The young man with me here will be 10 years in December. He is the lad I hosted on Angel Floodlight Sports Show last Friday.

He wants to be a Sports Journalist in future. Someone from Assin Fosu sent a video of him presenting Sports on Splash FM. I was amazed at his brilliance so I decided to invite him over for a show.

Those of you who watched the show last Friday will attest, we all got mesmerised.

This morning, we set off to his hometown of Kwamoabeng, small community in the Central Region.

At the point in the journey we had abandon our car, wait for a motorbike to continue the journey because road is completely unmotorable.

This took over 40 minutes.

From Assin Sesekor to Bankyease, mobile network is cut off.

We finally reached his village of less than 50 people. The entire community had heard about his exploits on TV and has come to meet us.

Unfortunately, his father couldn’t watch because his TV only show pictures but no sound. The program was tooo late for him to walk to the next town to watch.

This is Dominic’s routine since he was six. He walks several miles from Kwamoabeng to the next village just to watch DSTV matches. He Carrie’s a book that contains tactics, names of stadia, coaches, footballers etc.

When the matches are played in the night, Dominic has to sleep at the DSTV Centre because it will be too late to walk the thickness of the night back to Kwamoabeng.

He is a brilliant student and best in his school, which is only up to Primary six. There is no JHS around. Dominic is in class six and was contemplating how he was going to do the daily walk miles to Seseko for his JHS Education.

When I hosted him last Friday, I was stunned at his depth, for a boy his age.

After making the trip here, I have been more subdued how a boy in a village without internet network be this determined.

Dominic’s village is on the brink range of the Kakum Forest. He is the 9th of 13 children, many of whom are hunters. We met two of his brothers, 12 years and 15, all learning as hunters.

Dominic was named after former Minister under President Kuffuor, Professor Dominic Forbih, who was MP of Dominic’s constituency when Dominic was born.

His parents do not share any relation with the former MP, but just decided to name their son after him.

For those who watched and listened, Dominic’s sporting knowledge is mind-blowing. Despite all the obstacles, he looks so determined.

Now why are we here in his village?

The Chief Executive Officer of Angel Broadcasting, Samuel Bronzy Teflon, sent us to meet Dominic’s parents.

The message is heartwarming. President and Founder or Angel Group, Dr Kwaku Oteng was impressed by Dominic’s intellect and has decided to offer him a full scholarship to pursue higher education to a level that he can.

Dr Oteng also wants Dominic moved to Accra as soon as possible. Whiles at it, he will also be under studying the Sports team at Angel Broadcasting.

I discussed with Dominic, he was more than happy. We therefore came here this morning to discuss that with his parents.

They have accepted, and the entire community met at the village square under the cocoa farm (pictures below).

For where this little boy lives, and he was able to break obstacles to even honour the invitation to Accra, all of reading this must be grateful to God.

I wish Dominic all the best in his educational journey and dream to become a top Sports journalist.

The stranded Ghanaian footballers who arrived in the country Friday have commenced a mandatory 14 days quarantine at Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.

The 18 Ghanaian players issued a passionate appeal through a video to the Government of Ghana to evacuate them from Addis Ababa, a few weeks ago. Through the intervention of the Ghana Football Association they have arrived in Ghana safely through Togo.

They were met in Togo by the Togolese Football Federation and they accompanied them to Ghana’s border at Aflao, where they were met by some Ghana FA officials and Police officers in the Black Stars team bus.

“The clubs gave us two months salary and told us to travel to Addis Ababa because the borders were about to be opened. Unfortunately it didn’t happen. We had to pay our rents and other utilities by ourselves, and soon everything on us got finished. We visited the Ghana Embassy, but nothing came out of it. That forced us to do that videos which went viral on social media,” Kwaku Andoh, who is among the 18 players told Kumasi-based Hello FM from Prampram.

“We didn’t receive any financial assistance from Ghana government. They told us to make a transit at Togo at our own cost. We already had a return ticket. Those who were unable to afford it are still in Ethiopia.

“However, we are grateful to one Ghana Football Association worker – Mr. Alex Asante, who always called to check up on us. He really played a pivotal role in the whole process.

He continued: “As I stated earlier, we didn’t get any financial assistance from government. We were met by the Togolese Football Association, who later led us to Aflao border. We were met by some Ghana FA officials and Police officers in the Black Stars bus. Currently we are at Prampram.

“They are taking all the 18 players through the COVID-19 test. No one showed any symptoms on our way from Ethiopia, but we have been informed that we will go through a mandatory two-week quarantine.”

United Kingdom based kit manufacturers IGimel have submitted two proposals to Ghana Premier League outfit King Faisal in a bid to sign a deal with them.

iGimel recently signed a three-year kit sponsorship deal with Obuasi-based Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold and will want to add the Kumasi-based club to their growing roster.

The UK based kit manufacturers per information reaching Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM submitted two proposals to King Faisal.

According to the report, iGimel is ready to kit the Green and Whites while expecting the club to sell a sizable number of replica jerseys which King Faisal will earn a percentage of the monies that will be amassed from the sales.

The second proposal will give iGimel the exclusive rights to transfer players from King Faisal abroad at a win-win situation with both sides getting percentages from any transfer completed.

Newly-appointed Executive Chairman of the club, George Amoako held a maiden meeting with the team’s management team Thursday.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is pleased to announce that the 2020/21 League season will commence in the second week of October 2020, subject to approval from the Government of Ghana.

The Executive Council of the GFA took the decision on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, after taking into consideration a number of factors in relation to the game and the safety protocols announced by Government as well as the Association’s continuous engagement with the COVID-19 Advisory Team.

The GFA will continue to work with Government, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Authority, the Ghana Health Service, the GFA Medical Committee, Clubs and all relevant stakeholders to bring back football in the safest way for all participants.

The new season which will be run as a project will be dubbed – Football Against COVID-19 – offering entertainment to Ghanaians while staying safe at home.

The Executive Council also discussed the possibility of changing the format of the Leagues following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new season may be designed differently to ensure completion, and one of the scenarios being considered is playing behind closed doors at carefully selected game centres.

In a related development, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has decided to open the next football transfer window from Saturday, August 15, 2020 and end on Saturday, October 31, 2020 in accordance with the GFA regulations.

The Executive Council (EXCO) of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) are considering 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season to be played in Northern and Southen zones, according to reports.

The planning for the new season has begun after the GFA had made the big Covid-19 enforced decision to cancel the 2019/20. Additionally, the player transfer window has also been identified.

The Ghana FA has suggested that the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League campaign is likely to start in October this year.

However, the Executive Council according to Oyerepa FM sources have proposed that the new season should be divided into two zones (Southern and Northern) sector due to the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

If this happens, it will be the second time the Ghana premier league will be played in zones after the 2004/2005 season where Hearts of Oak won the championship after pipping Kotoko by a lone goal at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Normalization Committee Special Competitions (Tier 1 and Tier 2) in 2019 was played in two zones which were won by Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold respectively.

The next football transfer window will be opened from Saturday, August 15, 2020, and end on Saturday, October 31, 2020, in accordance with the GFA regulations.
