About 75% of Kotoko players receive more than GH₵2k a month – Emmanuel Gyamfi reveals

0

In what seems to be a direct response to Alhaji Grusah’s claims, Asante Kotoko vice-captain Emmanuel Gyamfi has revealed that majority of his teammates receive GH₵,2000 and above as monthly salary.

Popular Nhyira FM’s journalist, Bismark Owusu Bempah in June this year revealed the monthly income of almost all the players of Asante Kotoko.

Football enthusiasts met the news with great joy as they believed the players were somehow paid well compared to some time past.

But on the contrary to the report, controversial King Faisal bankroller, Alhaji Karim Grusah, in an interview with Kumasi-based Ashh FM disclosed his disbelief that Asante Kotoko players are earning such an amount each month.

“It is never true players in Asante Kotoko are been paid GH₵2,000 or more. I know a lot of Kotoko players who are paid GH₵600.”

However, Gyamfi has disagreed with the astute football administrator, revealing that about 75 per cent of Kotoko players receive 2000 Ghana Cedis and above as monthly remunerations.

“If I use myself as an example it’s up to GH₵2,000 and some are even more than that, even that of my own”, Gyamfi confirmed to ghanasportspage.com.

“Most of the players, about 75% receive more than GH₵2k so we have about just 10% whose own is either lower than that GH₵2k but at least even them it’s okay to them, but if he (Alhaji Grusah) says nobody receives up to GH₵2k then for that I don’t agree with him, because me talking to you now I’m receiving more than that,” he clarified.
