Bechem United seal win over Great Olympics

Bechem United continued with their resurgence in the Ghana Premier League after overcoming Great Olympics at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hunters claimed a 2-1 win in the matchday eight encounter to stretch their unbeaten streak to four matches (two wins and two draws).

Bismark Kobi-Mensah made only one change to the Bechem starting lineup that faced Asante Kotoko SC in the last round in Kumasi over the weekend.

Isaiah Nyarko came in for Clinton Duodu while Dari Aziz Haruna maintained his slot in the goalposts for the match. Teenager Adams Sanut earned a fourth straight start.

On the other hand, Olympics head coach Annor Walker made no changes to the squad that pipped Nations FC at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday, maintaining the same eleven.

Bechem’s cult hero Augustine Okrah got the breakthrough for the side in the 42nd minute as he put them ahead in the match after connecting a pass from Abdul Karim.

Olympics drew level to make the match even in the 74th minute through versatile defender Samuel Abbey Ashie Quaye.

The Hunters retook the lead in the 81st minute when substitute Emmanuel Owusu found the back of the net.

Bechem jumps from the bottom half of the league standings and moves to the 6th position after Wednesday’s triumph.

Aduana end Bofoakwa Tano’s unbeaten run

Aduana FC made an emphatic statement as they moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League with a scintillating victory over newly promoted Bofoakwa Tano in a regional derby on Wednesday.

The first half of the contest brimmed with action but failed to produce any goals, setting the stage for an explosive second half that delivered a six-goal thriller.

Isaac Mintah ignited the fireworks by breaking the deadlock, and Emmanuel Obuobi added a second for Aduana FC. The duo continued to shine, each netting a second goal to complete their respective braces.

Bofoakwa Tano also contributed to the goal bonanza, with Saaka Dauda notching a brace of his own.

This dramatic encounter saw three brace performances, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

The win propels Aduana FC to the summit of the league table, although their reign at the top may be short-lived, with Nsoatreman, currently in second place, set to face Asante Kotoko at home on Thursday.

The defeat marked the first setback for Bofoakwa Tano, and they will need to regroup and prepare for their next match with renewed determination as they seek to rebound from this defeat.

Hearts Of Oak defeat Medeama in a four-goal thriller

After five consecutive matches, Hearts of Oak ended their winless streak in the Ghana Premier League with an impressive win over defending champions Medeama SC.

The Phobians who had drawn their last three matches after a defeat to Bofoakwa Tano at the Coronation Park finally found their winning edge by thumping Medeama SC 3-1 at the Accra Sports stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Having lost woefully to the Yellow and Mauves at the same venue the last time they faced, Martin Koopman’s men began ruthlessly creating goalscoring opportunities which eventually yielded the desired results.

Hamza Issah stole the show with a remarkable brace. He received a long pass in the 17th minute dummied the last defender and released a ferocious strike beyond the goalkeeper to give his team the lead after Godknows Djakpasu had cancelled Hearts of Oak’s first goal, an own goal resulting from Salifu Ibrahim’s corner kick in the sixth minute.

Issah got his second of the day and his team’s third when he found himself at the end of a counterattack in the 34th minute sealing a well-deserved win which is expected to ease the pressure on both the playing body and the technical team having endured a torrid time so far.

The win has moved Hearts of Oak to the 13th position with nine points and they will be hoping to continue when they pay a visit to Karela United in their next game.

Nations FC put four past RTU

Mingle’s lads showed they meant business by netting the opening goal on 15 minutes through Asamoah Boateng Afriyie. Afriyie scored his second to double the advantage in the 35th minute.

After recess, Sarkodie netted Nation’s third on 67 minutes to put the game beyond the visitors. The pride of the Pride of the North suffered a battering as Agyemang added the fourth on 84 minutes to seal victory for the premier league debutants.

The win moves them out of the bottom of the league standings to 14th on 8 points while RTU drop to 12th position on 10 points.
