Aduana FC ended the year on a high note, reclaiming second place in the Ghana Premier League table with a commanding 4-1 victory over Dreams FC.

The team had recently experienced inconsistent form, but their strong performance on Sunday showed their determination to succeed.

Aduana started the game brightly, with Kelvin Obeng scoring the opening goal in the 37th minute. They maintained their lead throughout the first half, but Dreams FC fought back with an equaliser early in the second half.

The final 20 minutes of the game saw Aduana step up their game, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Bright Adjei scored three goals in quick succession, securing a comfortable victory for his team.

The win puts Aduana two points behind league leaders Samartex, setting up an exciting title race in the new year. Dreams FC, on the other hand, remain in the relegation zone, but they still have four outstanding games that could help them climb the table.

Real Tamale United suffered yet another home defeat in the Ghana Premier League as they lost to Great Olympics at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday.

Emmanuel Antwi’s solitary strike in the first half was enough to end Olympics’ six games winless streak as they claimed a 1-0 victory.

Antwi scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute, taking his tally in the season to five goals after 13 appearances. He was named man of the match.

Also, making a case for his inclusion in Ghana’s preliminary squad list for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The defeat takes RTU’s losing streak to five matches without a single point as they continue to labour in the league.

The Pride of the North are sitting in the relegation zone with just three points above the bottom-placed side Heart of Lions and are two points away from the safety places.

Olympics are 10th positioned on the league standings after the first round, having amassed 21 points from 16 matches with one in hand.

Nations FC handed Nsoatreman their second consecutive away defeat after they fought back from a goal down to claim a 4-1 victory on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

Nsotreman’s first half goal was cancelled by Nations new boy Bismark Gyasi on his debut start after recess before substitute Asamoah Boateng’s brace and Nafiu Sulemana’s stoppage time goal returned the hosts to winning ways.

Kassim Mingle handed new signings Abdul Karim and Bismark Oppong Gyasi their debut starts and his decision paid off.

Gyasi restored parity for Nations on 52 minutes after they fell behind in the first half. Asamoah Boateng climbed off the bench to put the host in front for the first time in the game. Boateng added his second in the 87th minute to make it 3-1 and Nafiu Sulemana sealed victory for Nations with his stoppage time strike.

Nations will be delighted their unbeaten home record is intact as they rise to 4th on the league standings level on 27 points with Nsoatreman but a place above the visitors.

Nsotreman will be disappointed they failed to cut Samartex’ lead atop the standings.

Hearts of Oak secured a crucial victory in their final game of the year, defeating Bechem United 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The win was a much-needed one for the Phobians, who had gone five games without a victory before Sunday’s match.

The game looked destined to end in a draw, with neither team able to find the back of the net for the majority of the match.

Hearts of Oak dominated proceedings, but were unable to convert their chances, including a missed penalty in the 94th minute by midfielder Ibrahim Salifu.

However, Salifu made amends just minutes later, setting up Martin Karikari to score the winning goal with virtually the last kick of the game.

The goal sparked wild celebrations among the Hearts of Oak faithful, who were relieved to see their team finally get the victory they had been searching for.

The win sees Hearts of Oak move up to ninth place in the league table, with plenty of work still to be done in the second half of the season if they are to mount a serious challenge for the title.

Bechem United, on the other hand, slip to seventh place, and will also be looking to improve their fortunes in the new year.
