Ghana’s Mahatma Otoo nets brace for Balikesirspor in league opener

Ghanaian forward, Mahatma Osumanu Otoo netted a brace to propel Balikesirspor Kulübü Derneği to a home win against Giresunspor Klübü on Monday.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak striker opened his goalscoring account in the Turkish Lig 1 in a season opener win for Balikesirspor with a brace to ensure a comfortable win for the Red and Whites.

Otoo found the back of the net in the closing stages of the first half when he grabbed a 46th minutes goal to drew first blood for his team going into the first half break.

Back from recess and the 28-year-old marksman picked up from where he left off in the first half as he netted his brace to give the host a 2-0 inside 74 minutes.

Celal dede added the third goal after 90 minutes to hand Balikesirspor a perfect start to the season with a resounding 3-0 lead before Muhammed Erturk Himmet scored a consolation for for Giresunspor three minutes into added on time.

The game finished 3 – 1 to Balikesirspor.

The Ghanaian forward forward lasted the entire duration of the match as he started the 2020-21 Turkish second tier league with a bang by grabbing two important goals which secured all three points for Balikesirspor.

The former Hearts captain now has two goals from one match in the Turkey Lig 1 this campaign.

Asamoah Gyan has never liked the idea of the General Captain – Gyan’s Manager

Asamoah Gyan’s Business Manager, Samuel Anim Addo has stated unequivocally that the decision of the Ghana Football Association to maintain Andre Ayew as captain of the senior national team, Black Stars is the best decision taken by Coach C.K Akonnor.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in an official communication announced on Sunday that Swansea City forward Andre Ayew has been re-named substantive captain of the Black Stars, with  Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori of Maritzburg in the Premier Soccer League in South Africa as first and second deputies respectively. 

 Speaking to Nhyira Power Sports in reaction to the changes from the Black Stars Technical Team, Anim Addo revealed that the camp of Gyan has never liked the General captain idea.

 “Asamoah Gyan has held successful meetings with the Black Stars management Committee. The Asamoah Gyan camp has never liked the idea of the ‘General Captain’. There was no way he was going the wear the arm band when he isn’t the captain anymore. Due to his love for Ghana, he returned to play for the team on the request of the President and other top officials even when he announced his retirement,” Anim Addo informed Nhyira FM. 

The 34-year-old, according to Anim Addo is not in hurry to quit the Black Stars.

“Gyan believes he is a role model for most of the players and regardless his role in the national team. At any point in time he is willing to give his brotherly support to any leader present and is only interested in serving Ghana in any capacity. This is the best decision taken by CK Akunnor,” he added.

Asante Kotoko settle George Amoako’s five months debt

Asante Kotoko has finally settled arrears owed their former chief Executive Officer, George Amoako.

The current King Faisal FC CEO was dismissed in July following the appointment of a new Board of Directors.

However, Amoako who has had several stints with the club was owed five months salary before his sacking.

The Ghana Football Association Executive Council member who was reported to be on a monthly salary of GHS 6,000 a month was owed from March to June this year.

Confirming to Oyerepa FM, George Amoako said:

“It’s true, the board has paid the money they owed me, they have paid all- George Amoako confirmed to Oyerepa FM.

Ghana FA deputy General Secretary Emmanuel Dasoberi has resigned from his position after diligently serving the country’s football governing body for a decade.

The highly-rated administrator tendered in his resignation on Monday morning.

”Today, September 14, 2020, I personally presented my letter of resignation to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo at the Head Office of the GFA in Accra,” the CAF instructor posted on Facebook on Monday morning.

He added that: ”It has been great serving the football governing body in various capacities in the last 10 years. But I believe it is time for me to move on for a new challenge.”

The astute football administrator, footy.ghpush.com/ understands, has resigned from his posts to hold a new position at Asante Kotoko as an administrative manager of the club.

Ghana’s midfielder Bernard Mensah has expressed his happiness after scoring his first league goal for Turkish side Besiktas.

The 25-year-old who joined Besiktas on a season long-loan from Kayserispor in the ongoing transfer window netted from the spot to help  Besiktas secure a 3-1 win over Trabzonspor in the Super Lig on Sunday.

“Philippians 4:13 ??⚡️⚡️?? #Godfirst #nevergiveup”, the Black Stars midfielder tweeted after the game.

Besiktas have the first option to sign the Ghanaian permanently at the end of the season should he impress the technical team.

Kingsley Sarfo – I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to show myself to the world again and I have it

Disgraced Ghanaian midfielder Kingsley Sarfo has now found a new club and home in Cyprus as he has signed for Cyprus club Olympiacos Nicosia.

The player has confirmed he has found a new club and says he had been waiting to get an opportunity to show himself to the world .

He was jailed for two years and eight months in Sweden for two counts of child rape , a Malmo District Court ruled in June 2018.

His appeal to have the sentence overturned was rejected five months later meaning he had to serve all the jail sentence.

It was last winter when Kingsley Sarfo was released from Swedish prison after serving his 2 years and 8 months sentence for rape of a child.

The former Malmö FF and Sirius player has been clubless since then.

Speaking to the UNT newspaper, the 25-year old has opened up on how he had to work hard for the opportunity.

“It has been hard work to get a new club after everything that has happened. I have been waiting for an opportunity and now I have a chance to show myself to the world again”, Sarfo said.

He has in the past played for Malmö FF, Rosengård, BW 90, and IK Sirius all in Sweden.

Andre Ayew maintains Black Stars captaincy, Two others to assist him

The Technical team of the senior national team, the Black Stars, upon a broad consultation, has maintained Andre Ayew as Captain of the side.

The Swansea City attacker who led Ghana to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, maintains his position as leader of the team despite changes at the technical realm of the senior national team.

In a related development, Thomas Teye Partey of Atletico Madrid has been appointed as 1st Vice Captain while Richard Ofori steps in as 2nd Vice Captain.

The trio will lead the team as the Black Stars go through the remaining Africa Cup of Nation qualifiers as well as the qualifying games for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and subsequent tournaments.
