There are countless players in the division who make for enthralling watching, but there are an elite few who stand out from the bunch. Kumasi Sports Academy’s Sandra Osei Nyarko belongs to this wave of talents.

In our quest to keep you posted on how our Women’s clubs are preparing ahead of the upcoming Women’s League, we chanced on the diminutive midfielder who spoke of her side’s readiness ahead of their season’s opener with Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

‘‘ We’re set to have our very first game on the 16th of January, 2021 against Ampem Darkoa Ladies. Ampem Darkoa Ladies are a tough team this playing them at this stage of the season will be a difficult hurdle to overcome but we have the wherewithal to best them and grab all points at stake.” She quipped.

She further threw a challenge to Ampem Darkoa Ladies to prepare very well ahead of the clash as she boldly gushes, that, KUSA would win their first game against Ampem Darkoa Ladies come what may.

” We will beat Ampem Darkoa Ladies willy-nilly. We are well prepared for the task ahead and I know for sure that we are going to win and win convincingly so Ampem Darkoa Ladies should come prepared.” She confidently said.

Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku credits Lionel Messi his goalscoring techniques

Asante Kotoko marksman Kwame Opoku has credited Barcelona star Lionel Messi for the technique used in scoring his second goal against Liberty Professionals in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Opoku bagged a brace as Asante Kotoko bested Liberty Professionals 2-0 on match-day 8 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

His second goal was a Messi-like goal- He controlled the ball with his chest and beat two opponents, before curling the ball over onrushing goalkeeper Kofi Baah of Liberty Professionals.

“I have been watching Lionel Messi’s videos and these are some of the goals he has been scoring, so I will give the credit to Lionel Messi.”

The two goals have taken Opoku’s goal tally to five this season, taking him to the top three scorers in the Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko marksman Kwame Opoku has expressed his excitement following his partnership with Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama in their 2-0 victory over Liberty Professionals in a match-day 8 battle in the Ghana Premier League on Monday.

 
Opoku who put up a man-of-the-match performance in the afternoon netted a brace in the first half to secure the maximum points for the Porcupine Warriors at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Fabio Gama was handed his debut start on the day and, the Brazilian lived up to the billing with some scintillating performance which saw the supporters who thronged to the stadium in wild jubilation.

He exhibited great passing game which saw him provide two assists on the day.

With this, Kwame Opoku feels elated after combining beautifully with Fabio Gama for this tremendous show, noting that he will wish to play alongside with him in every game.

“I am very excited to play with Fabio Gama because he is a very fine player and would love to see him feature in every match with me on the field, ” he said after the game.

“He’s my best friend and we have good talking conditions on the training grounds and this is just the beginning with a matter of time and fitness people see more than what they saw.”

Asante Kotoko forward, Kwame Opoku, was adjudged the best player on the day after their 2-0 home victory over Liberty Professionals on Monday afternoon.

 
Opoku bagged a brace for the Porcupine Warriors to secure all three points with an impressive display over the Scientific Soccer Lads in a match-day 8 battle at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The former Nkoranza Warriors marksman scored on the 10th and 19th minutes of the game to cap a remarkable first-half dominance by the Reds.

He has been a key performer for the Ghanaian giants in the ongoing season after joining them on a three-year deal from Division One League side.

Opoku has scored five (5) goals in his six games outings for Asante Kotoko in the ongoing season.

Match Report: Kwame Opoku’s first-half brace sink Liberty Professionals

Kwame Opoku stole the show with a stunning brace as Asante Kotoko beat Liberty Professionals 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday afternoon. 

Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama, in his first start for the Porcupine Warriors, assisted both goals.

The two goals came before the 25th-minute mark to settle the contest in favour of Kotoko, who are now sixth on the table.

Opoku scored the first goal on 19 minutes as he on to Gama’s pass inside the penalty box and made room for himself before unleashing a powerful shot which took a kind deflection into the net.

Four minutes later, Gama and Opoku combined again to double the lead. Opoku received a brilliant pass from Gama, got the better of his markers and dinked the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

Kotoko who came into the game on the back of controversial elimination from the Caf Champions League were the better side and deservedly won.

Liberty had a couple of decent opportunities but Kotoko defended well to claim a clean sheet.

The result means Kotoko, with a game in hand, are three points adrift of league leaders Bechem United while Liberty have 10 points and occupy 10th position.

Ghanaian forward Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah completes FC Lugano switch

Ghanaian attacker Asumah Abubakar has completed his move to Swiss Super League outfit FC Lugano.

Abubakar signed a two-year deal with the club on Monday after passing his mandatory medicals.

He joined the club after successful season with Swiss Challenge League SC Kreins.

The deal is reported to be in the region of €600,000 for the former former Willem II attacker.

Asumah has scored 7 goals in 11 games for SC Kriens this season.

He is expected to feature for the Swiss Super League side when the league resume on January 17, 2021.

Last season, the Ghanaian poacher plundered 15 goals in the Challenge League.

Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Poku has scored a ‘jaw-breaking’ goal for the Porcupine Warriors in their game against Liberty Professionals.

The former Nkoranza Warriors forward proved once again hi’s importance to the Ghanaian giant’s team in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season so far.

He scored a brilliant goal from chipping the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper from an accurate pass from Fabio Gama.

The game is still ongoing at the Accra Sports Stadium and Kotoko are leading 2-0, all scored by Kwame Opoku.

Hearts Of Oak forward Victor Aidoo set sights on scoring more goals in the Ghana Premier League

Hearts of Oak youngster, Victor Aidoo is hoping to score more goals for the club after netting to salvage a point against Elmina Sharks on Sunday evening.

Ten-man Elmina Sharks played a 1-1 stalemate with the Phobians in a match-day 8 battle in the Ghana Premier League.

Aidoo’s second-half header guaranteed the Phobians a point at the dreaded Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina.

This was after James Bissue had scored in the 20th minute for the home side.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Aidoo said: “I need to start scoring more goals but the interest of the team is what comes to mind anytime I go on the pitch.

“I want to try and do what I can to help the team on and off the pitch.”

The goal was his third in two games after scoring a brace in the 6-1 thumping of Bechem United last weekend in Accra.

Asante Kotoko Stop-gap coach Johnson Smith has named his starting line up to face Liberty Professionals this afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors are hosting Liberty Professionals in their match-week 8 all-important fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Coach Smith has made changes in his line up to battle out with the ‘Scientific Soccer’ lads as Habib Mohammed and Emmanuel Gyamfi have been dropped from the starting XI squad list.  

Trio Mubarik Yusif, Samuel Frimpong and Emmanuel Sarkodie have earned places in the team as well as Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama who has been handed a starting berth after making his debut for the club last month.

Goalkeeper Razak Abalora has maintained his place in the sticks for Asante Kotoko, leaving Kwame Baah on the bench as Felix Annan failed to make the match-day squad.
