Ebusua Dwarfs face Dreams FC on match day 25 of the Ghana Premier League at the Cape Coast stadium on Monday.

With the 2-1 loss to Asante Kotoko fresh in mind, the home side aim for a win to improve their standing in the League log.

They are only one point above the drop and anything short of victory will not be pleasing to ever demanding the home fans.

Ebusua Dwarfs have picked some impressive results on the road – but their home form has been nothing but disappointing. They have won four, drawn three and lost three in the on-going campaign. Their last home match against Legon Cities ended abruptly after fans of the clubs allegedly attacked the officials of the match. They trailed 1-0 at half time.

Coach Quartey has all his players available for selection as there are no suspensions or injuries in camp.

Dreams beat King Faisal Babes 3-0 in the midweek to rekindle their hopes of finishing within the top six places at the end of season.

They are currently occupying the 8th position in the league standings with 37 points.

Dreams FC have been unimpressive on the road, especially in the second round, after picking only one point in their last four away matches.

The Still Believe lads beat Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 in the reverse fixture.

Accra Hearts of Oak recorded their third straight win of the campaign after bringing down Elmina Sharks 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.

Striker squandered a penalty but the Phobians kept on and snatched two goals in the second half through Isaac Mensah and Benjamin Afutu Sackey to secure the necessary victory.

Hearts now remain second, two points adrift of Asante Kotoko.

Bottom placed Inter Allies annihilate Berekum Chelsea 5-0 at Dawu Park, while Karela United cruised to a 2-0 win over Eleven Wonders.

Asante Kotoko were held in a 1-1 draw with Liberty Professionals at Sogakope.

Hearts Of Oak close in on Kotoko with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Elmina Sharks.

STANDINGS

Hearts of Oak closed in on leaders Asante Kotoko after a 2-0 win over ten-man Elmina Sharks in Accra on Sunday night moved them back to second place.

The Phobians are now two points behind the Porcupine Warriors who dropped points in that 1-1 draw with Liberty Professionals in Sogakope.

Samuel Boadu’s charges had to recover from a first half penalty miss to pull the victory rag from under the feet of their opponents.

Three minutes before the half time whistle, Hearts were awarded a penalty after a Sharks defender Isaac Donkor handled a goal bound shot from Obeng Jnr.

Donkor was flashed the red card and Victor Aidoo had his spot kick saved by Martey as the teams retired into the tunnel goalless.

A horrendous kick by Sharks goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey came off substitute Isaac Mensah to give Hearts the opener in the 68th minute.

Martey made a hush of a back pass from right back Suraj Ibrahim who early on in the match picked up a yellow card.

The Phobians got an early corner after swamping pressure on Sharks and it was quickly taken by Salifu Ibrahim but Kwadwo Obeng Jnr headed wide.

Sharks popped up with a dangerous move but Raddy Ovouka, the Congo international, scurried back to cover his lines and made a clearance to prevent the visitors from causing havoc.

Ovouka took a shot at goal but missed the target narrowly.

Hearts sustained the pressure as Sharks could not adjust to their numerical weakness.

The Phobians doubled their lead in the 79th minute when Benjamin Afutu headed in a pass at the near post.

Raphael Essien was teed up from a short free kick taken from the edge of the box and his shot a goal found Afutu, who was left unmarked.

In injury time, Kingsley Braye went on a solo run and shrugged off several attacks but his shot at goal was wide.

AshantiGold SC recorded a hard fought victory over Great Olympics on Sunday at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi to get back to winning ways after slumping in their previous three games.

A penalty goal in the second half of the game made the difference putting a dent on Olympics’ title fight.

Assistant coach Thomas Duah made three changes to the squad that lost 3-1 to Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday.

Samed Ibrahim, Amos Addai and Gordon Kusi Brokelyn came into the lineup in place of Richard Osei Agyemang, Seth Osei and Yaw Annor respectively.

Nathaniel Asamoah was introduced in the second half to make his official debut in the Gold and Black shirt.

Olympics coach Annor Walker also made four alterations to the team that lost 3-2 to Aduana Stars last Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Benjamin Asare returned to man the goalposts replacing Stephen Kwaku.

Ebenezer Sekyere, Kwabena Boateng and Eric Osei Bonsu earned starting places as replacements to James Akaminko, Thomas Darlington and Daniel Amuzu.

AshantiGold with a total dominance in the first half but failed to make good use of the advantage.

Midfielder Eric Esso tried to score from long distance but his efforts went wide.

The hosts got the breakthrough ten minutes after recess through a penalty kick which was converted by midfielder Stephen Owusu Banahene.

Olympics came stronger after conceding the goal but all their efforts towards goal proved futile as AshantiGold claimed all three points to cushion them on the standings.

AshantiGold have moved up one place on the log to the 9th position with the hard fought victory and will be traveling to Tarkwa to face Medeama SC in the next game.

Olympics missed the chance to close in on leaders Asante Kotoko SC with the narrow. The Dade Boys have recorded back-to-back defeats for the second time this campaign.

King Faisal are out of the relegation zone after an impressive performance secured them a 3-1 victory over Bechem United in Techiman on Sunday afternoon.

Two goals in the first seven minutes by Ibrahim Zubairu stunned Bechem United as the Isha Allah boys cruised to a comfortable victory.

Steven Owusu reduced the deficit for the visitors midway through the first half.

With about three minutes to end the first half, the Hinters nearly pulled parity but their effort was cleared off on the goal line.

Kwame Peprah sealed the win in the second half for Faisal who needed the victory at all course.

King Faisal are currently safe as they lie 15th despite having the same points as Legon Cities who are 16th.

The Accra-based club though have an outstanding game against Dwarfs.

Bechem have extended their losing run to three games.

Karela United cruised to a comfortable victory at the Crosby Awauh Park after dispatching Techiman Eleven Wonders 2-0 on matchday 25 of the Ghana Premier League. 

Goals from Diawisie Taylor and Bismark Oppong at either side of half time ensured the Anyinase boys secured all three points.

Hosts Karela United started the game brightly and dominated the early exchanges but were forced into a quick substitution after Kwaku Osei was replaced by Prosper Avor.

Few minutes after the change, Diawisie Taylor broke the deadlock with his 14th goal of the campaign to send Karela into the break with a deserving lead.

Karela United returned from recess eager to add to their first half goal, and just three minutes into the second half Bismark Oppong doubled the lead.

With a 2-0 lead, Karela United controlled and dominated the game.

Coavh Evans Adotey made two quick changes with five minutes left, bringing on Evans Sarfo and Sadiq Alhassan for Maxwell Boakye and Reindorf Antwi respectively.

The victory is the second on a row at the CAM Park for Karela United since the start of the second round.

Medeama have dropped out of the top four after a stuttering 2-0 defeat at Aduana Stars on Sunday.

First half goals from winger Samuel Bioh and midfielder Sam Adams at Dorma Ahenkro ensured the home side moved a point within their opponents on the table.

Bioh opened the scoring as early as the 9th minute after beating goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi.

Antwi, who was making a return to the starting for the first time since suffering an injury in the 1-0 defeat at Great Olympics, was shown the yellow card after impeding Sam Adams leading to a penalty.

Adams elected himself for the kick and beautifully slotted to give the Asare Bediako’s side the massive cushion.

Medeama coach Yaw Preko made two changes to the squad that lost 2-1 at home to West African Football Academy.

Winger Zakaria Mumuni replaced Amed Toure while goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi took over from Frank Acheampong.

However, the visitors struggled in the first department of the game – allowing Farouk Adams to control the Aduana Stars defence with aplomb.

The early goals unsettled the Tarkwa-based side as they lost for the second successive time for the first time this season.

Medeama’s second dominance was not enough as their poor away record at the Nana Agyemang Badu park continued unabated.

The two-time FA Cup winners have managed just a draw in several travels to the same venue and will now require some revival in their push for their first Premier League crown.

They have now slipped to 5th on the table on 40 point, one less than Karela United, who have now moved to fourth on the table.

It’s been a spectacular poor form for Medeama since their barren draw at Liberty Professionals.

Their 2-1 defeat at home to WAFA has sparked a wave of uncertainty in the team with their second defeat compounding misery for the side.

Medeama now trail leaders Asante Kotoko by five points with nine games to end the season.
