Baba Nuhu maintained as Black Maidens Coach

Baba Nuhu Mallam will continue to hold his position as Coach of the female U-17 team, otherwise known as the Black Maidens.

The Pearl Pia Ladies Coach has been in office for the past one year – played two FIFA U-17 female World Cup qualifiers before the competition was suspended because of COVID-19.

Baba Nuhu is a GFA Coaching instructor was an assistant coach of the Maidens in 2018 when Ghana played at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Uruguay. He has been Black Maidens Head Coach since January 2020.

Karim Zito retained as Ghana U-20 Head Coach

Abdul Karim Zito has been retained as Head Coach of the Black Satellites.

The former Nsawam Cannery, Asante Kotoko and Ghana right back has been rewarded for his hard work after leading Ghana to two major titles during the first year of his tenure as Coach of the national U-20 team.

Karim Zito led the Satellites to win the 2020 WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations in Benin and the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.

He previously worked as Black Starlets and Black Meteors Coach.

Meanwhile, Accra Hearts of Oak head trainer Samuel Boadu has been appointed as Assistant Coach. The former Berekum Arsenal and Ghapoha midfielder has been moved from the national U-15 team to the U-20, the Black Satellites. Salifu Fatawu will also work as an Assistant Coach.

Kotoko star Fabio Gama reveals the toughest opponent he has faced in the Ghana Premier League so far

Brazilian midfielder and Kotoko talisman Fabio Gama has revealed that WAFA SC is the toughest opponent he has face in the ongoing Ghana Premier League. 

Asante Kotoko played a stalemate with the Academy boys in Sogakope at the Red Bull Arena in a highly-entertaining clash.

The nimble-footed playmaker has so far faced all teams in the topflight including arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, but has insisted that the Academy Boys were a tough nut to crack.

“The level of the Ghana Premier League is not bad. Asante Kotoko is the best team in Ghana and WAFA is the best opponent I have seen. They play good football,” Gama told Pure FM sports.

Fabio Gama has been the club’s brightest player despite a slow start to his career in Ghana.

The 28-year-old has netted twice and created two goals as the Reds climb to the summit of the table.

Brazilian import, Fabio Gama dos Santos has revealed that he signed for local giants, Asante Kotoko because it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. 

According to Gama, who is enjoying a good spell with the Porcupine Warriors, he signed for the record Ghana Premier League champions because everyone wants to play for them.

Gama joined the Porcupine Warriors at the start of the 2020/21 football season on a two-year deal.

His arrival was met with skepticism, with many asking why a Brazilian will opt for the Ghana Premier League.

“I signed for Asante Kotoko because it’s a big vlub everyone wants to play for,” Gama told Pure FM sports.

Following a slow start to his career in Ghana, the 28-year-old has finally settled in the Kotoko team and is currently the key man in the starting eleven.

Gama scored his debut goal in the 1-1 draw against Tecchiman Eleven Wonders and followed that with his second goal and assist against Bechem United.

Asante Kotoko star Fabio Gama has tipped former teammate Kwame Opoku to glitter at his new team in Algeria. 

Striker Kwame Opoku moved from the Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko to join Algerian giants USM Alger after an explosive half-a-season with the Porcupine Warriors.

The former Nkoranza Warriors talisman joined the Algerian outfit in a four-and-a-half-year deal early this month.

Opoku and Fabio Gama formed a good partnership at Kotoko, with the Brazilian serving the striker with one of the assists for his seven goals with the Reds.

“Kwame Opoku is a very good player. He will go far if he does the same he was doing at Asante Kotoko at his new club,” Gama told Pure Sports.

Gama’s tailored measured pass to Opoku for the opener against Liberty Professionals was his first assist in a Kotoko jersey, but the Brazilian reveals it’s something they practised at training.

“The pass I gave to Kwame Opoku resulted in a goal against Liberty Professionals was what we rehearse at training,” said the Brazilian.

The 28-year-old has since been impressive with Asante Kotoko, having scored twice and assisted twice.

He netted against Eleven Wonders and Bechem United.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez: ‘European Super League is not dead’

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has affirmed that the European Super League is not “dead” despite the recent calamitous collapse.

Twelve founder members of the breakaway competition confirmed that they had signed up to the Super League on Sunday evening, but 48 hours later, the Big Six Premier League clubs had announced their withdrawals from the tournament.

Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan followed suit the next day, but Perez has affirmed that the Super League is simply on “standby” despite condemnation from all corners of the game.

Speaking to El Larguero, the 74-year-old said: “If anyone thinks the Super League is dead, are they wrong? Absolutely.

“We’re going to keep working and what everyone thinks is for the best will emerge. The project is on standby. The Super League still exists.”

Perez has also claimed that without a European Super League, it would be “impossible” to sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Braut Haaland this summer.

Asante Kotoko’s Brazilian midfielder, Fabio Dos Santos Gama has indicated that he will not rule out the option of switching Nationality to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Brazilian import has been a household name in the Ghana Premier league since joining the Ghanaian giants prior to the start of the season.

According to him, switching Nationality is something that needs more time to think through before making any final decision.

In an interview with Pure FM in Kumasi, the 28-year-old player says he will consider talking with his family when the opportunity presents itself to switch Nationality to play for Ghana.

“why not eh… (but) it’s not an easy decision to make. you have to talk with your family. I can’t say No and I can’t say yes right now.

“It’s a decision that you have to think about very well” he added.

The former Brazil U-17 player has scored two goals for the Porcupine Warriors in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

Ghana FA bans and fines Wamanafo Mighty Royals CEO, Assistant Coach

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wamanafo Mighty Royals FC Daniel Asante and the Assistant Coach of the Club Stephen Gurah have both been fined GHC5000 and banned from all football related activities for the rest of the 2020/21 league season.

The two club officials were found to have misconducted themselves in the Division One League match between Wamanafo Mighty Royals and Bofoakwa Tano FC on March 28 at the Wamanafo Community park.

2020/21 Juvenile Football League to commence on May 7

The 2020/21 Juvenile football League will commence on the weekend of May, 7/8/9 2021.

The Ghana Football Association is set to launch the 2020/21 Juvenile Football league season.

The launch is scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the GFA Secretariat in Accra.

Juvenile football which is the backbone of every football nation has been dormant for some time now due to varied reasons – but the competition is expected to be revitalised in the coming days.

The Juvenile Committee is expected to come up with a well-structured programme and policy to bolster the management and revamping of juvenile football across the country.
