Wakaso, Duncan to miss Ghana double-header against Zimbabwe

Midfielders Mubarak Wakaso and Alfred Duncan are included in a list of five players who have been excused from Ghana squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Zimbabwe.

The others are Brentford winger Tariqe Fosu, Kotoko defender Ismail Ganiyu and Italy-based striker Emmanuel Gyasi.

The quintet were named in Ghana’s provisional 32 man squad for the crucial game by recently re-appointed head coach Milovan Rajevac.

The GFA announced the technical team’s decision to excuse them from the qualifiers but gave no reason.

For Duncan, there were reports last week that he had picked up a knock but on Sunday, he was in action as Fiorentina lost 2-1 to Napoli in Serie A.

Ghana will face Zimbabwe twice in the space of four days. The first match will be played on Saturday in Cape Coast with the return match on Tuesday, October 12 in Harare.

Ghana Premier League DATES for 2021/22 season revealed

The Ghana Football Association is delighted to announce the dates for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League football season. The competition which kicks off on Friday, October 29, 2021 is expected to round up on the weekend of June 17-20, 2022.

The first round of the season will end on the weekend of 11-14 February 2022 while the second round kicks off on Friday, February 25, 2022.

Defending Champions Accra Hearts of Oak will commence their title defence against Legon Cities at the Accra sports stadium before trekking to Sogakope to play WAFA on Match Day Two.

Jong Az 86 football club sign Isaac Asiedu Darko from B. A United

Dutch association football club  Jong Az signs Isaac Aseidu Darko from division one side BA United.

The reserve team of AZ Alkmaar which is based in Alkmaar and plays in Keuken Kampioen Divisie signs Isaac Aseidu Darko for a year with a possibility of extension for another year.

The prolific striker who played for Brooapojkarna Fc scored 11 goals in 17 matches in the first Round of the division two league. 

He also played for BA United in the second round of the Ghana Division One league where he he scored 3 goals in 5 matches.

Aseidu is expected to sign a one year deal with an option to extend for another year from BA United.

BA United competed in the erstwhile division one in zone one 2021 and and finished 8th with 37 points

‘I am proud to wear the Kotoko shirt’ – Richard Boadu

Newly-signed Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richard Boadu ‘Agadas’ says he feels proud to represent the club.

According to him, he has achieved his childhood ambition of playing for the Porcupine Warriors after sealing a deal to the Ghanaian giants last month.

The midfielder joined the Porcupine Warriors from Tarkwa-based Medeama SC. The impressive midfielder signed a three-year deal with the Reds after a move abroad fell through.

Boadu who has been impressive in the local scene since joining the Yellow and Mauves has assured the supporters of his new club, his readiness to help them win trophies

The 26-year-old has also assured them of an improved performance under new coach Prosper Ogum Narteh as Kotoko prepare in their bid to win Ghana Premier League title this season.

“I thank them for following me till now. Not every player will get this opportunity, waiting for my signature since last season. I thank them a lot,” Boadu told the club’s media.

“I have watched Kotoko several times and I know what is inside Kotoko and I’m proud to wear a Kotoko jersey. It’s a dream come through.

“I will continue to perform well as I did at the former club that impressed them to come for me. Maybe, it might be more than the previous one. I will put all my strength in the team,” he added.

Boadu will be hoping to make his debut when the season starts on October 29.

Minifootball Association Ghana Holds successful AGM In Accra.

Minifootball Association of Ghana held a successful annual general meeting saw in attendance of National, regional executive, and some National players.

The meeting which was moderated by Partington Papa Nii (Esophagus ),saw five speakers,President Andrews who took time to educate members of the history, Mission and vision of the association, he also gave the profile and standings and some achievement of the National team.

2nd vice general secretary, Mr.Emmanuel Anyetei speech was very brief and precise, he took the opportunity to welcome new members into the fast – growing association.

The programs Manager was the next to speak, he took members through some of the challenges the team went through when they went Nigeria for Minifootball AFCON which happened earlier this year.

Justice Anana ,league board chairman was also brief with this speech ashe called for patience and discipline, which he thinks is what the association need to grow Madam Dzormor Adzekwei the only female represented at the national Level called on all to help get more women.

Mr.Abdul Rahman Tackie is the cordinator before the speaker introduced all the executives to members an opportunity was given for members, to ask any questions they want and the executives answered them accordingly.

After a short meeting was held where the league was discussed, it was agreed that the league will start in January with Modalities coming in few day.

Chelsea sink 10-man Saints to go top

Chelsea scored two late goals as Thomas Tuchel’s side bounced back from consecutive defeats to beat Southampton and move top of the Premier League.

The hosts were punished for not extending their advantage when former Chelsea player Tino Livramento was tripped by Chilwell in the box and Ward-Prowse fired in the resulting penalty.

However, the visitors could not hold out for a point following the loss of their skipper, whose yellow card was upgraded to a straight red after referee Martin Atkinson viewed the pitchside monitor.

And having lost 1-0 to Juventus in the Champions League in midweek after their unbeaten league start was ended by Manchester City, Werner and Chilwell’s late strikes ensured Chelsea returned to winning ways at Stamford Bridge.

Caf CL: Accra Hearts of Oak To Host WAC On October 17

Ghana Premier League winners Accra Hearts of Oak have set October 17 as the date for the first leg encounter of the second preliminary round of the CAF Championship League against WAC of Morocco.

The match is expected to kickoff at 15:00GMT at Accra Sports stadium.

The return leg encounter is expected to be held in Morocco, on 23rd of October at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.

The Phobians crossed into the second preliminary round of the Continental competition, after they eliminated Guinean giant Club Industrial Kamsar on 2:0 scoreline. Kofi Kodzi and Salim Adams sent Hearts into this stage.

Moroccan giant WAC earned automatic qualification because their Botoba PRO League is ranked high.

Recently reports say CAF fined Accra Hearts of Oak over poor pitch with $5,000 cash.

WAFA appoint Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza as new head coach

West African Football Academy (WAFA) has announced the appointment of Spanish Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza as the new head coach of the First Team.

Guille replaces Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum who joined Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko last month after guiding the Academy lads to a third-place finish.

The former Real Madrid youth team trainer has joined the Sogakope-based club ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

He holds a UEFA PRO coaching certificate and has lived in five countries USA, Mexico, Italy, Qatar and Spain. He speaks five languages- English, Italian, Spanish, French and Arabic.

A statement from WAFA announcing the appointment of the Spanish trainer reads, ” We are delighted to announce the appointment of Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza ?? as head coach of the First Team. Guille [pronounced GUI-YE] will be with us for the entire 2021/22 season.”

He has been in Ghana for the past week, training the Academy boys ahead of the commencement of the season.

He will be assisted by Ibrahim Saddick who was also the assistant during Prosper Narteh’s time.

The 2021/22 Ghana Premier League will kick start October 29, and WAFA will lock horns with King Faisal in the first game of the campaign on October 31.

Justice Blay to Asante Kotoko done deal

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have completed the signing of Tarkwa-based Medeama SC star Justice Blay on a 3-year contract until 2024, footy.ghpush.com/ can confirm.

The price involved in this deal is GHS70,000, official announcement from both parties coming soon to confirm the move.

Justice Blay will join Asante Kotoko by next week, after his current team Medeama Sc failed to include him in their squad preparing ahead of the next season.

Medeama are in Kumasi for their pre-season at Paa Joe park at (KNUST).

Blay joined Asante Kotoko on a one-year loan deal from Medeama SC in 2019/20 with excellent performance. That made his service needed by the Reds again.

The player recently made unpleasant post on his social media page.”When you are strong everybody cares but when you are on injury nobody care”.Later he came out to plead to the board.

Justice Blay got injured in a match between Medeama Sc and Legon cities at Akoon park last season but now reports say the player is now on personal training.
