Erstwhile Hearts Of Oak trainer, Kim Grant has emphasised that Black Stats coach CK Akonnor should consider handing striker Kofi Kordzi a call-up.

The former Hearts Of Oak forward joined Qatari side Muaither SC in the summer transfer in a deal reported to be around $150,000.

Kordzi has gradually established himself to be a key member of the side despite his short stay. He continued with his impressive form in their last outing with a hat-trick which propelled his side to a 4-2 win over Mesaimeer SC.

Reacting to the player’s incredible performance, Grant who worked with Kordzi at Hearts Of Oak indicated that, the attacker deserves to be looked at for a national team call-up.

“Delighted to see my boy Kofi Kordzi scoring his hat trick in their 2-4 away win for Muaither SC against Mesaimeer SC yesterday.

“Ghana national team – the Blackstars – Surely, seriously needs to be considered for a call up!!!!!,” the ex-Hearts coach posted on his Facebook wall.

Since joining Muaither SC, Kofi Kordzi has been in extraordinary form and continues to score to help the team pick up important points.

The Ghana Football Association has reinstated Techiman City FC ahead of the start of the 2020-21 National Division One League.

The powerful 12-member Executive Council have tempered justice with mercy after reinstating the club ahead of the new campaign.

This means Techiman City FC will participate in the Division One League zone 1.

The second-tier side we’re suspended provisionally by the Ghana Football Association in September 2020. 

This was after the club went to court to place an interlocutory injunction on the 26th Ordinary Congress.

A Ghana FA statement read: The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the exercise of its powers under Article 39(n) of the GFA Statutes 2019 has suspended Techiman City Football Club provisionally until the next Congress of the GFA for violating the Statutes of the Association.”

Article 39(n) of the GFA Statutes 2019 states as follows: ”The Executive Council shall have the following powers: Dismiss a member of a body of GFA provisionally or suspend a Member of GFA provisionally until the next Congress.”

”It is very clear from the admission requirements under Article 13 and 16(1)(f) of the GFA Statutes 2019 that a member of the GFA will not take matters of interpretation and application of the FIFA, CAF and GFA Statutes, Regulations, decisions and directives to the ordinary courts, unless the FIFA Statutes or regulations, CAF Statutes or the GFA regulations, or binding national law, provide for a stipulate recourse to Ordinary courts.

”Where there are violations, Article 17.1 of the GFA Statues 2019 states that “the Congress is responsible for suspending a Member.

”The Executive Council may, however, temporarily suspend a Member that seriously and/or repeatedly violates its obligations as a Member with immediate effect. The suspension approved by the Executive Council shall last until the next Congress, unless the Executive Council has lifted it in the meantime”.

Article 17(3) of the GFA Statutes states that “a suspended Member shall lose its membership rights. Other Members may not entertain sporting contact with a suspended Member. The Disciplinary Committee may impose further sanctions.”

Consequently, Techiman City FC was provisionally suspended from the Ghana Football Association until the next GFA Congress, where the delegates will be presented with the matter on the agenda for Congress to take a decision on the issue in accordance with the Statutes of the Association.

But the Ghana FA has lifted the suspension, days before the start of the new season.

Former Ghana Football Association vice president, George Afriyie has asserted that Asante Kotoko should consider re-hiring Maxwell Konadu.

The former Black Stars B gaffer was dismissed just after four games into the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors had struggled to find their feet in their opening fixtures and the management led by Nana Yaw Amponsah fired the experienced trainer after losing 1-0 to Great Olympics in Accra.

Konadu’s sacking came as a surprise to many followers of the club who thought the team was still in the process of building a new team, having recruited about 12 players to augment the squad before the start of the season.

George Afriyie in an interview remarked that the sacking came too early as the coach had only supervised four games and needed more time at the club.

“I don’t know what necessitated the sack and if Kotoko can still recall him they should do it,” he told Muftawu Nabila in an interview.

“I was disappointed when they sacked Maxwell Konadu, I will speak as I feel. I don’t know what is going on in the club but as someone who is sitting back and looking at the situation, I am disappointed”.

“Maxwell Konadu is a very good coach and I have worked with him before. He was sacked after only four games, even my Arsenal believe they will bounce back”.

“He is a member of the new face of our coaching alongside the likes of Tanko – Ibrahim and CK Akonnor”, he added.

Asante Kotoko are still in search of a substantive coach.
