard Tekpetey and Nana Ampomah all failed to make the Dusseldorf match-day squad.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga 2, Daniel Kyereh scored in the 24th minute and played the full game for SV Wehen Wiesbaden as they lost 2-3 to Dynamo Dresden at the Brita Arena. Former Right to Dream Academy graduate, Godsway Donyoh, replaced Marco Terrazino in the 71st minute for Dresden.

England-born Ghanaian youngster Jordi Osei-Tutu, who is on loan from Arsenal, was substituted on the stroke of full time as his VfL Bochum side defeated St. Pauli by 2-0.

Experienced centre-back Christopher Avevor was introduced by St. Pauli in the 77th minute.


In the Bundesliga 3, Danish-born Ghanaian defender Nikolas Nartey was replaced compatriot Aaron Opoku as Hansa Rostock were pipped 1-0 at home by SV Waldhof Mannheim 07.

Ghanaian striker Samuel Tetteh came off the bench to rescue LASK Linz from defeat in the Austrian Bundesliga on Sunday evening.

LASK Linz held Wolfsberger AC in a 3-3 stalemate at the Lavanttal Arena.

The former WAFA striker ended the match in a 3-3 draw to aid his side picking a point with his fine strike on the 92nd minute of the game.

He came in the 61st minute of the game.

Tetteh has scored six goals for LASK Linz in 24 matches in all competitions this season.

Ghanaian forward Winful Cobbinah scored another goal for KF Tirana in their 5 – 0 trouncing of FC Luftetari on Sunday.

The Ghana international scored for the seventh time this season for the Albanian league leaders in the Kategoria Superiore and for the second game running after the COVID-19 pandemic break.

EPL side Wolves close to signing Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side haveexpressed interest in signing Ghanaian midfielder from Israeli top-flight side Hapoel Tel Aviv.

 English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, have tendered in a request to sign Ghanaian international Emmanuel Boateng in the upcoming summer transfer.

Boateng, 23, has been very impressive at Hapoel Tel Aviv since joining them two seasons from Ghana Premier League side Aduana Stars.

At the moment, he has featured in 20 matches with one goal to his credit.

Boateng is not qualified for work permit in the United Kingdom because he has no regular appearances for the senior national team but the report indicates that Wolves will loan him to an European side if a deal is reached.

The report further stated clubs from Belgium and Denmark are also monitoring the central midfielder closing for a possible transfer.

The player is currently valued at 300 hundred thousand EUR according to Transfermarkt.com.

He’s most likely to be handed his debut Black Stars call-up by coach CK Akonnor considering his explosive display in the 2019/2020 forHapoel Tel Aviv.

Boateng’s contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv expires in June 2020 and Wolves would want to take the advantage to land the budding midfielder.

Hapoel Tel Aviv now occupy fifth position in the Israeli League with 45 points after playing 29 matches.

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Stephen Oduro has revealed that controversial man of God Bishop Daniel Obinim was in the same house with him during their childhood days and was a good player.

Oduro, who now resides in the United States of America disclosed that he is shocked the man of God quit football for pastoral duties.

“I was born at Akwatia Line, the same house as Bishop Daniel Obinim who is a man of God today. He was our next-door neighbour and other guys but he (Obinim) was really a good footballer but I don’t know why he quit football but he was so good at playing,” he made this revelation in an interview with Kumasi Nyame.

“Obinim was a better player than I was so anytime we play I wanted to be part of his team else I won’t play because if I go the opposite side they will score us.”

Osei Kwame discharged after surgery

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Emmanuel Osei Kwame, who underwent a successful surgery has been discharged Sunday morning.

The shot-stopper had a successful operation at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Wednesday to correct his anterior cruciate ligament.

Osei Kwame has now been discharged and will continue his rehabilitation under the care of Dr. Konadu Yeboah, according to club report.

Asante Kotoko captain, Felix Annan has paid a visit to goalkeeper Emmanuel Osei Kwame who underwent a successful surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Friday.

Osei Kwame needed the surgery to correct his anterior cruciate ligament.

Annan tells Opensuo Radio that he had to visit his teammate to wish him well.

” I know how it feels to go through surgery because I’ve been there before. I needed to be there to wish him well.

“As a captain of the team, I thought it wise to be here to give him word of encouragement as he goes through this phase of his career ” he concluded.

The former International Allies goalkeeper joined Asante Kotoko in 2018.

Francis Narh scores as Slavia Mozyr suffer home defeat

Former Ghana U-20 forward Francis Narh got the consolation goal for his side Slavia Mozyr in their 3-1 home defeat to Neman Grodno in the Belarusian top flight Saturday.

Goran Maruzic scored the game’s firstgoal for Grodno in the 19th minute, but levelled by Narh in the 31st minute of the game to end the half 1-1.

After recess, Grodno looked more purposeful and got into the lead through another a superb strike from Maruzic in the 75th minute.

Maruzic completed his hat-trick with four minutes left in regulation time to give his team a cool 3-1 win.

The Ghanaian international has so far netted four goals in 11 matches for Mozyr so far this campaign.
