Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Masawudu Alhassan has been confirmed dead in Libya during a trial at a second-tier club.

Alhassan, 27, met his untimely death after leaving the shores of Ghana weeks ago to secure a deal at a Libyan club. 

According to a family member of the 27-year-old midfielder who confirmed to the news, Alhassan was found shot dead by an unknown individuals in the North African country.

 Alhassan featured for Hearts of Oak during the 2012/13 season. 

He also played for Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.

Ghana Football Association President, Kurt ES Okraku has expressed his displeasure about an allegation levelled against his club by Directors of Division One League side Bofoakwa Tano.

JY Appiah and Yaw Boateng Gyan – both directors of Bofoakwa Tano – in a separate interview claimed that Asante Kotoko newly-recruited youngster Andrews Kwadwo Appau was dropped from the Ghana U-20 team preparing for the upcoming WAFU tournament because he refused to sign for Dreams FC.

According to them, officials of Dreams FC called the highly-rated defender that he risked losing his position at the Black Starlets for refusing to sign for Dreams FC which is owned by Kurt Okraku.

Dreams FC have since reported the case to the Ghana FA which has been forward to the Ethics Committee.

Responding to the claims, Kurt Okraku indicated that Dreams FC should not suffer from weird allegations because he is the current Ghana FA boss.

“Mr JY Appiah is my father. I didn’t hear about that conversation and I doubt he will go that way. However, I think we have processes and committees who are responsible for such situations and I will like to leave it to the various committees to work. I don’t want to comment on individual issues. It’s quite unfortunate, ” Kurt Okraku told Hello FM.

“Everyone got to know about Kurt because of the good work I did with Dreams FC and it’s not a secret that it’s my club. I only stepped down as the Executive Chairman of the club but Dreams FC is my club. All the good things about Dreams FC is in the public space for people to see.

“Dreams FC must not suffer because the owner is the current Ghana Football Association president. I think it’s a bit unfair. It’s also unfair that every so-called bad thing is linked with Dreams FC.

“As I said, I don’t want to comment about specifics but we will allow the system to work.

“If you want to be very sincere with the situation you will see positive signals from the jobs of both the Ethics Committee and Integrity section of the GFA. They have been proactive to ensure that the sanctity and integrity of the sport are heavily protected.

“I think they have started well and we only have to be supportive. As stakeholders of football, we have to conduct ourselves well, thinking about Ghana football first.

He also advised all stakeholders of the game to desist from saying things which will affect the image of football negatively.

“If you know that as an individual, what you are going to say will dent the image of the game, you don’t have to do it. When you’re punished you turn round to say Kurt you’re my brother and you’re treating me like that while you know you’ve gone against the law.

“We should all try and make our system efficient and effective, ” he added.

Kurt Okraku, then Executive Chairman of Dreams FC was elected the new President of the GFA on October 25, 2020.

He led the way after the first round of voting and was a vote away from becoming the new President of the Association after the second round.

He polled 59 votes representing 50% of votes cast with candidates needing at least 60 votes to win.

George Afriyie, who polled 40 votes in the first round improved to 43 votes but was still well behind Kurt Okraku.

Nana Yaw Amponsah, who is now CEO of Asante Kotoko saw his tally slashed from 27 in the first round to 16 in the second.

In the third round, Okraku was endorsed by 93 delegates.
