WAFA SC returned to winning ways against visiting Karela United in a match-day 16 encounter of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The academy lads recorded an emphatic 3-1 win against the league leaders at the Sogakope WAFA Park in a mid-week duel.

Kwame Boateng broke the deadlock in the 14th minute with the first goal on the afternoon for Karela United.

WAFA star Augustine Boakye snatched the equalizer for the home side in the 20th-minute mark.

Andrews Ntim Manu scored in the 30th minute to put WAFA ahead in the contest and held on to end the first half.

Just after recess, WAFA were awarded a penalty by the referee but the Karela United goalkeeper Yaw Ansah kept his side in the game as he saved Ibrahim’s Abukari’s spot-kick.

WAFA dominated possession in the half but were cautious in throwing away the lead.

Lawrence Agyekum sealed the win for the academy lads late in injury time as WAFA clinched all three points.

WAFA has amassed 23 points following this win after match-day 16.

Striker Yahaya Mohammed was on target for Aduana Stars on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated Inter Allies FC 2-1 in the Ghana Premier League.

The Dormaa-based club returned to winning ways at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in a match-day 16 encounter after suffering 4-0 to AshantiGold over the weekend.

The fire boys open the scoring in the last minute of the first half through Yahaya Mohammed as they managed to dominate the visitors.

The second half produced an end to end action. Aduana went ahead 2-0 via an own goal from Emmanuel Adjetey.

Samuel Armah who recently joined the Eleven Is To One netted the consolation for Inter Allies FC in the 84th minute.

The defeat leaves Inter Allies bottom, five points from safety.

Super-sub Isaac Mensah once again produced magic for Hearts of Oak after climbing off the bench to score the winner against Liberty Professionals on Wednesday. 

The young forward took only six minutes to announce his presence on the pitch by slotting home from close range.

Liberty Professionals started the game strongly with forward Ernest Danso’s early effort going wide.

The Scientific Lads had the game under control in the early exchanges and winger Abraham Wayo came close to giving the hosts the lead but his effort was deflected away, before Simon Asamoah pulled a save from Hearts goalie Richard Attah.

The Phobians’ best effort in the half came when Emmanuel Nettey’s long range drive was calmly collected by Liberty goalkeeper Kofi Baah.

With just ten minutes to the break, Kweku Karikari and Abraham Wayo combined to create a great chance which the latter failed to pounce on.

Liberty coach David Ocloo quickly made two changes after the break with Satar Ahmed replacing Nii Laryea, and returnee Brite Andoh coming on for Ernest Danso.

Moments later, the Rainbow club nearly fetched the opener after Raddy Ovouka’s strike rattled the crossbar.

Match winner and super sub from the game against Dwarfs, Isaac Mensah was given another opportunity as he came on for Kwadjo Obeng Jnr.

Mensah took the opportunity by tapping home just six minutes after coming on to hand the Phobians an important lead.

Samuel Nii Noi threw his last substitute on after replacing Patrick Razak with Mitchele Sarpong as the clock tickled down.

The game ended with the Phobians recording back to back wins for the first time since the departure of Kosta Papic.

Hearts of Oak sit in 9^th place with 20 points, 8 behind Karela United who occupy the first spot with 28 points.
