Manchester United Supporters Club Ghana appoints RexDanquah as Patron

Manchester United Supporters Club of Ghana has announced the appointment of Mr. Magnus RexDanquah as Patron of their Supporters’ Club.

According to the Club, Mr. RexDanquah brings on board over 30 years of experience in sportbusiness, PR and events management.

An accomplished consultant to a number of institutions, his background makes “him the right person for this role towards the growth of our Club”.

Mr. RexDanquah, in his response to the appointment, stated: “I’ve been a proud Manchester United FC fan for the past 50+ years, thus I see the elevation to the position of a Patron more as a call to duty and growth for the accredited fan base in Ghana”.

“As the greatest global football brand, I look forward to great initiatives by our MU Supporters Club for the benefit of our nation, Ghana, leveraging all my expertise, knowledge and influences toward this goal”, he added.

“I thank the Ghana MU Supporters Club for the opportunity to serve in all ways, even as I look forward to a future visit to Ghana by our Club during my lifetime.”

Ghanaian and former AC Milan attacker, Kevin-Prince Boateng has expressed his concerns about how his brothers are not always on his side but they will always be his heart.

Jerome who saw his post later responded to him to bring back the brotherly love.

Kevin in his birthday message to his brother, Jerome wrote: “My brothers might not always be on my side, but they will always be in my heart‼️ happy birthday @jeromeboateng love you ❤️?”

Following Kevin’s message to his brothers, Jerome responded by saying;

2020/21 Spanish La Liga Fixtures Released[Check Match-day 1 to 38]

The Spanish La liga fixtures list for the 2020/2021 season has been confirmed with the new season set to commence on the weekends of 12-13 September, 2020.

Starting in September this year, the new league season’s last round of fixtures will be completed on May 23, 2021 ahead of the rescheduled European Championships next summer.

The matches scheduled for matchday 1 on September 13 include Alaves vs Real Betis, Eibar vs Celta Vigo, Granada vs Athletic Club, Valencia vs Levante and Real Valladolid vs Real Sociedad.

Other matchday 1 fixtures such as Real Madrid vs Getafe, Barcelona vs Elche and Athletico Madrid vs Sevilla will be played at a later date, specifically on the third week. There will be seven matches played on the opening day.

First El clasico of the season, Barcelona v Real Madrid has been scheduled for 25 October, matchday 7 at the Camp Nou, with the second fixture, Real Madrid v Barcelona slated for April, matchday 30.

Second batch of players for U-20 pre-selection exercise to begin camping on Sunday[CHECK THE LIST]

Seventy players are expected to report to the National U-20 male team’s camp at the GFA Technical Centre (GSCE) in Prampram on Sunday, September 6.

With the first batch of 70 players expected to conclude their pre-selection exercise this week, the second batch are set to report to camp and would undergo the mandatory COVID-19 testing.

All invited players are advised to report to the GFA Technical Centre on Sunday at 12:00 noon prompt.

The Black Satellites are preparing for the WAFU ‘B’ U-20 qualification tournament to be staged in Togo later this year.

The winner and runners up from the WAFU ‘B’ U20 tournament would qualify to the 2021 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania in February next year.

Award-winning sportscaster, Moses Antwi Benefo is otherwise known as PJ Mosey has joined Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.
The former Happy FM sports show host has joined Nhyira FM as the new host of the station’s sports show.

Kyfilla.com earlier broke the news a few weeks ago that, the delight to listen to sports show host is joining Nhyira FM with a deal almost done.

PJ Mosey has joined Nhyira FM after almost three years of existing the airwaves for a new challenge at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

PJ Mosey has joined the Multimedia Group subsidiary as the replacement of Bright Kankam Boadu who left Nhyira FM for Pure FM in Kumasi alongside his crew.

He has formerly worked at Space FM(Sunyani), Skyy FM(Sunyani), Fox FM(Kumasi), Hot FM(Accra), Asempa FM(Accra), Metro FM(Kumasi) and Kyzz FM(Takoradi).

Before his new move, PJ Mosey was the head of Media/PR at Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation.

Medeama captain Tetteh Zutah pleads with GFA to establish minimum wage for local players

Medeama SC captain, Joseph Tetteh-zutah has pleaded with the hierarchy of the Ghana Football Association to consider establishing a minimum wage for players in the domestic league.

This follows after the association’s Congress held on September 1, 2020, approved monthly allowances for the federation’s President, vice-president and the Executive Council members.

The GFA Chief will take home 12, 000 Ghana Cedis while the vice will receive 7,000 Ghana cedis. Other Executive Council members will be paid 4,000 Ghana Cedis every month.

Tetteh-Zutah believes that ‘Creating Wealth ‘ as espoused by the GFA should be extended to the players who ply their trade in Ghana.

According to him, if the players are paid well, the mass exodus of local players will be curbed.

“We are happy Football is coming back but as players, we have been advocating for a standard minimum wage that will see players paid well and reduce player exodus for some time now, ” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

“This is a major concern to us, we know they have come to work to improve Ghana Football so they should take a look at this.

“Creating wealth as espoused by the GFA President is not for the players only but across the board, administrators etc. Players and club owners will be comfortable.

“We hope to hear positive news, ” he added.

According to the former Asante Kotoko captain, his failure to renew his stay with the Miners was not due to higher demands from the club, but feels it is time for him to continue the journey elsewhere.

Donkor has been impressive since he joined the the four-time league champions.

Ashantigold enter race for teenage sensation Mathew Cudjoe

AshantiGold has put in an offer for Asante Kotoko-bound teenage sensation Mathew Anim Cudjoe, according to the player’s manager Samuel Anim Addo.

The 17-year-old joined Asante Kotoko last season on loan where he was very impressed. His outstanding performance in the truncated Ghana Premier League saw many clubs, including the Porcupine Warriors chasing for his signature.

AshantiGold, who are looking to augment their squad ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup campaign next season has made an offer for Mathew Anim having lost many players in the ongoing transfer window.

“I can tell you that even Ashantigold have made a request for him, not only Kotoko; and so many other clubs that I can’t mention,” Anim Addo told Citi Sports.

“There are also offers from European clubs and but for COVID, he may have been outside the country by now because of the program that we had.

“But we are not in a rush at all. Even if he has to play in the local league, he will have to play for a club that is good for his development.

Cudjoe has had trials with Bayern Munich in Germany before returning to Kotoko last season.

Former Black Stars General Captain, Asamoah Gyan who has of late been playing lawn tennis has disclosed that he wants to support the top players and motivate then to shine in their chosen field of sports.

Gyan’s Baby-Jet Promotions partnered MANCWA Commodities to organize the recent Top 16 Invitational tourney at the Army Officers Mess at 37, Accra said he just wants to support and rise the image and standard of tennis in the country as there are some wonderful players who must be inspired.

Speaking to the media at the tennis event on the penultimate day, he expressed that tennis is not popular like in the past, and the current players need to be pushed to go high.

“Ghanaians don’t follow tennis like before”, Gyan observed.

“I’m appealing to the media to give tennis attention a bit”, he stressed.

He said although “football is the number one sport and we respect that, tennis “is my second love, this is what I am doing now,” Gyan stated.

Black Stars’s all-time top goalscorer believes helping others to get exposure with their talent is the way to go.

The prolific striker revealed that the plan is to unearth talents in tennis, as he has witnessed some impressive performances.

On the final day, Johnson Acquah defeated Bernard Ashitey Armaah 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in 2 hours 45 minutes to win the maiden edition of the Baby-Jet & MANCWA Commodities Top 16 Invitational tourney at the Army Officers Mess Tennis Club, 37.
