2020/21 GPL: Preview: Kotoko in a bid to revive title ambitions against Liberty Professionals
Asante Kotoko will be in action on Monday afternoon in a match-day 8 fixture in the Ghana Premier League against Liberty Professionals after their controversial exit from the CAF Champions League.
The last game of the match-week 8 is scheduled for 3 pm at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The encounter promises to be cagey as Kotoko will be hoping to make amends after failing to progress to the group stage of the Champions League.
The Porcupine Warriors exited the competition without kicking a ball in the 2nd leg of the final preliminary round after failing to assemble the required number of players for the epic clash against Al-Hilal in Sudan last Wednesday.

Ashantigold recorded their first away win in the ongoing Ghana Premier League by posting a 2-1 win over Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The win moved the Miners to the top of the league on 15 points.
Gladson Awako opened the scoring for the home side with a sumptuous finish.

2020/21 GPL: Match Report: Ten-man Elmina Sharks throw away lead to draw against Hearts of Oak
Ten-man Elmina Sharks threw away yet another lead to draw 1-1 with Hearts of Oak at home on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.
Maybe the score would have been two-all had the referee awarded penalties to both sides in the second half.
Sharks dominated the first half and deservedly found the back of the net and Hearts turned on their style in the second to claw back into the game.
Umar Manaf made a beautiful attempt to score but his effort went over the frame in the 17th minute.
Elmina Sharks would hit back three minutes later through Benjamin Tweneboah but he shot wide.
Midfield gem James Bissue produced an eye-catching performance to beat the Hearts of Oak defence and slotted the ball home for the opening goal of the match.
The Phobians nearly equalized just after the half-hour mark but goalkeeper Bawa Martey produced a quality with another beautiful save from a low powerful drive.
Hearts of Oak continued their push for the equalizer before the break but Elmina Sharks thwarted their efforts with some convincing defending.
Left-back Raddy Ovouka sent a perfectly weighted pass to Daniel Afriyie but a timely clearance by the sharks defenders denied him of a goal.
At the other side, Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richmond Ayi showed quick anticipation to prevents sharks from doubling their lead.
Just before the break, Justice Ato Mensah narrowly missed an empty goal.
Referee Benjamin Kwame Sefa waived play to continue after Sharks talisman Benjamin Tweneboah went down inside the box.
Tweneboah got booked for a yellow after protesting to the centre referee.
Hearts of Oak’s pressure paid off and go the equalizer through Victor Aidoo who headed in a cross from Fatawu Mohammed.

2020/21 GPL: Match Report: Bechem United, King Faisal clash ends in stalemate
Bechem United settled for a pulsating 1-1 draw against King Faisal on matchday 8 of the Ghana Premier League at the Nana Gyeabour Park.
Moro Salifu gave the home side a deserved lead before the break but second half substitute Kwame Preprah leveled for the visitors.
Bechem United nearly took the lead after three minutes, but Hafiz Konkoni’s strike was blocked by Pius Baffour before young goalkeeper Adams Jabal came to the rescue of King Faisal with a brilliant save from Stephen Owusu’s effort.
King Faisal had their own just minutes later but Wadudu Yakubu missed a golden opportunity to put the visitors in front.
Micheal Amoh and Kwadwo Frimpong combined well from the left but the latter once again missed after his effort went inches following a period of dominance from King Faisal.
Bechem United were awarded a freekick few meters after from the box after Konkoni was fouled but Moro Salifu’s effort was too weak to threaten the visitors.
The Hunters came close through Stephen Owusu before Moro Salifu ensured his side went into the break with the lead after netting with a minute left to half time.
King Faisal immediately brought on Kwame Peprah for Kwadwo Frimpong at half time. Peprah wasted no time in announcing his presence after grabbing a equalizer two minutes after the break.
King Faisal had shouts for penalty waved on after Michael Amoh was brought down in the box.
Stephen Owusu nearly gave the home side the lead but the tireless Pius Baffour was at the right place at the right time to clear.
Kwame Peprah was denied by the woodwork after a brilliant play by King Faisal.
With few minutes left Bechem United kept the pressure on Kong Faisal but the visitors defended gallantly to deny the Hunters.

2020/21 GPL: Match Report: Two late second-half goals earn Dreams FC win against Ebusua Dwarfs
Two late second half goals by substitute forward Precious Boah in the Ghana Premier League Week 8 encounter against Ebusua Dwarfs was all Dreams FC needed to return to winning ways.
Despite having chunk share of possession in the opening half, Dreams FC were unable to make it count on the scoresheet as they were held to a goalless draw by a well-determined Dwarfs side.
Newly-appointed Serbian manager Vladislav Viric made a tactical change five minutes after the recess, bringing on Precious Boah in place of Agyenim Boateng-Mensah.
The tactical tweak improved Dreams FC especially at the final third of the pitch as they created several chances to go ahead.
Dwarfs as expected battled it out as they have done under Ernest Thompson Quartey in the ongoing campaign but were also lacking the cutting edge to break the deadlock.
In the 79th minute, Boah eluded his marker to sneak home the initiative for the hosts to send their sizable fans at Dawu Theatre of Dreams Park into frenzy mood.
The hosts didn’t sit back as they continued to attack for the insurance goal.
Dreams FC indeed got their wish on the 90th minute mark after Boah popped up again with another strike.
It is the first win in six attempts by the Still Believe Boys.
The victory takes them above Dwarfs to 14th on the log with 9 points.
