Asante Kotoko confirm the signing of sensational young forward Samuel Boateng

Asante Kotoko has secured the services of highly-rated forward, Samuel Boateng in the ongoing transfer window.

Boateng joins the Ghanaian powerhouse from Future Stars Football Club, who has just qualified to play in the 2021/22 Division One League.

Boateng – a skilled goal-scorer was officially announced as the new addition to the Reds squad in a three-year deal on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

He bagged 16 goals in the just ended Division Two league and helped his club, Future Stars to gain Division One status.

Asante Kotoko are currently busy on the transfer market for strategic signings after the acquisition of former Inter Allies midfielder Richmond Lamptey and Maxwell Agyemang of Wamanfo Mighty Royals FC.

They have also announced the acquisition of Phar Rangers 16-year-old winger Clinton ‘Messi’ Opoku – who trained with the club on Monday afternoon at the Adako Jachie complex.

Hearts Of Oak to get automatic qualification over banned WAC of Morocco

Ghana’s Accra Hearts of Oak could get automatic qualification over Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) Casablanca following a FIFA ban imposed on the Moroccan club from participating in this year’s CAF Champions League.

WAC were slapped with a transfer ban by FIFA, which was later upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for failing to pay Nigerian international, Chisom Elvis Chikatara, a total sum of $187,250.33 before December 31, 2020.

The amount comprises a judgement sum of $165,167, in addition to a five per cent interest accruing from April 7, 2019 to April 7, 2021 and a cost of 3,000 Swiss Francs ordered by CAS.

According to a letter issued by the player’s solicitors, Activity Chambers, and signed by the Head of Sports Law (Africa), Johnny Precious Ogbah, to the Head of the Club Licensing Department of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation on July 29, 2021, the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber ruled in favour of their client on March 7, 2019 and also awarded the cost of $165,167 against WAC.

“This was to be paid within 30 days. The decision further stated that in the event that the aforementioned amounts are not paid by the Respondent within the stated time limit, interest at the rate of 5% p.a. will fall due as of the expiry date,” it explained.

However, a separate letter signed by Johnny Precious Ogbah to the President of Hearts of Oak dated September 20, 2021, stated that WAC were ineligible to participate in the 2021/2022 CAF Champions League after failing to meet a CAF deadline of August 15, 2021 in connection with the payment of the overdue payables owed Chikatara.

“We write to inform you that your opponents in the next round of the CAF Champions League, WAC of Morocco, are ineligible to participate in the CAF Champions League 2021/2022.

“This is because vide a petition dated July 29, 2021, we informed the CAF of their ineligibility as they owed our clients overdue payables and after investigation, CAF gave them a deadline of August 15, 2021, to pay the overdue payables they owed our client.

Ghanaian heavyweight Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of talented youngster Clinton Opoku.

The Porcupine Warriors completed the signing of the 18-year-old attacking midfielder on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 on a four-year deal.

Opoku joins Kotoko from Phar Rangers – a side that withdrew from the 2021/22 Division One League.

The talented youngster was instrumental for Phar Rangers and was rated among the best wingers in Ghana’s second-tier league before his club decided to withdraw from all competitions organized by the Ghana Football Association.

Opoku, popularly known as ‘Asuom Messi’ was on Monday spotted at the training grounds of Asante Kotoko when the team commenced their preseason ahead of the 2021/22 football season.

He joined Phar Rangers from Eastern Region based second division side Kwaebibirem United FC.

He has become the club’s third signing after they acquired the services of former Inter Allies midfielder Richmond Lamptey and Maxwell Agyemang of Wamanfo Mighty Royals FC.

The two-time CAF Champions League winners are tipped to sign highly-rated striker Stephen Amankona of Berekum Chelsea. Multiple reports indicate that Kotoko have reached $35,000 deal with the hierarchy of the Bibiries.

Three players each from AshantiGold and Inter Allies have been officially charged in relation to investigations into the suspected manipulation of a Ghana Premier League match between the two clubs which ended 7-0 on July 17, 2021.

The GFA has been probing the controversial final day fixture of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League at Len Clay Stadium which saw Allies defender Hashmin Musah ridiculously scoring two own goals and later claiming he did so to spoil the opponent’s arranged scoreline for betting.

The six players, in all, have been charged on various counts of misconduct for facilitating and participating in a match of convenience, according to the GFA Prosecutor.

Midfielder Richmond Lamptey, who recently crossed carpets from Inter Allies to Asante Kotoko, defender Hashmin Musah and goalkeeper Danso Wiredu Mensah are the players from the ‘Eleven Is To One’ camp charged.

From the Miners’ camp are striker and new FK Partizan Belgrade Isaac Opoku Agyemang, midfielder Seth Osei and defender Samed Mohammed.

All the players are expected to submit their Statements of Defence to the charges on or before Friday, September 24 after which the GFA Disciplinary Committee will adjudicate their cases respectively.

Isaac Opoku Agyemang – Article 34(5)(a) of the GFA Premier League regulations,

Seth Osei (1) – Article 34(5)(a) of the GFA Premier League Regulation

Samed Mohammed (3) – Article 12(1)(b) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, Article 34(6)(d) and Article 34(5)(a) of the GFA Premier League regulations.

The officials

Early on, both clubs were hit with misconduct charges following which Dr. Kwaku Frimpong and son Emmanuel – who serve as the President and CEO of AshantiGold respectively – were also charged on three counts of misconduct for match manipulation.

A GFA publication Monday cited the two for breaches of the GFA Code of Ethics, Disciplinary Code and the Premier League regulations.

The GFA is expecting to receive their Statements of Defence to the charges by close of work Wednesday, September 22.

The GFA Prosecutor has also charged the Head Coach of Inter Allies FC Felix Aboagye, Team Manager of Inter Allies FC Ruben Adjetey and a Club Official Joseph Boye Markwei for violating Article 11(2)(d) of the GFA Disciplinary Code and Article 34(5)(a) of the GFA Premier League regulations.

The Allies trio are also expected to submit their Statements of Defence to the charges on or before Friday, September 24 after which the GFA Disciplinary Committee will adjudicate their cases respectively.

Highly-rated Ghanaian youngster Augustine Boakye scores on his Wolfsberger AC debut in the Austrian Cup on Tuesday evening against ASV Siegendorf.

The former West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC graduate came on as a second half substitute and wasted no time in announcing his presence in Austria.

The visitors scored four times under the half hour mark before the home team got a consolation goal four minutes after the hour mark.

The 20-year-old Ghanaian prodigy scored his side’s fifth goal after coming on before Cheikou Dieng made it 6-1 from the spot three minutes to full time.

Boakye joined the Austrian Típico Bundesliga team this summer after a dazzling display in the Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season.

Hearts of Oak release press statement on Gladson Awako’s exit talks

Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak have released a press statement to address Gladson Awako’s situation at the club.

Prior to Hearts of Oak’s CAF Champions League game against Kamsar, reports went rife that Gladson Awako who joined the club less than a month ago from Great Olympics for a fee reported to be around $15,000 is eager to quit the club due to spiritual attacks he’s facing since his arrival to the club.

The reports further indicated that the representatives of Awako have asked Great Olympics to refund the transfer fee in order for his contract with Hearts of Oak to be terminated.

However, Hearts of Oak have in a press statement debunked those reports. Stating that Awako is experiencing some personal problems and is expected to rejoin his colleagues whiles he sort those problems out.

“Our recent signing, Gladson Awako, has experienced some personal difficulties that have prevented him from playing football and starting for Hearts of Oak so far. The club expects him to sort out those difficulties soon, so that he can rejoin his colleagues and resume playing football,” the press statement read.

Meanwhile, agent of Awako, Yusif Chibsah has disclosed that Awako has asked for permission to hold personal training. However, his future at the club is uncertain and they will meet the club to discuss the way forward.

I want to make Kotoko the best club in the world – Prosper Narteh Ogum

Newly-appointed Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Ogum Narteh has set audacious task of making the club the best on the globe after his tenure.

The 44-year-old was officially announced as Kotoko’s coach on Sunday, September 19, 2021, following the club’s decision to mutually terminate the contract with Portuguese gaffer Mariano Baretto just after some five months.

Although, Ogum is yet to play his first game with the Reds, he promised in his first-ever interview after sealing a two-year deal that he wants to make them the best in the world.

“I will do my best to make Asante Kotoko Sporting Club the best club in Ghana, Africa and the world.

“I am awfully grateful for this opportunity to serve such a great club Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Everyone will happy.

“I would like to use this opportunity to thank you all for your congratulatory messages, compliments and best wishes. I’m very grateful.

” Thanks to HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Board, Management and Supporters for reposing trust in me,” he added.

Ogum commenced his duties on Monday, September 20, 2021 as Kotoko players arrived for the start of their pre-season ahead of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season. The Ghana Premier League is scheduled to start on October 29.

Ogum becomes the seventh coach the club has hired since 2019 after Charles Kwablah Akonnor, Kjetil Zachariason, Maxwell Konadu, Johnson Smith, Abdulai Gazelle and Mariano Baretto.

Asante Kotoko part ways with assistant coach Johnson Smith

Asante Kotoko have mutually parted ways with assistant coach Johnson Smith, according to Opemsuo Radio.

Smith returned to Kotoko after the 2019 season after guiding Karela United to the finals of the Normalisation Competition where they lost to Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

He served as assistant trainer to Kjetil Zachariassen before  Maxwell Konadu took over.

Smith holds a CAF License B certificate which does not qualify him to lead any club in the Ghanaian top-flight hence the decision of the Porcupine Warriors not to renew his two-year expired deal.

Reports in the local media suggest that Kotoko are ready to work with coaches with License A at all levels as they plan to establish a juvenile team as a feeder side for the senior side.

Marvin David Ocloo and John Eduafo have been appointed to be the first and second assistants to head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum – who replaced Mariano Barreto.

Ghanaian Champions, Hearts of Oak have come out with a new club app.

The app which is available on Android was launched this week.

The app known as Accra Hearts of Oak on play store, is the latest platform introduced by the Phobians to disseminate information to their fans across the globe.

These cones in few days after unveiling their new Umbro kit at a colourful ceremony held at the World Trade Centre, Accra last Thursday.

The App will serve as the official app for the Hearts of Oak Sporting Club and serve the fans with news updates, video streams of training sessions and live matches, among others.

This is a way the club hopes to bring the team closer to the fans as they plan to air
behind the scenes videos from the club and the training ground as well as interviews.
