Accra Hearts of Oak maintained a super performance in the Ghana Premier league taking their unbeaten run to 4 consecutive games with a 2-0 victory against ‘stubborn’ TECHIMAN Eleven wonders.

The Phobians went straight into acrion seeking to get the opener to unsettle the visitors, but Benjamin Afutu and Nuru Sulley missed narrowly from clsoe range headers with Goalkeeper John Moosie completely beaten.

Eleven Wonders could not provide answers to the early attacks of the hosts, forcing many of their players to track back into defending.

Hearts of Oak playing a makeshift midfield with Defender William Dankyi playing in a deep holding midfield, Benjamin Afutu and Frederick Ansah Botchway playing in front of him with Manaf Umar, Daniel Afriyie Banie, and Victor Aidoo all attacking.

Captain Fatawu Mohammed combined with Victor Aidoo on the right flank to produce a grounder cross which met the foot of Manaf Umar, who wasted no time in connecting a shot that deflected Goalkeeper John Moosie for the first goal in 11 minutes.

The rest of the first half became a battle of Tactics from Ignatius Osei Fosu and Kosta Papic.

Both teams dominated the midfield with no specific chances in the half .

After recess, the Phobians attacked again from the blast of the referees whistle, charging the defence of their opponents in all areas.

The efforts of the Rainbow club was rewarded when Striker Victor Aidoo released a grasscutting shot that swept pass the defence of Eleven Wonders to beat the Goalkeeper for the second goal of the evening with juet 3 minutes into the Second half

The rest of the 40 minutes of the game became more physical with Hearts of Oak playing to defend their goals, while Eleven Wonders deployed strategies to get some consolation goal, but Nuru Sulley who is returning from injury, and Mohammed Alhassan stood firm with support from Raddy Ovouka and Fatawu Mohammed at the flanks.

The win takes the Accra based side to 4th on the Ghana Premier league log going into match week 10 where they face Berekum Chelsea in Berekum Golden City Park.

Asante Kotoko on Sunday afternoon played a 1-1 draw with WAFA SC to earn a vital away point in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors, visited the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope today win the hope of picking all points at stake, in a matchday 9 fixture.

But WAFA SC commenced as the better side in the first half, displaying their usual passing game.

The Academy lads got rewarded with the first goal on the day courtesy a strike from danger man Daniel Lomotey.

The held on to finish the half 1-0.

After recess, the Asante Kotoko team worked hard in a bid to stage a comeback.

Fortunately for the team, their efforts paid off in the 62^nd minute when red-hot striker Kwame Opoku levelled.

Although the two teams put up a good fight from there on, neither side could get on the scoresheet again.

Today’s result sees Asante Kotoko stay ^7th position on the Ghana Premier League standings while WAFA SC occupies 6^th.

Kotoko will trek to Cape Coast to face Ebusua Dwarfs in an outstanding league fixture on Wednesday.

Ebusua Dwarfs came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Liberty Professionals on matchday 9 of the Ghana Premier League at the Carl Reinfolf Park on Saturday.

Abraham Wayo opened the scoring for the home team but two goals from Michael Asiamah and Moro Sumaila handed the visitors the maximum points.

Asante Kotoko interim trainer Johnson Smith has named a 19-man travelling squad for Sunday’s tricky tie against WAFA SC at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

The Reds handed debut call up to young goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim while Kwame Baah and Razak Abalora maintained their spots in the team.

Team captain, Felix Annan and midfielder Kwame Adom Frimpong could not make the trip.

However, there is a place for Emmanuel Sarkodie who been superb in his recent outings.

Long-term absentee Mudasiru Salifu who is yet to taste a premiership action this season after recovering from his injury made the list.

Asante Kotoko interim coach, Johnson Smith is confident of securing a favourable result against WAFA SC when the two sides lock horns on Sunday in a Ghana Premier League fixture.

Smith is optimistic of putting the breaks on the Academy lads at the dreaded Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

According to him, he has not lost against WAFA at the venue and that the fans of the Porcupine Warriors should not worry about them since he is in charge.

”I have never lost a game against WAFA in Sogakope,” the former Karela United tactician recounted in an interview aired on Kumasi-based Angel FM.

”So for WAFA, Kotoko should not worry because I am now in charge of the team going into this match. I now want to assure the fans that everything will be fine on Sunday,” he stated.

The Porcupine Warriors have not won away against WAFA in the top-flight and it would be great for their followers if Smith can break the jinx.

WAFA has so far amassed 13 points after 8 round of matches, one more than Kotoko who are on 12 points.

Ebusua Dwarfs fought back from a goal down to beat Liberty Professionals 2-1 in a match-day 9 battle of the Ghana Premier League.

Two goals, one in each half from Michael Asamoah and Moro Sumaila cancelled out Abraham Wayo’s 16th-minute goal for the home side to secure all three points for the visitors.

Liberty came into the game from a defeat to Kotoko on Monday, and they made their intentions clear early in the game.

After a few exchanges in the first quarter of the duel, the Scientific Soccer Lads opened the scoring through Abraham Wayo from the spot at the Carl Reindolf Park on Saturday.

But Dwarfs maintained their composure as the pushed for the equaliser. Liberty failed to hold on to the lead. In the 38th minute, Michael Asamoah levelled for the visitors with a nice header from a Martey free-kick.

The first half ended 1-1.

After recess, both sides produced a nice game but the action-packed encounter saw Ebusua Dwarfs snatching the winner in the 83rd minute by Moro Sumaila, his second of the season.

However, Ebusua Dwarfs were reduced to ten men after midfielder Simon Martey was shown a red card for a horrible tackle on the 86th minute.

The victory is Dwarfs’ second on the road in the ongoing Premier League.

Liberty will make a short trip to Dawu to face Dreams FC in match-day 10.

Dwarfs will play Asante Kotoko SC on Wednesday in their rescheduled fixture at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Head Coach of Hearts of Oak, Kosta Papic has maintained his 20-man squad for their Matchday 9 encounter against Techiman Eleven Wonders on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Key midfielders Nurudeen Abdul Aziz, Emmanuel Nettey and Lawali Mamane miss out once again even though they resumed training this week.

Kosta Papic is still fine-tuning his side as he demands consistency in the performance of his players.

Hearts of Oak will be looking to return to winning ways after drawing with Elmina Sharks on Matchday 8.
