The Premier league once again brought us some exciting games. Legon Cities thrashed high-flying AshantiGold, Kotoko were shocked at home by Aduana Stars, whiles Hearts of Oak picked a point in Berekum.

We take a look at how things unfolded in all nine (9) games:

LEGON CITIES 5-2 ASHANTIGOLD

Legon Cities recorded an emphatic victory against AshantiGold. The Miners opened the scoring in the 6th minute through Yaw Annor, he pounced on an error by Fatau Dauda and slotted the ball into an empty net. Minutes later, Legon Cities pulled parity through Nasiru Moro, he scored from a powerful drive from outside the box. AshantiGold regained the lead in the 31st minute, Yaw Annor was on target once again. The Miners failed to hold on to their lead into the break, Jonah Attuquaye scored in additional minutes of the first half to make it 2-2. Legon Cities came back from the break firing at all cylinders and took the lead for the first time in the game in the 49th minute, Baba Mahama the scorer this time. David Cudjoe scored twice in the 52nd and 62nd minute to make it 5-2. AshantiGold were awarded a penalty to reduce the deficit in the dying embers of the game but Yaw Annor failed to beat Fatau Dauda.

BEREKUM CHELSEA 0-0 HEARTS OF OAK

Berekum Chelsea and Hearts of Oak shared spoils at the Berekum Golden City park. Chelsea dominated the first half, but were let down by poor finishing. The second half of the game saw little chances being created by both sides, the football was mostly played in the middle, coupled with bad decision making in the final 3rd. The only big chance of the half came in the dying embers of the game when an effort by Frederick Ansah Botchway was spilled by goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekyere, Eric Dizan’s effort from the rebound was saved by the goalkeeper.

GREAT OLYMPICS 0-0 KARELA UNITED

The game between Olympics and Karela at the Nations Wembley ended scoreless. The first half of the game ended scoreless, Diawisie Taylor came the closest to scoring, his effort in the early minutes of the game grazed the crossbar. Both teams returned after recess more determined to break the deadlock, Olympics saw more of the ball cut it was Diawisie who almost stole the show in the 78th minute, he took charge of the ball in the box and dashed past two defenders before releasing a shot which narrowly missed the target.

DREAMS 4-1 LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS

Dreams FC compounded Liberty’s wounds as they defeated them 4-1 in Dawu. Agyenim Boateng opened the scoring for Dreams in the 36th minute. Joseph Esso made it 2-0 from the spot in the 40th minute. Minutes later, Liberty were also awarded a spot kick, Daniel Antwi stepped up and converted the penalty to make it 2-1. Dreams regained their 2 goal advantage in the 72nd minute, Agyenim Boateng with his second on the day. Joseph Esso killed the game off in the 90th minute with a well taken penalty.

MEDEAMA 2-1 INTER ALLIES

A brace from Abass Mohammed condemned Inter Allies to their 7th defeat of the season. After a scoreless first half, Abass Mohammed opened the scoring for Medeama in the 51st minute with a fine strike. He scored again in the 64th to make it 2-0, before Suleman Nafiu scored in the 71st minute to reduce the deficit. Despite late pressure from Inter Allies in the final minutes of the game, Medeama held on to secure three points.

EBUSUA DWARFS 1-1 WAFA

Ebusua Dwarfs and WAFA shared spoils at the Cape Coast sports stadium. WAFA took the lead in the 16th minute through Daniel Owusu, he collected a pass from Samed Abdul Karim and beautifully slotted it at the left side of the goalkeeper. Dwarfs leveled the score in the 51st minute through a well taken free kick by Albert Hammond at the edge of the box. Both sides from then pushed men forward hoping to get the winner, but to no avail. The game ended 1-1.

ELMINA SHARKS 2-1 BECHEM UNITED

A late Ishmael Hammond penalty handed Elmina Sharks a 2-1 victory against Bechem United. After a boring 85 minutes of the game, the first goal of the day came in the 85th minute, Tahir Musah scored to give Elmina Sharks the lead after 85 minutes. Behem United pulled parity from the spot in the 90th minute, skipper Moro Salifu the goal scorer. The fearsome Sharks were awarded a controversial spot kick in the last minute of additional time, Ishmael Hammond slotted it home to hand his side their 3rd win of the season.

ELEVEN WONDERS 1-0 KING FAISAL

King Faisal’s winless run extended to 7 games as they lost 1-0 to Eleven Wonders. The first half of the game ended scoreless, with both sides failing to great any big opportunity. The second half continued like the first. Coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu brought on Salifu Ibrahim and Prince Okraku, the duo combined in the dying minutes of the game to give Eleven Wonders a 1-0 victory. A crossing from Salifu Ibrahim was headed into the net by Prince Okraku.

KOTOKO 0-1 ADUANA STARS

A second half strike from Samuel Bioh handed Aduana Stars a 1-0 victory against Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium. The first half of the game was evenly contested and ended scoreless. Kotoko came close in the opening minutes of the second half through Emmanuel Gyamfi, Latif Anabila and Fabio Gama. Despite controlling the game, the Porcupine Warriors found themselves a goal down in the 75th minute, Samuel Bioh scored with a powerful drive inside the 18-yard-box to give Aduana a surprise lead. Despite late pressure from Kotoko in the final minutes of the game, Aduana held on to win 1-0.

The Ghanaian top-flight continued with match-day 10 fixtures at the various venue over the weekend.

Legon Cities moved away from the relegation zone after trouncing AshantiGold 5-2 in Accra. It is the Royals second win in the campaign.

Dreams FC walloped visiting Liberty Professionals 4-1 at the Theatre of Dreams at Dawu.

At the Golden City Park, Hearts Of Osk played out a goalless stalemate with Berekum Chelsea.

Kotoko were stunned 1-0 by visiting Aduana Stars in the late kickoff at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Samuel Bio strike in the 73rd minute secured a slim win for Aduana Stars against Asante Kotoko in this matchday 10 fixture played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko suffered their first defeat at home and also missed the chance to go on top of the league table.

In the second minute of play Kwame Opoku went after a loose ball against the Aduana Stars goalkeeper and was impeded by the defender but referee ignored calls for a penalty.

Yahaya Mohammed had the first shot on target but his effort was saved by Razak Abalora

Patrick Asmah became the first causality in the game for the homeside as he was substituted after picking up an injury in the 13^th minute.

He was replaced by Emmanuel Gyamfi

Fabio Gama was booked in the 33^rdminute after a silly challenge on Aduana Stars midfielder Emmanuel Akuoko.

Kotoko’s Emmanuel Nettey kept tormenting the Aduana defense and won a free kick for his side in the 40^th minute but Fabio Gama failed to direct the ball into the net from 42 yards

Asante Kotoko were appealing for a penalty in the 41^st minute after Nettey’s shot was blocked by Tijani which they claimed it was a hand ball but referee ignored the calls for play to continue.

The first half ended goalless with both sides failing to put the ball at the back of the net.

Fabio Gama had a chance to score but his effort went off target in the 59^thminute

Naby Keita’s first shot on target after coming in was saved by Joseph Addo in the 72^nd minute.

Samuel Bio broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute with a sweet strike as Aduana Stars took the lead.

Aduana Stars held on to the lead to record their first away win of the season.

Striker Mohammed Abass netted a brace on Sunday afternoon to hand Medeama SC a 2-1 win against Inter Allies FC in the Ghana Premier League.

The two teams were in action at the Tarkwa Akoon Park this afternoon for a clash on matchday 10 of the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.

Playing as the home team, Medeama SC put up a good show in the first half but could not find the back of the net against the well-organized Inter Allies FC side.

After recess, an increased tempo in the play of Medeama SC immediately paid off with Mohammed Abass opening the scoring for the team in the 51^st minute.

Later on the in the 64^th minute, the striker made good use of a chance to score again to complete his brace while doubling the lead for his team.

Although Inter Allies FC will net a consolation through a strike from Nafiu Sulemana, it was not enough with Medeama SC bagging all three points at the end of the 90 minutes on the back of a 2-1 win.

Dreams FC showed massive improvement in their 4-1 victory against Liberty Professionals on Matchday 10 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Dreams FC have failed to maintain their high standards despite signing some high-profile players prior to the campaign.

The Still Believe lads have picked only two wins in nine outings hence the club treated their Week 10 encounter against fellow strugglers Liberty Professionals as a path to redemption.

The Dawu-based outfit indeed had the best start in the game, going ahead through Agyanim Boateng Mensah in the 37th minute.

Joseph Esso, who’s one of the high-profile signings, delivered a telling blow to the visitors after slotting home his side’s second goal from 12 yards on the 40th minute mark.

The lead was however slashed four minutes later courtesy a superb goal by Daniel Antwi.

Dreams FC returned from the break with much desire to bury the game as they piled pressure on the visitors.

Their incessant display yielded after Agyanim Boateng fired home his second of the afternoon in the 73rd minute.

His striking partner Esso followed in the same fashion as the first half by hitting the back of the twine in the 89th minute.

The victory have elevated Dreams FC to 12th on the standings with 13 points.

Liberty Professionals have failed to pick a point in their last three games.

The Scientific Soccer boys occupy 15th position with 10 points from 10 matches.

Eleven Wonders FC needed a very late goal to overcome King Faisal Babes at the Ohene Ameyaw park on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.

A strike by Prince Okraku in the dying minutes earned Wonders a vital 1-0 win.

Faisal have now gone seven matches without a victory and it’s a first defeat for new coach Nana Andy Sinason after four games in charge.

The home team had three changes to their squad by head coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu as first choice goalkeeper John Moosie didn’t make the match squad for the first time this season.

George Ameyaw was the preferred choice to man the goalposts.

McCarthy Ofori and Frank Amankwah also paved way for Adu Boahen and Razaq Jafar.

Ollenu Ashittey returned from injury to earn a starting place as he replaced top marksman Salifu Ibrahim.

Faisal coach Andy Sinason made three changes to the team that started against Elmina Sharks last week.

Kwadwo Frimpong, Frank Manu and Samuel Kusi were handed starts.

Adams Jabal maintained his place in the goalposts with talisman Kwame Peprah starting from bench.

The first half of the encounter ended scoreless with both sides failing to find the back of the net the few opportunities that came their way.

Substitute Okraku left it very late to hand all points to Osei-Fosu and his men as he netted the match winner in the 3rd minute of additional time breaking the hearts of Faisal.

Asante Kotoko Stop-gap coach Johnson Smith has named his starting line up to face Aduana Stars this evening.

The Porcupines will be hosting the Ogya Boys in matchweek 10 of the Ghana Premier League in the all-important fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium at 6:00 PM. A win for the Porcupines will put them on top of the league log for the first time this season.

Coach Smith has made one change in the team that narrowly beat Ebusua Dwarfs in midweek with Latif Anabila coming in for suspended Emmanuel Sarkodie.

Goalkeeper Razak Abalora has maintained his place in the sticks. He will be flanked by Samuel Frimpong and Imoro Ibrahim with Abdul Ganiu and Yusif Mubarik forming the backline.

Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama who has been impressive in his last three games has been handed another start in the attacking midfield position with Patrick Asmah and Christopher deploying as left and right-wingers respectively with Kwame Opoku ahead of them in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Hearts Of Oak head coach, Kosta Papic has blamed his players after their goalless draw away to Berekum Chelsea on match-day 10 of the Ghana Premier League.

According to Papic, his players did not show enough urgency of winning the game against Berekum Chelsea at the dreaded Golden City Park on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking after the game, Kosta Papic indicated although the poor nature of the pitch affected play, it seemed his charges were comfortable with a draw.

“Tactically we chanced how we play because of the grounds. But that is not the factor, it was like my players didn’t want to win this match. I don’t know what is happening but we must talk about it. We must think about it.

“Looks like they are very happy they played a draw. Which is not good, not correct. We are not like that. If you want to win the league this season, you have to win the matches and this is not the way. Like I said we are going to talk about it.

“The pitch was a problem. But it was a problem for us and a problem for them which is not any kind of excuse. I am not happy at all.” He said in a post-match interview.

Hearts Of Oak have temporarily moved to the second position on the league log.
