Liberty Professionals midfielder, Mubarak Alhassan, has completed his transfer to Spanish La Liga outfit Granada CF after months of negotiations.
Alhassan joins Granada for an undisclosed fee.

The 18 year old enjoyed a stellar five months with the Scientific Soccer Lads since joining them from WAFA in October 2019.

The teenager scored 5 goals and assisted another 5 in 13 games in the truncated 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

Alhassan joins a long list of Ghanaian players to have played for the Andalusian clubs including Mubarak Wakaso, Jonathan Mensah, Clifford Aboagye and Aziz Tetteh.

Speaking exclusively to Citi Sports on his transfer, the highly-rated youngster, nicknamed “Aboabo Iniesta” described the move as the perfect next step in his career.

“This is the best moment in my career to make this move because everyone wants an opportunity like this,” he said.

“At an early age, I have always wanted to play for clubs in Spain because I see myself as an [Andres] Iniesta type of player and I was given that name too so I think it’s the best place for me to develop as at now,” Alhassan concluded.

With Ghana’s borders currently closed as preventive measure against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Alhassan is expected to fly out to join his new teammates as soon as the borders are opened.

Former Asante Kotoko player Windsor Kofi Abbrey will be receiving an amount of GHS 2,000 from vibrant Asante Kotoko supporters group KUM APEM.

The presentation is slated for Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at exactly 11am. Ace Sports journalist Kuntu Blankson – head of sports Westgold Radio in Takoradi – is expected to do the presentation on behalf of the Kum Apem Group.

The vibrant WhatsApp group, known for their heartwarming gestures are raising funds to support some of their old players and officials who are in need financially at the moment.

The official ceremony is slated for Kumasi on August 1, 2020 but have decided to do that of Abbrey who is in Sekondi Takoradi and will not be able to make the trip to the Ashanti Regional capital.

This project is expected to raise GHc20,000 to support ten individuals who have sacrificed for the club in the past namely, Winsdor Kofi Abbrey, Abubakar Gariba, Dogo Moro, Kweku Minka, Omono Asamoah, Agyemang Duah, Kweku Ofori, Prince Adu-Poku, Julius Agyabeng who has been paralyzed for the last 7 years as well as Nana Berchie, who was behind the steer when Kotoko’s team bus had an accident in 2017.

Ghana Football Association Executive Council Member George Amoako has admitted that his the football governing body failed to consult clubs before disbursing the FIFA/CAF Covid-19 relief fund.

Some football administrators have opposed the disbursement plan used by the Ghana FA in sharing the stimulus package to the various stakeholders.

A section of them publicly indicated that they will reject their portion of the amount allocated to them.

But the King Faisal Executive Chairman, George Amoako has conceded the FA failed to consult the clubs.

“You are serving your as an Exco,your Association members are not happy with some these things, you sit down with them, jaw jaw and try to come to the Center where all and sundry will agree and understand that this is what will augur well for us. We will evaluate our proposal and hopefully after meeting the clubs and other stakeholders, we will find a way out,” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

“I concede that we could have consulted before coming out with the allocation, that was the best option but you will bear with me that before we went into caucus to discuss this,the pressure was enormous so we couldn’t have kept another 3 days to start consultations,we had to come out.

“We have seen and heard opinions being expressed here and there although some are vulgar.”

King Faisal head coach Slaviša Božičić has completed his three-year contract extension with the club.

The 54-year-old joined the Ghana Premier League side earlier this year in a short-term deal, but has extended his stay until July, 2023.

According to Oyerepa FM Slaviša Božičić will take home $3,000 as monthly salary, and has been given a target of reaching the Top 4 at the close of the season.

The Executive Chairman of the club, George Amoako is hoping that Slaviša Božičić gives them the needed results when football returns.

“We have no qualms with him and entering a 3-year permanent deal with him. We hope we can get the results from him,” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

Ghana’s 18- Premier League Clubs have finally accepted the FIFA relief fund disbursement formula use by the embattled Ghana Football Association (GFA) after marathon meeting on Wednesday.

Despite agitating that they deserve more than the amount the GFA allocated to each club in the top-flight and vowed to out-rightly reject the money, cools heads prevailed to allow the 18 clubs to accept the initial $15,000 each given them.

The money from FIFA and CAF, meant to help clubs and the football fraternity ride the financial storm brought by the coronavirus pandemic, had generated controversy with the disbursement of the money.

Some of the clubs said they deserve more from the sharing formula which led to the GFA calling fro a crisis meeting with the stakeholders to address the issue.

There were forecasts for a raucous meeting with the GFA over the sharing formula of the money with even punters and even highly rated casinos like captain cooks even venturing to take odds on the outcome of the meeting.

However the expected fiery ending to the meeting was not to be as the GFA played the cards of admitting its fault in not consulting the clubs before reaching the decision on the sharing formula.

That paved the way for the clubs to hold their fire and accept the initial amount tabled by the GFA to help solve the issue amiably.

The clubs finally took the decision to accept the money after a marathon meeting with the leadership of the FA on Wednesday, GHANAsocernet.com can exclusively report.

FA boss Kurt Okraku and General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo as well other Executive Council members Dr Toni Aubynn, Nana Sarfo Oduro and Samuel Anim Addo attended the crunch meeting.

The clubs had initially raised concerns as they were unhappy with the amount allocated to them by the GFA. The FA announced that $270,000 of the total $1.8 million will be shared amongst the clubs.

The top-flight clubs felt they deserved more, however, following the meeting they have now agreed to accept the amount allocated to them. This means each Premier League club will receive $15,000.

AshantiGold coach, Thomas Duah has advised out-of-contract players of the club to put a stop to certain behaviours that could jeopardize their career in future.

The Miners could lose about four instrumental players including Latif Anabila, Shafiu Mumuni, Appiah McCarthy and James Akaminko.

According to reports, Shafiu Mumuni has rejected a contract extension offer from the Obuasi-based club as he is reported to have agreed personal terms with city rivals Asante Kotoko.
Midfielder James Akaminko has also been heavily linked with a move to the Porcupine Warriors.

According to Thomas Duah, the club has submitted a proposals for extension of their contracts, but the players are surprisingly unwilling to sign, putting up some lackadaisical attitudes.

He warned them to be careful about their behaviour in order not to attract the wrath of the owners and leave in peace.

“I want to advise these players to abstain from certain behaviors which ends up jeopardizing their future,” Thomas Duah told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

“They always make club owners say bad things about them, some cursing them because they fail to show appreciation especially when their contracts nears expiring, the manner in which they leave their various clubs is appalling.

He continued: “These are difficult times and they should think about the club as well, I will use Bismark Idan as example, he didn’t leave in peace and so couldn’t play when he joined B.Chelsea from Kessben because of the attitude he put up.

“They should make sure they are leaving in peace and stop the lackadaisical attitude they are putting up. Ashgold has offered these players proposals but they playing hide and seek with management which is unfair, they shouldn’t attract the wrath of club owners because these are hard times and their managers should warn them to desist from such.

“They should let blessings lead them in the life they living and not curses. They should not let club owners grief because of them because one good turn deserves another.

“My advice is that they should leave in peace and not create any problems for themselves so they can play well.”

Accra Hearts Of Oak have announced the signing of teenage striker Isaac Mensah.

The young attacker joined the Ghanaian giants in a three-year deal from Division One League side Nkoranza Warriors after a fruitful negotiations.

Mensah commenced his career at Royals FC at Konongo in the Ashanti Region before switching to the second-tier side.

He is expected to join his teammates when football in the West African country resumes. At the moment, football activities are frozen due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic which has forced the Ghana Football Association to annul the 2019-20 football season.

Speaking after completing his deal, Mensah told the Phobians’ Media that he will work hard to repose the trust imposed in him by the club.

‘“I am very happy to have signed for a huge club like Hearts of Oak and, I cannot wait to get started with my new teammates”, Mensah told Hearts Media after signing.

“It is every young players’ dream to play for a big club at the highest level and I want to help the club win trophies and leave a good imprint at the club.”

“I want to make the fans happy with good performances and, I will work hard to repose the trust imposed in me by the team.”

Ghana’s new season is tentatively set for second week of October when the government of Ghana gives the green light for the resumption of football in the country.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has signed an agreement with kits and football manufacturer Macron as the Official Match ball partner/sponsor.

The deal, valued at One Million Six Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢1.6m) is for the next three seasons.

Macron will be the official Match Ball partner for three of our products, i.e. Ghana Premier League, MTN FA Cup and the National Division One League.

Macron will supply the GFA a total of Five Thousand (5,000) pieces of footballs and One Thousand and Five Hundred (1,500) pieces of bibs every season.

The deal will help the GFA and clubs cut cost as allocation for football and bibs will be taken care of.

Ghana Premier League side Karela United are set to receive a new bus from Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) according to reports.

The image of the bus was leaked on Social Media Tuesday, which got so many people talking about it.

According to the reports, the images circulating are yet to be approved or confirmed although top officials have informed the Technical Team and Management members.

The arrival of the bus is expected to help the Anyinase-based when the new season gets underway.

The Board of Professional Football Association of Ghana(PFAG) have agreed to use their $2,000 share of the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Fund as insurance cover for
the Ghana Women’s Premier League players.

Last week, the Ghana Football Association released the disbursement of the stimulus package to all stakeholders of the game in the West African country.

The Ghana football Association after their Executive Council meeting announced that Ghana Women’s Premier League clubs will pocket $160,000 from the COVID-19.

The 16 top-flight clubs will get $10,000 each from the fund, whiles the 72 Women’s Division One Regional Clubs will share $60,000 among themselves.

Division One League(DOL) on the other hand, were allocated $7,500 each by the Association.

However, the PFAG has decided to use their share of $2,000 as insurance package for the players of Women’s Premier League and Division One players, according to the Head of Players Relations for PFAG Yusif Alhassan Chibsah on Accra-based Angel 102.9FM.

Meanwhile the PFAG will continue to pay insurance cover for the Men’s Premier League teams for the next two(2) seasons.

This will be seen as huge relief for the clubs following the unexpected financial difficulties faced due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

The outbreak of the Coronovirus pandemic forced the Ghana Football Association to cancel the 2019/2020 football season due to the government measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

The new season is tentatively scheduled to start second week of October.
