Ishmael Ganiyu’s late header salvaged a point for Kotoko as they were held in Sogakope by Liberty Professionals on matchday 25 of the Ghana Premier League. 

Liberty Professionals took a first half lead through former Kotoko defender Evans Owusu.

The Scientific Soccer Lads began the game in explosive fashion and should have taken the lead in the 20th minute but Prosper Ahiabu’s strike was blocked by the Kotoko defence.

Minutes later Maxwell Ansah had the chance to break the deadlock but his weak effort was calmly grabbed by Koyoko goalie Razak Abalora.

However, Abalora failed to grab a long range effort from Owusu eight minutes later to hand Liberty Ptofessionals the lead.

Kotoko midfielder Mudasiru Salifu then forced a save from the Liberty goalie, resulting into a corner which was wasted by the Reds as the referee whistled for half time.

After the break, Michael Laryea sent in a cross from the flanks but Razak Abalora was equal to the task.

Coach Mariano Baretto brought on Latif Anabila for Yusif Mubarik as the Porcupine Warriors chased an equaliser.

With six minutes left, forward Andy Kumi was brought down as Kotoko won a freekick, which was perfectly delivered onto the head of Ganiyu for the equaliser.

Andy Kumi came close to getting the winner but Liberty were resolute in defence, preventing any threat from the Reds.

Coach Samuel Boafu has named Hearts Of Oak starting XI for this evening’s Ghana Premier League fixture against Elmina Sharks.

The Phobians welcome the visitors in a matchday 25 battle at Accra Sports Stadium.

The game kicks off at 6pm.

Inter Allies gave continued their quest to exit the relegation zone in a grand style by posting a resounding 5-0 win over Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, 16 May 2021 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

The opening goal was registered just after two minutes into the duel when Alex Aso finished off coolly after being put through from midfield.

Aso kept his composure and dummied his marker before teleporting the ball past the Chelsea goalkeeper.

Allies doubled their lead a few minutes later, and it was Aso again who struck the back of the net.

Allies maintained their momentum and controlled the pace of the game.

After the hour mark, midfield gem Richmond Lamptey scored with a trademark long drive to give the hosts a three-goal lead.

Samuel Armah plugged in the fourth goal after 71 minutes to confirm Allies’ superiority over the visitors in the match.

Seven minutes from time, Nafiu Sulemana netted the fifth goal to complete the massive demolition exercise.

However, Inter Allies still will remain at the foot of the table with 23 points.

Asante Kotoko coach Mariano Barreto has named his starting XI to face relegation-stricken Liberty Professionals this afternoon at Sogakope.

The Porcupines will play as guests to the Scientific soccer lads at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope in match-day 25 of the Ghana Premier League at 3 PM local time.

Goalkeeper Razak Abalora was maintained in the posts.

Oprah, who missed the game against Dwarfs through injury has returned to the starting lineup.

But Emmanuel Gyamfi, whose brace secured a 2-1 for the Reds is out of the team.

The win has put the side in a position to challenge for the Premier League crown as another win over Medeama will put them within reach of their third title.

Hearts of Oak faces Elmina Sharks on Sunday in a match-day 25 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium

The game which is expected to be full of fireworks will kick off at 6 pm local time.

The Phobians will be looking forward to securing a second consecutive victory after they pipped Bechem 1-0 in mid-week at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park – their first win in 7 years.

Enterprising midfielder, Ibrahim Sslifu snatched the only goal on the day, ending the Hunters’ long home invincibility record.

Hearts are on excellent form and victory over the Sharks will strengthen their title chances. Hearts are currently on 40 points and sit on the second spot with a 4-point difference from Asante Kotoko – who are occupying the to spot. 

But coach Samuel Boadu’s side will again be without some of key players due to injury. Nurudeen is currently in a recovery state and Frederick Ansah Botchwey is still out due to a groin injury.

Samuel Boadu’s charges have lost one, drawn one and won two in their last four outings – heading into this game, they are buoyed by the rare win in Bechem.

Sharks are expected to provide a stiffer opposition as they continue their quest to beat the drop at the end of the season.

They have not been impressive on the road in the current campaign.

They have amassed four points from their three matches.

They won 2-1 against AshantiGold in match day 22 before falling to Inter Allies 2-0 in the following week.

They were held 1-1 at home by Karela United FC in match day 24.

They have 30 points seated 12th on the league table.

Elmina Sharks hosted the Phobians in the first round of the league with both teams scoring.

James Bissue found the net for Elmina Sharks whiles a beautiful header from Victor Aidoo from a Fatawu cross brought the phobians level to end the game 1–1.

West African Football Academy (WAFA) beat Legon Cities 1-0 in the Ghana Premier League matchday 25 in Sogakope on 15th May, 2021.

Justus Torsutey scored the only goal for The Academy Boys.
