Newly-signed AshantiGold winger, Yaw Arnol has rendered an unqualified apology to Asante Kotoko trainer Maxwell Konadu after the he ditched the Porcupines to join the Miners.

The 2016 MTN FA CUP best player penned a three-year deal with the Obuasi-based club Wednesday afternoon understanding a successful medical at the Dr. Asafo Adjei Hospital in Kumasi.

The former Black Starlets Wideman was identified as a player capable of bolstering the Porcupines right-wing options with Maxwell Konadu an admirer of the winger. He trained with the Reds but no deal was reached before he returned to join Bechem United ahead of the truncated league season.

Revealing what led to him choose the Obuasi-based club over Kotoko, Arnol said the transfer embargo placed on the Porcupines by the Asantehene left him with no option.

“I want to apologize sincerely to coach Maxwell Konadu for opting to sign for Ashantigold, it wasn’t my fault to do this. He needed me badly at Kotoko but I’m sorry for disappointing him,” he said ain interview with Kumasi FM.

“Though the deal couldn’t go through, I’m confident of succeeding at Ashantigold and I’m hopeful I will return to Asante Kotoko.”

The 22-year-old moved to Spain to join second-tier side CF Fuenlabrada in 2017 after an impressive performance in the 2015/2016 football season.

Founder and bankroller of King Faisal, Alhaji Karim Grusah has decided to shun media engagements following the appointment of George Amoako as Executive Chairman of the club.

The Kumasi-based Ghana Premier League side announced on Wednesday that, it has secured the services of former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer George Amoako to lead the club.

He will be working with Alhaji Karmal Mohammed as his Executive vice-chairman and Sadat Anwar as the club’s CEO. Nana Amankwaa Kwakye will perform a Sporting Director role.

The outspoken football administrator, who is noted for expressing his candid opinions on football issues has decided to boycott media engagements and leave everything in the hands of George Amoako.

“It’s true. I’m done with George Amoako. Now I will not talk to any media house again, George is in charge of everything,” he said in an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM.

“I have discussed with him the management structure of King Faisal. I’m now a founder and will remain so. George will work with Alhaji Karmal Mohammad as Executive vice-chairman and Sadat Anwar as CEO.

He continued: “I’m no more President and I have handed the running of the club in the hands of George. I support him and we pray to God to help him succeed.

He also indicated that he believes in the capabilities of the Ghana Football Association Executive Council member to deliver and make King Faisal FC great again.

“I have worked with George before and the current situation will not be appropriate to give someone terms of reference. Our worst position was fourth during his last spell and I know with my support he will deliver. We even went to Africa during those periods. I am with him and I pray he achieves something with his knowledge in the game.”

George Amoako worked with the Isha Allah Boys in 2003 during the era of Herbert Mensah.

Asante Kotoko loanee goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad says he will consider joining rival club Hearts of Oak if he does not get the opportunity to rejoin the club.

The former Ghana Under-17 shot-stopper was loaned to Berekum Chelsea prior to the commencement of the cancelled 2019-20 Ghana Premier League.

Danlad was fantastic in the post for the Bibiries in the league, having kept clean sheets against his parent club, Hesrts Of Oak and Ashanti Gold.

He told Kumasi-based Metro FM that he will consider Kotoko’s rivals should the Porcupine Warriors decide to release him.

“There is rivalry between Kotoko and Hearts so it will be difficult for Hearts of oak to approach me but I think when am no more playing for Kotoko and my service is not needed then I will opt for Hearts if only they will need my services” Danlad is reported to have told Metro FM in Kumasi.

He was loaned to the Belgium-based club because he was surplus to requirement but could be recalled by Maxwell Konadu after goalkeeper Emmanuel Osei Kwame underwent a successful surgery recently.

The late Soulama Abdoulaye and Ernest Sowah are recent Kotoko shotstoppers who crossed the divide immediately after leaving Kumasi.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) will spend GH3, 000,000 on a module to financially support 1000 athletes for the next six months.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Justin Kodua, each athlete would receive a monthly stimulus package of GH500 for the six months.

Mr Kodua, who was speaking at the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing in Accra last Wednesday, noted that the package would support abled and disabled athletes who have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The YEA has been reviewing our module which is to facilitate jobs for the youth of this country in this COVID-19 season. One avenue that has been hit hard is the sports fraternity.

“As an agency mandated to provide job opportunities for the youth, we decided to support these athletes, who are not getting anything in this period,” he explained.

For his part, Board Chairman of the YEA, Sammi Awuku, expressed gratitude for his outfit’s decision to commit such amount to support sportsmen and women in the country at a time when their source of livelihoods have been deeply affected.

Mr Awuku noted that they will be ready to review entire contract at the end of the duration to see if they could extend it.

“I’m happy for the decision to support sportsman and women. For us to offer GH500 per person for 1000 athletes for the next six months is very laudable. We hope it touches lives in these difficult times,” he said.

The Ghana Football Association’s Judicial and other key Committees will begin meetings online as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With all competitions indefinitely suspended and the GFA Secretariat still closed to the general public, some Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees have been unable to hold regular meetings.

The Association has however agreed to allow the key Committees to hold online meetings on various pertinent issues.

In this regard, Clubs, Players, Officials, Intermediaries, licensed Match Agents are duly notified that applications can be made to the Player Status Committee and all Judicial Bodies (Disciplinary Committee, Ethics Committee and Appeals Committee) in accordance with the GFA Statutes and Regulations.

Clubs, Players Officials, Intermediaries, License Match Agents are to note that their right to a hearing before the judicial bodies and the Player Status Committee of the GFA are expressed by filing of a Statement of Case, a Statement of Defence, all written applications and any evidence given before the said bodies and committees.

Accordingly, representations made through Statements shall be deemed final and conclusive of the factual and legal basis of their cases.

Payment of appropriate filling fees must be made through the GFA’s official MTN Mobile Money Number – 0557927057 and all Applications be made to [email protected] quoting the Ref Number of the matter/case.

Should a Committee decide that parties require personal hearing, the Committee’s sitting will be held through a video conferencing platform (Zoom etc.)

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council has moved its upcoming meeting to Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

The meeting will be done through video conferencing.

The body was supposed to meet on Thursday, July 9, 2020, to take decisions on Congress and plans for a new season.

Matters to be discussed include date and agenda for Congress, date for player registration and modalities leading to the start of the 2020/21 season.

Last week, the Council took a decision to cancel the 2019/20 football season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

George Amoako, former CEO of Asante Kotoko is now the Executive chairman of Kingfaisal after successful discussions between Alhaji Grusah and George Amoako.

The Ghana Football Association Executive Council member was dismissed by the Porcupine Warriors last month following the appointment of a new board.

Bankroller of King Faisal revealed holding talks with Amoako last week and has today confirmed his appointment.

The 2016 MTN FA CUP best player completed a three-year deal with the Obuasi-based club Wednesday afternoon understanding a successful medicals at the Dr. Asafo Adjei Hospital in Kumasi.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM after penning the deal, Yaw Arnol disclosed that, he was also on the radar of Aduana Stars.

‘Both Aduana and Kotoko showed interest but with Kotoko,Bechem United was waiting for further discussions until we heard they can’t purchase players per Otumfuo’s directives so had no choice but to join AshantiGold,” he told Oyerepa FM.

Arnol rejoined Bechem from Spanish second-tier side CF Fuenlabrada after a two-year spell in 2019.

The 22-year-old joined the Spanish side in 2017 after an outstanding performance in the 2015/2016 campaign.

Arnol is expected to play an essential role for the Miners in the Ghana Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup next season.

The former Ghana U17 player has been in the books of the Porcupine Warriors for sometime now but has ended up in Obuasi where he will plying his trade for the next three years.
