Kotoko legend advises Felix Annan to leave the club

0

Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper George Owu has adviced current club captain Felix Annan to consider leaving the club as soon as possible since he is struggling to get playing time or will become rusty in sometime to come.

George Owu is a legendary goalkeeper who has played for Ghana’s various national teams and also featured for number of clubs in the country including Sekondi Hassacas, AshantiGold but was noted very well during his spell with the giants, Asante Kotoko.

Felix Annan has been struggling for starting spot at Kotoko off late having lost his position to Kwame Baah earlier in the 2019/20 campaign which was abrogated by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

However, he started as the club’s first choice in the ongoing season starting their opening two matches against Eleven Wonders and Berekum Chelsea- where he sustained an injury marking the genesis of once again losing the first spot to Razak Abalora who had joined not too long ago and has been at the bench since.

In spite of this, ex Kotoko goalkeeper tells the 26 year old to leave the club and seek for a new challenge elsewhere in order to help him rediscover his form back or he will become rusty if he continue to stay at the club. He told Kessben FM in Kumasi;

“If he is not getting playing time he can move to another club. That is better than staying at Kotoko and become rusty, which will not help. As a player, you have to be smart at a certain stage. You have to make a decision that will help your future looking at the situation.”

“Sometimes you can fight. But if you fight and still nothing changes, everything is the same it means you have to leave. When you are fighting and the chances are not coming then you have to go and find another club and play. When you another chance to perform the club will call you back.”

George Owu is regarded and rated really high by most Ghanaian football fans forming part of the Black Meteors squad for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and also the Black Stars team in the 2006 AFCON which was staged in Egypt.

Also, he was in post for the Porcupine Warriors when they lost the maiden edition of the CAF Confederations Cup to their bitters rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2004/05 season.

Hamza Obeng leaves Medeama, tipped to join Hearts Of Oak

0

Hamza Obeng has quit his assistant coach job at Medeama SC for what many believe to be an impending reunion with former boss Samuel Boadu.

It’s exactly 20 days since Boadu surprised the Tarkwa-based club with a resignation letter on his birthday. He has since taken up the head coach job at local giants Hearts of Oak.

When the young Boadu exited Medeama, he was strongly tipped to be immediately joined by his then trusted assistant for the Phobian project. But that has taken time in happening.

Boadu was replaced by Yaw Preko as new head coach for Medeama and he arrived with ex-national teammate Yaw Acheampong as an assistant, a decision which forced the young Hamza Obeng to drop to a second assistant coach role.

Fast forward  Tuesday, March 16, Hamza decided to call it quits with Medeama by tendering his resignation to the club’s management. He cited personal reasons for his decision.

Hamza Obeng – who is known for talent scouting – joined Medeama as assistant coach in December 2018 after a previously leading King Faisal in the Division One League.

His resignation – which takes immediate effect – clears the path for a reunion with Samuel Boadu who started his Hearts journey with a 4-0 thrashing of WAFA SC some in the Ghana Premier League.
