MANIFESTO BY CANDIDATE RICHARD.K ATIKPO FOR THE POSITION OF COUNCIL OF STATE MEMBER
I Richard K. Atikpo stand before you this day to offer myself for the position of Council of State Representative for the great people of Oti Region. The opportunity to serve my people is an opportunity I could not overlook. Service is at the apex of everything I do.
Having successfully built a business empire that directly employs over two thousand people all over the country and beyond, I want to extend the opportunities that have been presented to me to also benefit the people of the Oti Region.
In line with that, I intend to push for the execution of the following projects under the following thematic areas.
POLITICS
• Get the President to pay attention and act on the SALL/ GUAN district and constituency issues
• Help to resolve conflicts among the various ethnic and chieftaincy groups in the new region.
• Work in collaboration with the Assembly Members, MPs, Traditional Rulers and all Stakeholders as I seek to push our issues and concerns to the Presidency and the institutions that matters
EDUCATION
• I would push for and personally offer Scholarships for brilliant but needy students in collaboration with the District Assembly and MPs.
• Help provide education related infrastructure from Primary to Senior High School.
• I shall push and lobby for the establishment of a university in the region.
AGRICULTURE
• I would lobby and push for the establishment of various irrigation projects on the Oti River.
• I shall push for commercial Fish Farming on and along the Oti River
• I shall assist on finding solution to the premix problem that has confronted our fisher folks over the years.
• We shall position our region as the food basket of the country. Attention will be paid to cereals, leguminous, as well as tubers.
SPORTS
• I would strongly drive the Development of sports in the area especially football
• Establish a second division club team in the region to exploit the talent of the youth.
• As the proud owner of Legon Cities Football Club, young talent who make the grade would be considered for the Academy and the Senior Team.
INFRASTRUCTURE
• I would, together with the various District Assemblies lobby for the development of roads, hospitals and places of convenience in the region.
SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS
• I would personally push and lobby for the provision of clean water and the expansion of electrification projects in the region.
• I shall set up a motivation scheme for our Assembly Members to facilitate their work. It would be in the form of allowances and other logistical support.
BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
• Mentor and introduce young people into entrepreneurship especially agribusiness and other competitive business industries.
• We shall locate and develop tourism and hospitality industry.
YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT
• Provide artisanal support and training opportunities for the youth who want to learn a trade.
