The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association has lifted the two-year ban on Techiman City FC, Berekum Arsenals FC, Okyeman Planners FC and New Edubiase FC from participating in the MTN FA Cup Competition.

The Appeals Committee considered the consolidated depositions of the four clubs and decided to uphold the decision of the Disciplinary Committee’s earlier ruling except the two-year ban on all four clubs from participating in the MTN FA Cup.

According to the Appeals Committee, “the onset and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic which led to the suspension of the League itself makes this 2-year ban unsupportive and unsustainable”.

However, all four Clubs shall pay a fine of GHc5,000 each as stated in the decision of the Disciplinary Committee in its decisions.

Leaders Tema Youth will lock horns with Okyeman Planners on match day 17 of the National Division One League.

The host ended the first round of the season without a loss and began the second round with a draw against Accra Young Wise on match day 16.

The Harbour Warriors have amassed 34 points after 16 matches in the League – scoring 23 goals and conceding 9 in the process. Evans Osei Wusu (6) and Daniel Appiah (4) have jointly scored 10 goals for the mauves in the on-going campaign and would push for more glory against Okyeman Planners on Sunday.

Five points separate the two teams – with Planners sitting in 4^th place with 29 points.

Abdul Rauf Salifu of Accra Lions FC leads the top scorers chart with 10 goals – and will lead the side into the game against strugglers Agbozume Weavers.

Oda Kotoku Royals will host Accra City Stars FC at the Oda town Park on Sunday, while Heart of Lions play host to Uncle T United Football Club.

Leaders Gold Stars have a test against Bekwai Youth Football Academy on match day 17 of the National Division One League.

The host, lie in 7^th in place in the Zone two table with 21 points – sixteen points behind Gold Stars who lead the table with 37 points. The Bibiani lads have scored a whopping 23 goals and sit pretty comfortable at the top with an immediate pursuit of Premier League football.

Second place Skyy FC host Pacific Heroes While New Edubiase United FC battle with Sekondi Hasaacas at the Gyamfi Park at Bekwai.

Prince Owusu of Gold Stars leads the top scorers chart with 12 goals, followed by Akesse Akesse of Nzema Kotoko who has netted 8 times this season.

Asokwa Deportivo will host Venomous Vipers at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium Friday.

The table toppers in Zone one keeps changing after every week and the story was not different on match day 16 when Steadfast FC leapfrogged Berekum Arsenal to move to the top of the table.

Steadfast FC beat Wamanafo Mighty Royals 2-1 at the Aliu Mahama Park while Arsenal lost narrowly to B.A United at the Coronation Park. The two teams are up against each other at this weekend. Arsenal have dropped to fourth place sitting behind Steadfast, Real Tamale United and Tano Bofoakwa after 16 matches in the Division One League.

The table top clash will pit two of the best teams against each other at the Golden City Park on Sunday. The second top scorer in the Zone Kofi Ansu Patrick has scored 10 goals for Berekum – with his colleagues scoring 6 in the 16 goals scored in the season. Arsenal have yet to lose at home and stand and would leverage on that to fight for the points.

Black Satellites star man Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has scored 7 goals in the season –two shy of team mate Alhassan Siisu (9). The duo have combined effectively to catapult their success thus far – and would have to get their A-game on to stand the test against the Gunners.

The Sunyani Coronation Park will host the clash between rivals Tano Bofoakwa and B.A United on Sunday.

They have an incredible history in Ghana football dating back to 1967 when they first played in the Ghanaian top flight.

Bofoakwa Tano are in search of their first Premier League appearance in 14 years and a win on Sunday will boost their confidence for the season.

Bofoakwa had been in Ghana’s top flight long before the professional era left them too weak to compete favorably at the highest level and years spent in lower-tier football have worn it out some more.
