Unknown assailants have murdered a Ghanaian football administrator in the Eastern region, according to a publication by the Eastern Region Football Association.
Fredrick Ohene Gyan, President of Eastern Region based club Kwamekrom Bright Stars FC, was stabbed to death in midnight of Saturday at his own residence in Eastern region.
According to the scanty details the young football administrator, who had laid numerous plans in place to make Bright Stars FC an attractive enterprise, was stabbed repeatedly with a knife and left in a pool of blood.
Bright Stars FC was bankrolled by Frederick Ohene Gyan, who was murdered on Saturday night
However the killers, who were initially thought to be armed robbers failed to make away with any valuable from his house.
Black Stars Coach Charles Akonnor has decided to expand his squad due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and injuries to some key members of the team. Spain based defender Joseph Aidoo has been drafted into the team for the World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.
The Celta Vigo man who hasn’t been in the team since the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan comes in to shore up options at the back due to the possible absence of defender Daniel Amartey for the clash in Johannesburg.
Ghana is likely to lose five players ahead of the second game in South Africa following the decision of Premier League clubs not to release players for matches in COVID-19 red-list countries during the September International window.
This means Daniel Amartey (Leicester City), Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace), Tariqe Fosu-Henry (Brentford FC), Baba Abdul Rahman (Reading FC) and Andrew Yiadom (Reading FC) will not travel with the team to South Africa for Ghana’s Group G encounter on Monday September 3. Aside Aidoo, Coach C.K Akonnor has also handed a call up to Yaw Yeboah of Wisła Kraków of Poland.
As part of the continuous assessment of Europe based Ghanaian prospects, two Germany based players Braydon Manu and Daniel Kofi Kyereh have also earned call ups. Kyereh, a 25-year old forward, plays for FC St. Pauli in the German second tier. He previously played for Eintracht Braunschweig and VfL Wolfsburg. While Braydon Manu features for Darmstadt 98. The two players were recommended by Technical Director Bernhard Lippert.
The Black Stars will open camp in Cape Coast on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 and play Ethiopia on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 7pm.
Accra Hearts of Oak have made an official announcement via a Facebook post that some of their players and technical men have been tested positive for the Covid.
The statement added that the team will undertake a second test ahead of their CAF Champions League game against CI Kamsar.
“The management of Accra Hearts of Oak is hereby notifying the club’s fan base and the general public that having carried out mandatory testing of its players and officials for COVID-19, a few of the members tested positive for the virus. Those affected are currently in isolation, though they are all asymptomatic and in good spirit. We want to assure our supporters that this development will not hamper our preparation for the CAF Champions League. All the players and officials will be retested and even more stringent measures put in place to ensure no further spread of the virus. We will once again take this opportunity to encourage everybody to observe the associated protocols at all times, as we continue to adjust to life with this deadly virus.”

Hearts of Oak are 15 days away from the first leg encounter set to come off in Guinea on September 12, before the second leg in two weeks time at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have confirmed some of their players and officials have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Phobians have been undergoing the mandatory test ahead of their CAF Champions League first-leg tie against Guinean club CI Kamsar.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) requires officials and playing taking part in CAF interclub competition must produce negative test results in order to play in either the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup.
Hearts confirmed via their social media handles that a ‘few’ of their players and officials have tested positive for the virus and those affected are currently under isolation.

Ghana will be without enterprising midfielder, Kudus Mohammed for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as the Ajax man has been ruled out of action for three weeks.
The 21-year-old will not be available for the said period after sustaining a fresh injury, according to his club Ajax Amsterdam.
The talented midfielder sustained an ankle injury during Ajax pre-season friendly against Anderlecht.
The latest update from Ajax indicates that the midfielder will not be available for both club and country after missing out on training since the incident. He is yet to recover from the injury.
This means that Kudus Mohammed will not be available for the Black Stars upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia in Cape Coast and South Africa in Johannesburg next month.
Kudus Mohammed was part of the 30-man squad called by Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor for the two matches.
In-form new Ghana striker Kelvin Yeboah is on the verge of snubbing the Black Stars to play for the junior national team of Italy after he was named in the European country’s U21 squad on Friday.
The 21-year-old, who was born in Accra and the nephew of Ghana legend Anthony Yeboah, was last week named in the Ghana squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia next month.
It was his first call-up to the Black Stars squad as part of the new generation of players being injected into the Ghana national team by coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor.
However, the striker was handed a call up by the Italy U-21 national team coach Paolo Nicolato.
This means the Italians have spoken to the striker about his availability for the Italian U21, knowing that he had already been called by the Black Stars.
Coach Paolo Nicolato included the Ghana-born to his team for the games against Luxemburg and Montenegro for the international break.
The list released by the manager on the Italian football federation website has the Ghanaian named among the attackers.
The latest development means the Sturm Graz attacker will have to make a decision between Ghana and Italy.
With the Italian calling him one week after Ghana named their squad it is most likely that Yeboah has taken the decision to play for the Europeans instead of the Ghanaians.
The Italians will qualify for the 2023 European Under-21 Championship against Montenegro and Luxembourg.
Yeboah’s uncle, Anthony Yeboah, played for the Ghanaian national team and scored 26 goals in 59 games.
Astute Sports Journalist, Mr Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi paid a visit to the National Women’s Deaf Football Team to donate some items and an undisclosed amount of money to them in Bechem in the Bono Region.
Oti-Asirifi, who is a disability advocate and the head of the disability unit at Takoradi Technical University trekked from Takoradi to Bechem on Friday, August 27, 2021, to familiarize himself with their camp conditions after which he did the presentation to them.
Items donated include 10 bags of sachet water, 5 crates of eggs, and a football.
The team is dominated by students of Bechem School for the Deaf, and they are currently camped at the school dormitory
They are 24 in number with three officials. They have three balls and 10 improvised cones for training.
They are fed by the headmistress of the school on humanitarian grounds.
The team is preparing for African Deaflympics in Kenya later this year which is also a qualification for World Deaflympics in Brazil 2022.

Ghanaian international, Baba Abdul Rahman has switched a loan to English Championship side Reading FC.
The defender joined English giants Chelsea in 2015 but have struggled to get maintained in their first team since joining them.
On the back of several loan spells, Baba Rahman has this summer been sent on a similar one.
After fruitful talks, Reading FC have today announced the acquisition of the Ghana left-back on a season-long loan.
“We are very pleased to confirm that left-back Baba Rahman has joined Reading Football Club on a season-long loan from Chelsea, subject to the normal ratification procedures from the relevant football authorities.
“The 27-year-old has represented the Blues in the Premier League and Champions League, as well as bringing with him top-flight experience in Germany, France, Spain and Greece – and now embarks on a new challenge in Berkshire as a Royal!,” an official statement on the website of the club has said.
Baba Rahman in the past has spent loan spells at Schalke, Stade Reims, RCD Mallorca, as well as PAOK FC.
