Qatar coach Sanchez Bas announces 25-man squad for Ghana friendly

Qatar coach Felix Sanchez Bas has named his 25-man squad for the international friendly against Ghana this month.

The Asian champions will face the Black Stars in Antalya, Turkey on Monday, October 12, 2020. Kickoff is 15:30 GMT.

Bas’ 25-man list is fully home-based.

2019 Asia Cup of Nations best player and top scorer Almoez Ali Abdulla will feature for the Maroons.

Steven Mukwala – The highly-rated Ugandan striker linked with a move to Asante Kotoko

The prolific attacker is on the verge of completing his switch the Porcupine Warriors ahead of their next season’s campaign.  

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko are set to announce the signing of Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala in the ongoing transfer window. 

The 21-year-old has been identified as a top transfer target for the Kumasi-based club following his exploits in the Uganda Premier League for the past seasons.

 It is believed that the most successful club in Ghana are in advanced talks with the young attacker over his possible acquisition this month. 

The club’s Communications Manager, Moses Antwi Benefo disclosed on Thursday in an interview with Oyerepa FM that his outfit will be announcing a highly-rated striker from Uganda.

 “We are expecting the arrival of a Ugandan striker for our next season’s campaign,” Antwi Benefo told Oyerepa FM.

Mukwala was part of the Vipers Squad that won the Azam Uganda Premier League and was much in the plans of Miguel Da Costa the coach of Vipers by then who had build trust in him after scoring crucial goals for the team in the quest for the title of 2017.

In 2019, Mukwala was loaned at Maroons FC for the new season 2019-2020 where he has scored 13 goals and one of the league top scorers with five games to go in the Uganda Premier League.

His speed and power to finish the ball has caught the eye of many other clubs but giving first priority to his mother Club Vipers SC.

 According Oyerepa FM, the Porcupine Warriors are in advanced talks with Vipers SC to secure the signature of the Uganda U23 forward for their 2020/21 season campaign.

 Mukwala will become the third Ugandan international to play for Asante Kotoko after Joseph Ochaya and George Abege.

Tunisian giants Esperance table $200,000 for Kotoko’s Christopher Nettey

The Tunisian top-flight league giants have reportedly expressed interest in signing the budding talented full-back.

Asante Kotoko SC defender Christopher Nettey is courting interest from Tunisian giants Esperance in the ongoing transfer window.

According to myfabulousonline.com, the North African club have tabled a $200,000 bid for the 22-year-old over a possible acquisition this summer. 

Nettey who joined the Porcupine Warriors from lower-tier side Attram De Visser Academy in December 2019 is set to leave the club for free due to an unpaid signing-on fee. He was signed on a three-year deal worth $35,000 but the erstwhile Management of Asante Kotoko could not pay a penny to the player as well as the former team.

 The 22-year-old is currently not part of the Asante Kotoko that have commenced preparations for the upcoming season following an unpaid signing-on fee. He made 13 appearances for Asante Kotoko and won three NASCO man of the match awards in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

 His departure will affect the Kumasi-based club immensely with only Samuel Frimpong left for the right-back position after Augustine Sefah was released following the expiration of his contract.

Top-notch Ugandan striker joining Kotoko – Moses Antwi Benefo

Asante Kotoko Communications Manager, Moses Antwi Benefo has disclosed that the club will be revealing the identity of a top-notch Ugandan striker who is joining the team in the upcoming season.

The Ghanaian giants are currently busy on the transfer market, having already acquired Kwame Poku, Emmanuel Sarkodie, Yusif Mubarik and Emmanuel Keyekeh in the ongoing transfer window.

The club is also in talks with Latif Anabila and Justice Blay.

 “We are expecting the arrival of a Ugandan striker for our next season’s campaign,” Antwi Benefo told Oyerepa FM 

“We are also expecting the arrival of all the locally-based players to complete their move tomorrow [Friday]” 

 Coach Maxwell Konadu’s side has commenced training for the 2020/21season.

Kotoko Communications Manager gives update on Asamoah Gyan’s move to the club

Communications Manager of Asante Kotoko, Moses Antwi Benefo has revealed that the club is close to signing Ghanaian International Asamoah Gyan.

According to him, the only thing left is for the two parties to agree on the personal terms of the former Sunderland striker.

The manager of the former Black Stars skipper, Samuel Anim Addo has already disclosed Gyan will not resist an offer to play for the Porcupine Warriors once it is enticing.

Reports in the local media suggest Gyan is demanding a signing-on fee of $500,000 before he joins the Reds.

Responding to Gyan’s imminent move to Kumasi, Antwi Benefo indicated that the club believes the time is now for Gyan to complete his move to the club.

“We believe the time is now for Asamoah Gyan to join Asante Kotoko. He’ll be a crowd puller and also very marketable. The only left is the monetary aspect, hope to clear that aspect. He has told us if we can meet his demands, he’s ready to play for Kotoko, ” Moses Antwi Benefo told Oyerepa FM.

If he agrees to join Kotoko, he will be following in the footsteps of his elder brother, Baffour, who also featured for the Porcupine Warriors in the 2010/11 season in the twilight of his career.

Gyan played in the local game 17 years ago for Liberty Professionals as a teenager before leaving for a professional career in Europe.

As well as facing the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, United must also take on German giants RB Leipzig if they are to progress to the knockout stages.

Solskjaer’s side will also face Turkish champions Istanbul Basaksehir in the 2020-21 Group of Death.

Meanwhile, Chelsea were given one of the easier groups, facing Sevilla in Group E.

However, Frank Lampard’s side must endure a long trip to Russian side Krasnodar, while also facing Champions League debutants Rennes.

Liverpool – the 2019 Champions League winners – take on Ajax in Group D.

The Premier League champions will also face exciting Serie A side Atalanta and Midtjylland, in the Danish side’s first-ever Champions League campaign.

Manchester City, still desperately chasing their first Champions League crown, sit in a reasonably simple-looking Group C.

Pep Guardiola’s squad will need to battle past Porto, Olympiacos and Marseille to reach the knockout stages.

Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will face each other in a tasty-looking Group G, with Juventus paired with Barcelona.

The two giants of world football will also take on Dynamo Kiev and Ferencvaros.

Real Madrid were paired with Inter Milan in the pick of the Group B games – joining Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Bayern Munich drew Atletico Madrid in a tough Group A, along with RB Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moscow.

Meanwhile Borussia Dortmund will take on Lazio, Zenit and Club Brugge in Group F.

Patrick Asmah is joining Kotoko – Moses Antwi Benefo

The Communications Manager of Asante Kotoko, Moses Antwi Benefo has confirmed that Atalanta misfit Patrick Asmah is joining the club.

footy.ghpush.com/ earlier reported that the former Ghana Under-20 star has had talks with the hierarchy of the Porcupine Warriors for a possible move in the ongoing transfer.

And, according to the club’s Spokesperson the head coach of the club, Maxwell Konadu has mentioned that the versatile left-back is joining Kotoko.

The 24-year-old is currently a free agent after ending his four-year stay with Italian Serie A side Atalanta BC following the expiration of his contract. He failed to break into the first team of after joining from Ghanaian second-tier club B.A United in 2016. 

The left-back who can operate as a defensive midfielder was farmed out to Avellino, Salernitana and Slovakian Fortuna Liga club FK Senica.

 He was released by Atalanta BC after his loan spell at FK Senica, where he scored three times with five assists in 25 matches. 

Asmah was a member of the Ghana U20 that played at the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015.

Nii Odoom – “Hearts of Oak will win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League”

Hearts of Oak head coach, Edward Nii Odoom, has said the Phobians will win the upcoming 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title, which will be their first in ten years if achieved.

The 20-time Ghana Premier League winners, which is the second-best in the country, are yet to win a GPL title since they last won it in the 2008/09 season.

Asante Kotoko are the club with the most Ghana Premier League titles, 23.

Nii Odoom, who was promoted from Hearts’ B team to replace sacked Kim Grant after matchday one of the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season, stated everything has been positive ahead of the start of the new season.

He called on the fans of the club to continue where they left off last season to help break the ten-year GPL trophy drought, which he stated emphatically without mincing words.

“Hearts of Oak fans did very well for us in the season which was truncated. They followed us to every match so we want the same thing this season”, he told GTV Sports plus.

“So far as we have started, this year will be a very good year for us. If I look at my boys, they are very determined.

“Since we started the beach and gym work, their attitude is very perfect. Hearts of Oak will win the 2020/20 Ghana Premier League. We are going to break the jinx that has eluded us for the past ten years.”

The Ghana Football Association has set October 13, 2020, for the start of the new season and Phobia fans will hope Nii Odoom’s words become a reality at the end of the season.
