Berekum Chelsea played out a goalless stalemate with Hearts Of Oak on matchday 10 of the Ghana Premier League at the Golden City Park on Saturday.

The game between Berekum Chelsea and Accra Hearts of Oak at the Berekum Golden City park ended scoreless.

Berekum Chelsea came into the game at the back of a 4-1 defeat to Karela and needed to make a statement, whiles Hearts of Oak came into the game at the back of a 2-0 victory against Eleven Wonders.

The first chance of the game fell to Benjamin Afutu in the 11th minute, he failed to connect perfectly to a cross from skipper Fatawu Mohammed.

Chelsea were presented with a huge opportunity in the 22nd minute, Paul Agyei Attah failed to put the ball at the back of the net after an howler by Richmond Ayi.

Berekum Chelsea continued to create chances in the first half, but were let down by poor finishing.

The second half of the game saw little chances being created by both sides, the football was mostly played in the middle, coupled with bad decision making in the final 3rd.

The only big chance of the half came in the dying embers of the game when an effort by Frederick Ansah Botchway was spilled by the goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekyere, Eric Dizan’s effort from the rebound was saved by the goalkeeper.

Referee Alfa Ba-Adey after 90 minutes and 3 minutes of time added on ended 0-0. Berekum Chelsea’s Ushau Abu was named man of the match.

Chelsea’s next game will be against King Faisal in Techiman, whiles Hearts of Oak will host regional rivals Great Olympics.

Great Olympics were held to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium by League leaders Karela United in this matchday 10 fixture of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The ‘dade boys’ were hoping to close in on the gap with a win against Karela United in this encounter.

The game started with both sides making early incursions but failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

Coach Yaw Preko made some tactical changes to his squad to improve his side’s chances upfront but Karela United were resolute in defence.

Karela United star Diawise Taylor was also kept at bay from causing any havoc by the Olympics defenders in the game.

Great Olympics star Gladson Awako was well marshalled in the game and the two key players for both sides failed to urge their sides to victory.

Coach Yaw Preko is yet to taste defeat since taking over the job from Coach Annor Walker in the ongoing season.

Hearts boss Kosta Papic makes one change to the team that beat Eleven Wonders 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday Evening, with Dominic Eshun replacing suspended Umar Manaf.

Accra Hearts of Oak seek to maintain their resurgence on Saturday, January 23, 2021 when they take on Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City park in Berekum in a Ghana Premier League match day 10 encounter.

The Phobians have not lost a game since their 2-0 defeat to Aduana Stars in Dormaa on match day one. Hearts of Oak seem to have improved in front of goal since the arrival of coach Kosta Papic, scoring 11 goals in their last four games and conceding three.

Experienced defender Nuru Sullery who got injured against Inter Allies in a match day three encounter returned to the side last week to play against Techiman Eleven Wonders. Left back William Dankyi has rediscovered his form and was adjudged player of the match against Eleven Wonders, playing in a deep lying midfield role.

Another player who seems very much awakened is Victor Aidoo. The former Sarmatex FC attacker, gave Hearts the equalizer in Elmina, against Sharks and also scored an absolute beauty on Sunday and has filled in very well for Kojo Obeng Junior who is back from injury.

Hearts of Oak will be missing the services of Abdul Manaf Umar who is suspended for the fixture. Umar has been involved in five goals in the premiership since the he broke into the team in November.

Michelle Sarpong is also not available for selection after picking an injury. Abdul Aziz Nurudeen, Emmanuel Nettey and Mamane Lawali remain out with injuries.

For Berekum Chelsea, their home form will be their weapon against the Phobians on Saturday. Their biggest problem is lack of goals as they remain one of the least scoring teams in the League with seven goals.

The Blues have won two and drawn two at home in the ongoing League but lack the cutting edge to finish games especially at the Golden city park.

Returnees, Edward Kpodo, Richard Kissi Boateng, Jordan Opoku and Emmanuel Clottey were members of the League winning squad in 2012.  But their contribution to the club in the League has been uninspiring as they have huffed and puffed in the campaign failing to inspire the younger ones.

Berekum Chelsea sit in 15^th place on the League log with 9 points, two points above the drop zone. Whiles Hearts sit in 5^th place with 15 points.

Legon Cities head coach, Bashir Hayford has heaped praises on his makeshift centre forwards after their 5-2 pummeling of high flying AshantiGold on Friday.

The Royals rallied from behind on two occasions to secure their second win in this campaign in a match-day 10 encounter against the Miners.

Nasiru Moro levelled for Hayford’s side after Yaw Annor has opened the scoring. Annor snatched his second on the day but Jonah Attuquaye pulled parity for the home side again.

Hayford’s side recorded their highest win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League and first time scoring more than one goal in a game.

Delighted Hayford said playing makeshift strikers is beginning to yield results despite the difficulties at the start.

“We played without a striker. I have converted the midfielders to strike for me and they are doing it very well. When we started, it was not working but now it is working.” He said in a post-match interview.

“It means they are learning. Because I told them that goal scoring is not about a striker, goal scoring is about the one who is closer to the post. Immediately you come closer to the post, whether you are a defender or not you have to score. That is what we have been doing at the training ground.” He added

Accra Great Olympics will lock horns with league leaders Karela United at the Accra Sports Stadium today.

Olympics are having a good campaign to remember and have enjoyed wins that are significant and difficult to forget.

Out six games played at the Accra Sports Stadium this season, the ‘Dadee’ lads have won four, lost 1 and drew 1. Which depicts a favourite ground for them.

The venue serves as home grounds for several clubs including Olympics who have played as an away side at the Stadium twice, winning all.

Karela although leads the table, they have not been convincing in their away games this season. However, they managed a draw during their last visit to Accra against Hearst of Oak.

The Red and Greens are yet to win any of their away games in the first quarter. Two draws, and two defeats, conceding seven goals in the process. Which sum up a struggle in the away games.

Head Coach Evans Addotey would want to break their away jinx against the Blue and Whites.

Great Olympics will move tie with Karela on the same points(17 points) in case they win today’s encounter.
